“Second Stay”
Reviewed 23 August 2011

Our second stay here nothing changed a lot since last year except for the pirate ship in the kids pool. Last year we boked a privelege room but could not get one this time but i would have thought i would still be allocated a nice room seeing as we were returning but alas no such luck.
We were A/I which is great if you have kids it is without doubt a place for kids i would not recommend it for couples, again the room service could be improved 2 days you do not get the room cleaned in the week which i think is not very good when you have kids with you.
Meals are very good for all the family but entertainment is only poor, they seem to have a group who go around the viva hotels on different nights .
Will we be returning, i don't think so it is expensive and you could get better value for your money elsewhere. For a family give it a go for a couple don't !!

Very nice place with young children, went there in May with my 6 year old son and 10 year old daughter. My son really loved kids club and the team there was very nice and helpful. AI rather axpensive but easy if you're staying with children. There are lots of nice restaurants nearby, so you don't really need to eat in Viva Palmanova. Supermarket very convenient nearby but far too long trip to beach with children :( Stairs went on and on.. The apartment was roomy, but cleaning very poor (like in many places in Spain). They just brush the floor in the middle, they do not wipe with damp or vacuum at all.
The best time we had in Pirates show in Magaluf - I highly recommend you go there!

Three star at most. Be warned too if you don't get room facing the pool you won't be getting a lot of sleep on your stay for two reasons.
Firstly the road outside is busy and wakes you up early and that is if you get to sleep due to the groups of party animals staying in the Nova hotel across the road with their screaming etc all night. We did try changing rooms but got fibbed off on more than one occasion. It didn't bother me much but as I had two children it was a pain trying to get them asleep.

The staff are mostly helpful but the evening entertainment is poor, we went out most nights as we prefer this anyway and found drinks prices cheaper in the resort as we weren't AI. Beer and a small coke in hotel over 6 euros! We ate lunch here a couple days and found the food nice.

The pools here are fantastic especially the new pirate ship which the kids loved but would not make us return. It is just too expensive for what it is and where it is. I also have to agree with other reviewers that there is alot of rude German and Dutch here.

The rooms are good but the tv is pointless as it only has 6 channels 5 of which are foreign and BBC world service is your number 6! Kitchen is well equipped and was handy as we were sc so had breakfast in the room but ate out lunch and evening.

Supermarket onsite is handy and prices not too bad and do lovely cakes and croissants.

All in all had a lovely time and found the place ok but just a few niggles like the noise etc mean we wouldn't return. Sounds like I am really grumpy lol but I'm not just a little disappointed that this expensive so called four star didn't live up to my expectations.

We stayed at viva palmanova for 2 weeks from 29th july 2011, in a priveledge apartment. the apartment was basic but clean certainly not worthy of 4 stars, the garden area was nice and we spent most of our time here instead of the apartment. The pools where good especially for children, the adult only pool was adequate, the kids clubs appeared well run, but the night time entertainment poor, and bar staff where miserable and unhelpful, reception staff helpful. I would not reccommend the apartments and most definately not to a disabled person I myself am disabled and faced either 70 steps to get to the beach or a steep bank neither where good for the wheelchair and the pathways around the hotel were poor. Palmanova itself is a lovely area but these apartments where a let down.

Room Tip: a priveldge apartment would be a must as the garden area was lovely.

Nice hotel with EXCELLENT staff who I feel should be advised by the hotel manager Marco not to serve the aforementioned guests unless they can learn to say please and thank you instead of barking their orders to the waiters! The food was pretty good, lunch is cooked fresh and was excellent. Have a cooked breakfast by all means, eggs, omelettes etc. cooked fresh and hot, however the beans, sausage, bacon often cold. There was also a problem with cold food in the evening, it did seem to improve after I complained about it. Branded drinks, adult pool lovely, plenty of sunbeds and parasols all round. I would not return for 2 reasons, it is too expensive for what it is and the other guests just ruin what should be an enjoyable relaxing stay with their lack of manners and inability to wait their turn in even the smallest of queues for a coffee machine or toaster for example.

This is my second time to stay in the Viva Palmanova & I would highly recommend it to one and all!

Rooms are basic but extremely clean & rooms are cleaned, beds made 6 days a week.
Hotel staff are very helpful & they can supply you with the loan of a buggy for your duration which is great if you don;t want to haul your own over. Very central, literally a stroll down the road to some really nice restaurants & a mini mart & the hotel itself has a small shop attached for those well deserved ice creams. Although I didn't have the inclusive holiday their food was second to none especially thier "Bufo meal deals" for the kids (equiv to McD's kiddies meal).

I booked my holiday individually & paid 40euros to get to the hotel directly & in doing this saved myself over 60 euros in doing so & also the hassle of the holiday provider bus stopping off at every hotel on the way.

Room Tip: Book the holiday yourself & then get a taxi to the hotel as you will save yourself anything up t...

Me and my family stayed at Viva Palmanova for two weeks in July and we had a fantastic time! The staff at this hotel are really warm and friendly people and nothing is too much trouble for them. On arrival we were instantly made to feel welcome by the reception staff who directed us to our room and we were given a voucher for one free drink at the hotel pool bar.

We booked our holiday through a disabled access site as I am a wheelchair user, some of what I write may not be relevant to you, but I think that it will help others in a similar situation to mine.

This hotel is used my many different nationalities, we found that it was mainly Scandinavian people staying here, which was not at all a problem, they were nice, respectful people who all seemed to understand and speak some English. The entertainment is mainly in English and the staff all speak very good English.

Rooms:
We had a ground floor adapted apartment, and it was a wheel in shower with a seat, it also had grab rails in the shower and one by the toilet. The room for me was ok, but a little bit on the small side with the wheelchair, if you are in a larger or powered wheelchair you may want to take this into consideration. the wardrobe space was quite generous. The maids were very good and came 5 days a week and kept the room very clean and tidy. the air conditioning was good and the balcony was a very good size.

Facilities:
The pools were excellent, there was a baby pool for babies and small children with a big umbrella for sun protection, a children’s pool with fun slides for the older children, two large pools for everyone to use and an over 18s pool in a separate area with sun beds and double beds! There is also an indoor pool, for use in winter.
Around the pool area there were plenty of sun beds and lots of umbrellas to use. The pool area looks lovely and is kept clean and tidy.
There is a gym inside next to the indoor pool and a sauna and a steam room.
There are two pool tables that cost 1 Euro a game and there are a few small arcade games by the pool bar. There is a children’s play area with a bouncy castle, swings and a climbing frame next to the kids club.
The reception area has free Wi-Fi which is handy if you take a lap top with you. The Wi-Fi is a little bit hit and miss, one minute I found it was working fine the next there would be some problems with it and the internet could be very slow (others in the area said their lap tops stopped working, it wasn't that I had a slow lap top) There are also a few computers by the reception which costs 1 Euro for 20 minutes or 2 euros for an hour.
The hotel has a supermarket just next to the hotel which is very handy, it has a lovely fresh bakery but it is expensive.

Staff:
As I said, the staff at Viva Palmanova are very friendly. The staff on reception were all very nice and were helpful. The staff who do activities for both children and adults were very friendly and helpful. They all work hard and you can tell they enjoy their jobs, they are all very good with children and are good to have a friendly chat with! They do various activities (games, sports and water sports) throughout the day for children and adults. The bar staff were also nice.

Access:
This section will not apply to a lot of people but it will help if access is something you need to take into consideration.
The room as I said was on the small side, but I do believe if you pay extra you get a larger room, but these do not have adapted showers. The hotel only has 3 floors and we were on the ground floor as we requested, the reception is on a split level and you do have to go up quite a steep ramp to get to it. If you are a power chair user it should be fine, if you are a manual wheelchair user you are likely to need assistance to get up the ramp. The pools are on the lower level and we had no problems with lifts. There are disabled toilets in this hotel, one is to the right of the children’s playground (quite a steep ramp to get there and back but I managed) there is also a disabled toilet on the lower level. Access around the pool is generally good, almost everywhere is accessible. There is one step down to the adult pool.

Surrounding Area:
The hotel is near the beach (about 200 meters away) and just across the road there is a short cut to the beach, but it is down quite a few stairs so if you have any issues with stairs you need to turn right as you come out of the hotel and then do a left and the beach is just ahead of you.
The hotel is on an incline, there are not many dropped kerbs around the area and the streets are quite narrow, which is something you may want to consider if you have a person in wheelchair with you.
At the end of the road there are bars, shops and restaurants and Palma Nova beach, which has some nice bars and restaurants. If you turn right at the end of the road it takes you into Magaluf, which is where most of the night life is!
I did like the fact that the hotel is not right in the centre of everything so you don't get the noise and crowds but has everything close by. You get the best of both.

Food:
We went self catering so cannot comment on the food served in the hotel. However we did use the pool bar a few times and it was nice food, you get the choice of a 'classic' or 'tex mex' menu. Again the food was not cheap, but it wasn't too expensive. I had a toasted sandwich that came with chips (it was a decent sized portion) for around 5.95 euros.

Entertainment & Bar:
We did go the hotel bar a few nights and the entertainment was not that great, the staff do keep the children entertained and they do some games for them and adults if you want to join in. The drinks were quite expensive, but if you go all inclusive you do get quite a wide range of drinks that you can choose from.

Service:
We experienced good service throughout our stay at Viva Palmanova. We all had a great family holiday and we will be returning!
