“Best holiday weve ever had!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 August 2013

We have just returned from our holiday here and iv already been looking at dates and prices for august 2014!!! If I were to use one word to describe this hotel and our experience it would be 'CLASS' The communal areas of the hotel were beautifully arranged and very clean with stunning decor. Our room was lovely plenty of space for a family of 4 and we had a room on the 3rd floor with a rooftop terrace which had a bed lounger and table and chairs and a jaquzzi! !!! This appatment is more expensive but worth it as it just adds to your holiday experience... every day we would leave the sofa bed out and beds unmade, and every day we returned to our room to find everything had been tidied away and the bed made and floors washed and ash trays on the balcony emptied and cleaned, we were amazed... the food and service was second to none, and I would defy anyone who said there wasnt sonething to their taste! The staff were wonderful and iv never known anyone work so hard, these people are there from 10 in the morning till 12 at night and their smile and helpfulness does not change from begining to end. The pools were amazing, perfect for young and old. A little tip for you, you do not need to pack any towels, the hotel will give you towels for the poolside upon request at reception and you can then refresh for new ones every monday, wednesday and friday in the pool area, and there were also plenty of bath towels supplied and changed in your appartment. The staff that entertained the children were fantastic, especially sophia, my god that women has more energy than all of my family put together and her enthusiasm was infectious!!! We will 100% be returning next year and probably each year after that

Room Tip: Royal appartment with roof top terrace, more expensive but worth the extra cost

This was easily the best family holiday we have ever had. The hotel is beautiful, spotless throughout. We were upgraded on arrival to a two bedroom apartment on the ground floor with its own garden terrace facing away from the pool. Terrace had patio table and four chairs and wicker sofas and armchairs complete with coffee table. As our transfer from the airport had been longer than expected (due to another family losing some luggage) the hotel had left us a cold buffet in the restaurant for us on arrival. Rooms are spacious and living area large enough for four complete with fully equipped kitchen which even has its own coffee machine.

The staff in this hotel are so friendly and can't do enough to help you. The hotel run kids club is excellent with varied activities for the kids evey day and a mini disco and games every evening. There are plenty of activities for the adults too although there is no pressure to take part if you don't want to - volleyball, aquagym, football, archery everyday. The hotel shop has everything you could possibly need.

There are five pools at the hotel, cleaned every morning - there is an adults pool, a children's shallow pool, two deeper pools and a splash pool with pirate ship and slides. There are lifeguards on duty every day who were very attentive. The food in the hotel is amazing - so many choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Freshly cooked pancakes and omlettes to your requirements every morning. Lunch can be eaten in the buffet restaurant or the snack bar - both equally good. We were all inclusive and the drinks and snacks were great from the pool bar every day.

Sunbeds were readily available up until about 9am. This is due to the hotel policy of removing towels from sunbeds with no one on the them up to 9am. If you wanted particular sunbeds, you would need to go out to get them from about 8am onwards and stay with them as this is what a lot of people seem to do. However, there were sunbeds available up to lunchtime if you didn't mind where they were.

The hotel is nearer to Magaluf than Palma Nova but both are within walking distance. There is a beach a short distance away (either down steps or round the corner and down the hill). Lovely beach with some nice shops and restaurants near it.

The majority of guests at the hotel were Scandinavian while we were there, in fact for the first 5 days, we didn't see any other English speaking guests at all. The hotel caters for all nationalities and announcments and information were always given in English and four other languages.

The entertainments team are fantastic and the kids loved the entertainment in the evenings. They all worked so hard at making sure everyone was having a great time.

This is the first hotel that we have stayed at where we couldn't find a single fault. We had an amazing holiday here and will be booking again for next year the minute the brochures are out. Well done Viva!!! Thank you so much for a brilliant holiday!

Room Tip: If you want to be near the pool, go for a privledge apartment with its own garden and steps down to...

Hi everybody,
After travelling for many years and have never bothered with reviews I decided somehow express gratitude for wonderful time we had in this hotel. What a superb place!!
The outstanding friendliness of staff and management, great location, great nights sleep and totally relaxed atmosphere will make you want to stay there more and more! Any request I had was arranged on the spot. For our food we went to couple of restaurants( the more expensive once were really nice), but in a while we just ate in the hotel, which was perfect as variety of food is luxurious.
Entertainment starts at 8pm and goes on and on.. Overall, thank you Viva!
Hope to be back next year.
x

Room Tip: if you can pay little extra for pool view as it is really nice.

Upon arrival the hotel looks well maintained and clean. Check in was tiresome and the reception staff were unfriendly. Shocked to get to our room (via the dated lift) to find it was small, dirty, had broken/stained furniture and appliances that didn't work. We were offered an alternative but when we went to look at that room we were forced to turn it down because it was just as bad! When we pointed this out to the receptionist her response was that it would be cleaned for the next guests after we left!! After much unnecessary disputing, the Manager finally came to our room and immediately arranged for cleaners, changed appliances and replacement furniture. This didn't take away from the fact that the room was below the standard you would expect for 4* accommodation. Room was small with not much space. Travel cot provided by hotel (at a cost of about €4 a day) barely fitted in the room and you had to climb across the bed just to get past it. Pool area was good but the children's play area was not very nice and had old broken bits of furniture scattered around. Staff in the food hall were friendly and helpful but the food was of poor quality. We will not be returning, nor would we recommend this hotel to any of our friends or family. Disappointing.

Viva h, Gerente at Viva Palmanova & Spa, responded to this review, 12 August 2013
Dear Stillwaters5

Thank you for the feedback on your stay in Viva Palmanova. Your comments will help us to improve our standard.
We are very sorry to hear that your stay with us was not what you had expected it to be.
It is understandable that our scores on Tripadvisor (travel choice award winner 2012) and the other reviews made your expectations very high, which normally is only considered a challenge for us.

Of course you already made clear to us during your stay that you thought the hotel was not of the standard you expected.
You are absolutely right when you say that the defects that you found upon arrival are not up to standard in a 4 star hotel. We are working hard to improve our technical checks to avoid these incidents in the future.
We did offer you another room immediately , which you declined and I think your tour operator did also offer you to change to another hotel, more to your standard, which you also declined.
As you already mentioned we were able to fix all the things that you were not happy with on the same day you arrived.

The size of our apartments is 38 square meters and there is not much we can do about it. All our rooms are the same size.
Around 50% of our guests in the summer season are families of 4 persons and the space seems to be sufficient, but obviously you expected our rooms to be bigger.
To be a four star hotel a lot of different things that we offer are taken into account such as facilities as our modern Spa center, Gym, 4 different pools and free Wifi throughout the hotel, but also facilities in the rooms such as coffee and tea making facilities, hair dryer and 32” lcd tv.

Once again we are sorry to hear that our hotel was not what you expected it to be and we do hope you will give Viva Palmanova or any of the other Viva hotels another chance to be able to convince you of our quality.

Un saludo,
Marco Heitinga
Hotel Manager.

We have been visiting Majorca for 13 years, the last 5 as a 'family'. We have stayed in a couple of other hotels on the island, but mostly with family in the Palma Nova area. How we have never come across this little gem is beyond me! From the moment you walk into reception, you know you're going to have an amazing holiday. Every member of staff not only works hard, but always has a smile on their face, and have the 'nothing is too much trouble' attitude.
We had a 1st floor apt (2111) directly above the entertainment area, which was great, as if the kids fell asleep early, we could still watch the show from the balcony! The rooms are spotlessly clean, beds comfortable, even the pull outs in the lounge.
Our son only went to mini club twice, but enjoyed the mini disco each night. The entertainers were great, and really hope to see Sofia and Felipe there again next year.
The manager can be seen on a regular basis walking around the hotel, and is very approachable with any concerns you may have.
We went s/c for the first 4 days, then went AI for the last 3 days. The food was always hot, replaced regularly, and very varied, something for everyone!
The only issues we had were that the steps on the pirate ship were extremely slippy, and need to be addressed before someone goes flying down them (saw several nippers slip up, including my own 2 year old) this we did raise with the manager one morning when he was near the pool. The other was the lack of attention by certain lifeguards at the kids pool. When they were there, they were just playing/texting on their mobiles. They should NOT be allowed their mobiles on duty. They are there to protect your little ones, but they cant do that if they're not paying full attention to the pool.
In a nutshell, this hotel is fab, great value for money, well deserving of all the positive reviews. We cannot wait to return next year, and are counting down the days to book again!

Room Tip: Can only recommend what we had and that was room looking inwards. Will be looking into a ground floo...

Just back from a 10 night stay at the Viva, I think this is our 5th year! again a great stay and the staff are the most friendliest ever. From reception staff like Martin and Tom right through to the entertainment staff and it was great to see Sofia back she even remembered my daughter Brooke. The whole complex is spotless clean, the only issue we have had with the rooms was not enough English channels on TV, as my husband loves to watch the news channels when we go back to the apartment at nights! so we asked Marco and he kindly sent someone to tune in BBC, but really I think the hotel should have like all the Sky news channels on like a lot of hotels in Spain have. And the bedrooms have had lovely new beds and bedding put in. So anyone looking for the perfect hotel this is the one, although it is a bit expensive to book.

Room Tip: Florida restaurant at the bottom of the street is great value for money.

Just returned from a wonderful 2 week holiday at The Viva Palma Nova, going to keep it short as we do agree with all the positive reviews on here, apartment very clean and staff very helpful etc. However what was very frustrating was the 'Sun bed Challenge' we faced each morning! Despite a notice in our apartment stating no towels on beds before 9am no one takes any notice, nearly all beds are taken by 8.30am with residents sitting on beds until just after 9am and then disappearing for the rest of the day. The life guards attempt to remove a couple of towels to make a point, but sadly nearly 50% of beds have towels on all day but do not get used! What's that all about? We ended up avoiding the pool area until 4pm each day when you could usually find a spare bed, it was still hot and we got a few hours in the pool. It was a shame we couldn't use the pool area more, but I refuse to set an alarm clock on holiday to race down to the pool! We chilled out at the beach and went to some great beach bars instead, Zen, Chill Bar and IL Chiringo were our favourites.
