“Nice week”
Reviewed 31 May 2013

Did a cruise and stay but you don't have a heading for that but it was an enjoyable week at that hotel.
28 years ago we stayed in that hotel and I can say it is still a very good hotel.
Some of the waiting staff could do with a happy face but I am not bothered as long as the service is good.
I didn't like the way different board basis were segregated as an A/I I got the impression we were being treated differently but the 1/2 board felt exactly the same that it was them that was different.
the hotel as a whole is very nice and food was good although the opening times for the restaurant could be a bit more flexible and things like charges for stuff that is standard in all other All Inclusive hotels.
Safe key, towels, fridge keys were all charged for, a tad stingy.

Room Tip: It was the quieter side of resort and much as I do not want to have evening entertainment most of th...

First time at this hotel and would definately go again. The staff were all very friendly, the room was small but clean and adequate for our needs. I couldnt find any faults with the food, it was always hot (apart from the custard) and the dinner variety was huge, there was always something there that i enjoyed. I cannot comment on the entertainment as we never stayed in for it, there is always something to do outside the hotel so we didnt need to go all inclusive. The age group was varied when we stayed, Reading other reviews we got the impression it was for older people but not the case.Trying to find a fault with the hotel, the only thing i can think of is that we had one of the rooms that had an adjoining door and yes you can hear the people in the next room, especially when they are making telephone calls and believe that they have to shout in order to be heard in the Uk. All in all a great base for our holiday.

Room Tip: pool side, sunny rooms

2 out of four guests get food poisoning on all inclusive. One of the sick guests taken by ambulance to hospital and placed on a drip.
The restaurant is truly awful with sub-standard food and atrocious service. The waitresses will reach across your plate as you are eating to snatch the plate away from your neighbour who may or may not have finished but whose plate is nearing emptiness. Hand sanitisers at the entrance of the restaurant which you are advised to use before and after.
A cleaner at the indoor pool filled her bucket from the pool and used this to mop out the toilets.
A family room turned out to be a twin bed room with a folding third bed squeezed in with a stained mattress and little room to pass.

Room Tip: Not 4 star. Do not go until the health issues have been cleared.

Very disappointed with the Santa Lucia hotel. No way is this a four star hotel, Our party also contacted the diarrhoea bug , very distressing, Stayed 22nd -28th May .2013 .Food cold, unhygienic carpets in bedrooms, towels to be avoided at all cost .I would not stay in another hotel which is used for cruise stopovers .Entertainment enjoyable only once over seven nights

My wife and I stayed at the Santa Lucia the last 2 weeks of April 2013. This was the fifth time at this hotel and we were a little apprehensive before going as some reviews had said that the hotel had gone downhill. Our experience was that it definately had not! in fact we found the choice of food to be the best ever. OK the hotel does begin to look a bit tired and in need of a makeover but it is clean and comfortable and you are guaranteed a loveley sea view. We stayed half board but you can upgrade to all inclusive for 18 euros per day. Drinks are typical hotel prices but not over priced. Lunchtime meals are available from the pool bar if required and, again, these are reasonably priced. Bedrooms are of a good size and have plenty of storage space. The fitted carpets are kind on the feet if not staying when it is hot. The bathroom was a good size with plenty of shelf space around the wash basin. A reasonably sized safe is supplied but this is a bit pricey at 57 euros for the two weeks. A fridge is also available at a supplement if required. We didn't bother with this as the weather wasn't hot.
The evening entertainment was poor the first week with only two professional acts but this did get better the second week with professional acts each night. Bingo is played each evening at 9.30 but this takes about 45 minutes to sell the tickets and only one game is played. However, by the time we left it was making in excess of 300 euros.
We will definately return to this hotel. The staff were friendly and efficient and the hotel is in the best position in Palma Nova with direct access to a beautiful beach.

I must see we were most pleased with this hotel and food which was very good but sometimes not to warm but we would love to go back there again cool food or not, BUT!!! five days after we arrived Helen caught the dreaded bug and I the following day and believe me it was not only just us two who caught it and two people where taken two hospital ! nine days later we both are still feeling the effects of this bug, I should have read last years reviews before we booked this hotel as we now know this bug was around then, good hotel or not no way will we be going back there again,
also some of the staff were not the happiest people in the world. another minis if you wanted to use the little fridge in your room then you had to pay to do this which I think is real penny pinching. only 3 lifts and they were very full sometimes and I dread what it must be like there in peak times !!! don't expect to get an early night in as its rather noisy late evenings.

Room Tip: overlooking the pool to get the sun.

this hotel has the best location in palma nova, great views over the bay and the beach, the hotel itself is average. but there are some things,i did not like, the cost of hiring a safe was 4 euros a day and the hotel did not take any responsibilty for any thing stolen, the main thing i didnt like was the lifts as the management decided to halt the use of one of the three lifts, on asking at reception i was told that they did not realise one lift was not working-after being out of use for over 24 hours- i also asked the thomson rep why there was a problem with the lift and the reply i was given was-the hotel only runs three lifts at peak times! i was at the hotel from 18 - 25 may and the hotel was full, several people commented on the lift situation and was not at all happy, especially as the hotel has 8 floors.
