“Excellent place”
Reviewed 6 June 2014

We visited the Santa Lucia for 2 weeks in May, as a couple, and had an excellent time. We found the location was perfect, away from the constant partying of Magaluf, yet close enough to walk to if thats your scene.
The food was excellent every night and the entertainment (a show every night) was very good on the nights we stayed in. If you like a drink I would advise going all inclusive as the bar prices are quite expensive on half board, although just about every bar in the resort sells cheap alcohol, many at 1,50 euros/pint.
The pool area is good but I would adivse reserving a sunbed in the morning if you want to ensure you get one. There are signs saying you cannot do this yet everybody did and nobody was ever pulled on it, that we know of.
The cleaners were very friendly and did an excellent job. We stayed in a superior room which comes with a fridge and TV. The balcony view was amazing as the location is literally right on the beach/sea.
I would recommend going to see "pirates" show as this was awesome. We took a taxi which reception will call for you. It arrived almost instantaneously and the cost was 5 euros to get to Pirates. Thomson were charging 14 euros each for transport, whereby we paid only 10 between us.
I would recommend this hotel to anybody who is looking for an enjoyable, comfortable, relaxing holiday.

We returned from the Santa Lucia on 24th May 2014.The hotel is in an excellent position with sea views all round. Our room was on 8th floor, a refurbished room ( at the moment I believe floors 6 to 8 are refurbished) with fridge and tea and coffee facilities. Despite other comments we had few problems with the lifts. Food was very good , half board, with lots of choice and always replenished quickly. Staff were courteous and friendly.
We did not find the entertainment to our taste but Palma Nova offers many bars with live music, .Only downside was the hogging of sunbeds round the pool- can't blame the Germans here, guests were virtually all British, Having said that the first floor has a large decked area with lots of sunbeds. Good choice for couples of age 40 plus.

Room Tip: If you like sun all day ask for poolside room. We were on the other side, it was lovely- sun from 2p...

Before pointing out why this hotel is not ideal for younger couple and families id firstly like to point out why this is an excellent hotel overall. The hotel is set in the middle of palma nova with the beach on your doorstep. The views are fantastic unless you get a low floor room on the end of the road side, id always ask for a room above the 3rd floor, the 7th and 8th floor are upgraded rooms that you do pay extra for. The pool was a decent size and there was a heated indoor pool for those cool overcast days. You can get a sun lounger around the pool or on the sun terrace on the 1st floor, the only problem is you have to be up at 7.50am to join the queue of BRITISH people who have adopted the German mentality of waking up at the crack of dawn placing their towels down and then going back to bed until the afternoon, unlike most european hotels this is not frowned upon by the management or the Thompson reps. The food is good i wouldnt say its 4* more of a 3* but maybe thats because it the UK were a little spoilt, but there is plenty of choice but after 1 week the 2nd week gets a little repetitive. The staff are fantastic they cant do enough for you in the restaurant or the bar, even the cleaners are very chatty and always made a fuss of my 9 month old baby boy. The entertainment during the day is put on by two guys, one (mattew) who is fantastic with the guests, but sadly the other seems to want to make the whole day about himself this does include trying to impress any females that may be in the hotel and its very cheesy to see. The evening, there is a cash prize bingo which is usually 2 games, 1 line 1 full house which is worth about 450 Euros a night after that there is always a musical or comedy night on. Now onto why i feel this hotel isnt geared up for young families or even young people in general. Im 30 my partner is 24 and we have a 9 month old baby boy. For us this year it didnt really matter as our baby was too young to partake in any of the activities but for anyone who has a 2 year old and upwards there is nothing really for them to do other that the 3 games they play round the pool each day over an 8 hour period. The mini disco hadnt even started during our stay, it was starting the day we left on a mon, wed, fri but originally the plan was 7 days a week, but the elderly had complained saying "well what are we going to do for the 45 minutes its on", like this was there hotel and the hotel bowed down to the them. In the evening the act was always geared up for people who were born in the 40s, 50s and 60s. If i was to describe the evening act i would say it was like a posher Blackpool for the oldies. Please be aware that this hotel is a Thomson cruise hotel meaning if a med cruise is booked the second part of the cruise will involve a weeks stay in this hotel so the type of guest can vary. Overall the holiday was great and if i was going back with my partner in 10 years time i may consider this hotel, but if im looking at next year with my 2 year old i will be looking to more lively family orientated hotel.

Room Tip: Always ask for room above the 3rd floor.

This will sound as if im a whinger but honesty is the best policy I think..Arrived 2 and half hours after landing at airport we checked in. .man at reception said you're room is 524 and I said I booked a superior room which I knew was on 6th,7th and 8th floors. You,re rooms not ready until tomorrow..i was annoyed..this holiday was a surprise 50th Birthday for my husband. He said we haven't got any other rooms for you but if you stay in that room for the week you can have all inclusive for the week..no chance I thought.. room was old fashioned and horribly small. we went to complain and basically it was tough..If your under 60 I wouldn't bother booking to go to this hotel.lots of people we spoke to was complaining..entertainment was ok if you wanted to sit in a dated room..boiling hot and have to be there before 8pm to get a seat.we went out to local bars for a bit of fun.food ok nothing special at all.pool was freezing cold for the whole week we was there 22nd may-29th may so had to use indoor pool.rude reception staff and Thomson reps who was about 19 didn't have a clue.only thing this hotel has going for it is the view from the rooms.. Palma nova is a lovely resort but the hotel in my eyes is awful..poor cruise and stay people was annoyed too because they paid a lot of money for their holiday to end up in a hotel like this..i also emailed the hotel to ask if they could do a little something as it was my hubbys 50th and they printed a happy birthday on an a4 sheet of paper.. shocking.

Room Tip: all rooms have a fab sea view

Start with the only good points, rooms cleaned daily by very friendly staff, a great sea view from our 5th floor room. Now the bad, from the moment a blue wristband is put on you as an all inclusive guest, you are marked and will receive the most appauling service and treatment for the duration of your stay. You will get one word answers only from reception and don't expect a smile, no matter how friendly you are. The bar staff are equaly as rude as reception, but if you speak to them in Spanish they say pardon, once you repeat yourself they answer in english, if you speak in english they answer in spanish and look at you as though you are beneath them. In the main bar all inclusive guests have to que up at the end of the bar for service, whilst half board or room only guests receive a much better service, with a smile. The Cocktail bar is off limits to all inclusive guests unless they are prepared to pay for drinks they should receive free. The restaurant took me back to my old school days, though the food selection and standard was fair, we were told where we could sit, we had to que for food and drinks and staff stood over you waiting for your plate. In order to avoid this we took advantage of the late breakfast, however this ended up worse as the cleaners were annoyed we were there, one even hitting a broom against my feet and asking me to move as i poured orange juice. Needless to say this was all too much and we ended up eating and drinking out in our second week. There are clear breaches of hotel rules by staff and guests alike, such as towels being left on sun beds to reserve them, it's against hotel policy but guests qued up early in the morning, once the doors were open they all put their towels on the sun beds and then came back in for breakfast, many not returning to the beds until the afternoon, all in full view of staff who allowed it to happen, including reception. Do not go to this Hotel all inclusive as they have your money already and they see you as a pain in the a#*e.

Five of us women set off from Scotland to celebrate a family member's 50th birthday in the Santa Lucia Hotel to be then joined by the sixth on the Thursday. Two of us were staying in a superior room on the 7th floor with a sea view which was lovely. Although the hotel was mostly occupied by retired guests it didn't deter us from making our own fun and laughter. We had a great time and probably would stay there again. The hotel staff were pleasant and the manager was always around and friendly towards guests. We made friends with the animation team and in particular Jake who was very sociable and entertaining.

Room Tip: Superior rooms on the 7th floor overlooking the pool and sea are the best!

We stayed st this hotel for 2 weeks as all inclusive guests . Rooms were basic but had lovely sea views . Cleaning maids were very friendly saying hello goodbye etc but bar restuarant and reception staff treated us like 2nd hand citizens ! No exchange of words etc plonked your drink down and carried serving with no customer service at all but paying guests got hello's etc . Dining hall was made to sit where told as soon as a dish was finished it was snatched away as they wanted you out quickly ! Reception on last day when handed key in was thankyou not by have nice flight back etc ! We ate out on our 2nd week . Also they had a policy of not saving sunbeds which they turn a blind eye to as people save the best beds then go off which i felt totaly unfair ! On closing we go away every year in may for our wedding anniversary/husbands birthday and every other place abroad and Majorca cos been there twice before has put some flowers in room or bottle wine or made the bed up with petals etc it was my hubbys 50th !! They dont care about the customers once they got ur money .
