“100% Honest Review - we also had doubt in our mind!”
Reviewed 12 August 2010

Me and my partner have just returned from a week's stay, along with family - all together there were 5 of us - 3 in one room , 2 in another. The family we travelled with had been to this hotel twice before, and on their reccommendation we decide top give it a shot. Having stayed in Palma Nova before, we know the area and couldn't have stayed in a better loacated hotel. You get a sea/beach view from every room in the hotel, although the pool side rooms are better as these get the most sun. The pool is small based on the size of the hotel, although the beach is a stone's throw away. If you prefer the loungers by the pool, I suggest get up early but don't leave your towel on a bed longer than 1 hour unoccupied as guests do have the right to remove them, if you haven't been there. This could work in your favor as you can acquire a bed under those circumstances. There are more loungers up the stairs from the pool area to the sun terrace, where you get a brilliant sea view. We went all inclusive, which was a fantastic choice. You can take drinks onto the beach as they are given in plastic cups. TIP: if you don't ask for a large drink you will get a small one, very handy to know as cocktails come large also! There is a very good choice of drinks in the AI option, which covers all local drinks and also alows you to purchase other drinks for 50% of the price and snacks for 30%. Some of the staff are quite strict on the rule of only getting 2 drinks at a time, where some staff are more relaxed. Simple solution is to put down the drinks and que again. In the restaurant there is a self serve beer pump (mahou) red wine, white wine, fizzy drinks and water - which is from a purchased bottle, not their tap supply. The drinks are situated in the all inclusive area or the restaurant, away from where people on half board basis sit. This is the reason people feel separted but if you had paid to use these pumps and people on half board hadn't you would be pretty annoyed they were getting the drinks for free. As we travelled with family, we wanted to sit together as a 5. The waitresses insist on placing you on a table of 4, which is very cramped! Seen as they are very slow at re setting tables, if you ask them to re set a larger table instead of squashing you onto a table for 4, they will do this albeit with a huff and a puff. The continental breakfast option starts at 10.30 after normal breakfast but don't just expect continental items such as toast, pastries and cereal, they also put out fresh cooked breakfast items out so really you can call this late breakfast. The food is fantastic, there is always a great selection, even for vegetarians as one of our party was and he had something different very day. The rooms are quite small when you have 3 people in them as all they do is place an extra bed into a twin room. There are however suites on the 8th floor, which I am unsure on the size but the balcony's are much bigger which would indicate the rooms could also be slightly bigger. One of the two beds in our room was very spongy and soft, which is not good if you have a bad back, although the other bed was very hard, so we had a choice. If you have a late flight home and require a late check out, you may wish to save a few £'s by booking one when you get to the hotel. This will cost you 35euros but it is not guaranteed. You can only check if there is availability on your day of departure, and although the reps will advise you to go down after 9am, I went down at 8am stood behind someone who booked a late check out room no problem when I asked for one I was turned away and told there were none. (although the guy in front of me had the choice of 2 different rooms, only taking one, the remaing must have vanished into thin air) WARNING The reception manager (pepe or pele) is an arrogant, natsy piece of work! However Vicky on recpetion is fantastic and deserves promotion!!! They do offer courtesy rooms for half an hour but the last slot is 20.30 - 21.00 .The three main reps at the hotel (Steven, Lorraine and Lyndsay) are majority of the time helpful, although it seems Lyndsay has a bit of a chip on her shoulder (or it could have been a bad week for her) Although when we asked the waitress to rest a table suitable for 5 rather than be quashed onto a 4, Lynsday was heard talking to anohter rep saying 'I feel sorry for the waitresses' Sorry but we were not going to have 5 adults squashed elbow to elbow on a table only fit for 4.You may read that all inclusive drinks stop at 12 noon on your day of departure, the rep advised to keep your band on as none of the bar staff are aware of your departure day and when you get drinks, there is no way of finding out as you are not asked for room numbers or anything. The hotel cleaners work all day, is kept to a very high standard. There was one day when there was a cockroach in the ladies toilet inthe lobby, next to the overflowing paper bin. When I told the recpetion, he got the cleaner to go in and she she dealt with it straight away. That was the only one seen all week! If like us you have read the 7 terrible reviews and have doubt in your mind - no need, our standards are quite high when it comes to hotels and the food, and we will definately be returning to this hotel. Dont' be put off by the petting moaners who review this hotel badly.

Nice hotel but won't go overboard as it has a lot to do to compare with the all inclusive in places like Egypt , I would reccomend if you can get a top floor overlooking the son matais beach go for It We E mailed a request and got what we asked for , The view is great looking over a cracking golden sandy beach. Food was nice but there was a lot of roasts served even at lunch time, salads were always good breakfast was ok.some of the chicken and pork dishes were overcooked. They start clearing away about 8.30 for the evening sitting. The Bingo and lucky draw was really good the bingo pays about 130 euros a night and the lucky 12 paid out 380 euros to one person [down side is my wife spent about 80 euros trying to win them] Drink is fine for all inclusive and the service is great no more than 5 min wait .The pool area is far too small for the size of hotel but there is a sun deck above the pool area, I did not get up early enough to see the bed race at 08.00 but went down about 08.30and still got a bed. If the santa lucia wants to get it right in the all inclusive market they should take over the beach area immediatley in front of the hotel and provide private beach facilities and also towels as in other countries. I read some earlier posts saying that the staff were not nice? I could not disagree more they were great but don't expect everyone to wear a perma smile would you do that at work? As for the division of class and privelege with the all inclusive I dont get it I don't think anyone cares what board you are the staff were all very pleasant I would reccomend you upgrade to all inclusive through thomsons as it only costs £10.00 a day you would spend that on two drinks and a toastie every day.As for the Thomsons staff I did not talk to any but they seemed to be very cheerie and helpfull but i did hear them giving a bit of hard sell for the Trips they have on offer. It costs 10.30 euros a day for beds on the beach for two but you can alternate days in the hotel and on the beach to save a couple of pounds. The entertainment was pretty good and as mentioned in previous posts there is a late bar with singers etc on till about 01.30 All in All i would reccomend this hotel as long as you don't want luxury as you will only get a basic hotel with a good reputation . Hope this helps willie and anne

I returned home yesterday from staying at this hotel, this is the thrid time i have been here and would recommend to everyone and anyone. This is the first time though that this hotel has been all inclusive so we decided to try this and see what it was like. Everything was perfect about the food and drink the meal times were evenly spaced out with your three main meals breakfast, lunch and dinner with snacks inbetween all three. Also the hotel provided i late breakfast for people who did not want to eat early. The drinks in the resturant were on pump for you to help your self with pop and alcoholic drinks available. The rooms are nice and clean and all have good views of the sea, if you are a family you do lose out on some space but its not something which courses a problem. Like many people have said about this hotel the best rooms and views are higher up so try and get a room on a higher floor if its available. On our holiday we had a party of 5 with two different rooms and the hotel staff did their best to get us rooms next door to each other even though the hotel was very full and are always happy to help with any problems you may have on your holiday. Our holiday was perfect but i do have one complaint i have noticed since this hotel went all inclusive the resturant staff can be very rude at times. As we were a big family the resturant did not have tables for 5 and we were often squashed round a 4 table, if we were lucky we got a 6 table but the resturant staff do like setting 6 tables for 5 people and will often insists on squashing people up. Half way through our stay we put our foot down and insisted on a 6 table which after some time the staff agree to set up for us. After that we were not put on a small table again but it is worth noting that you should not sit squashed just simply asked to be moved. Although not many of the resturant staff smile and make conversation they are good workers and get tables and plates cleared quickly. This was the only thing i picked up on while i stayed here and i thoroughly enjoyed my holiday i really recommend this to all people with shops, pool and beach on your door steo what more could you ask for.
P.S If your lucky on your stay you may even come across some comedy as on our first day we saw a very funny incedent involing someone with their lilo,as they sat on it on the beach it unfortunatly exploded on them, this became the topic of our holiday and we are still laughing about it now.

My Husband & I have just returned from 1 week at this lovely hotel,we booked half board but up graded to all inclusive well worth 14 euros pppn, we were on the 6th floor each room comes with sea views lovely!!! rooms very clean and good size, maid service daily & clean towels daily, fridge in room but payable (one key fits all) so if you know someone with key borrow it!!! as it will cost you 17euros a week rental no tea or coffee facilities in room, restaurant nice but could do with later openings as closes at 9pm and they start to clear things around 8.30ish,good selection of food hot or cold with great variety drinks at meal times for all inclusive are water, beer, wine or soft drinks, drinks at bar are local brands only but that was ok,they have cider and Stella but you purchase that at half price, main bar closes at 12pm but there is a lovely cocktail bar so grab a few drinks and take them through there as otherwise you will have to purchase drinks there, pool area small for size of the hotel but having saying that your a few steps away from the beach and you get drinks in plastic glasses as to take on beach,
"""""""" LOUNGERS """"""" if you want to get up early to reserve one you can but we spent all our time on beach don't agree with reserving and some folk are off for long periods at a time shouldn't be allowed, roof terrace sun trap.
Trips we took the local bus into Palma well worth the ride,we bought the open top bus ticket from rep 14euros pp 1 euro cheaper to buy from rep and some handy tips from Steven, worth a trip but if its the cathedral and port your going to see don't buy the open bus ticket as the local bus goes by the cathedral and get off there as you could spend the whole day there FANTASTIC place, also we done Kamandu upside down house just before Magalluf great fun lots to see & do inside, we again bought the special 3 tickets that get you into house,4D movie and the crazy golf but the advantage is you can use the tickets at stages through our your holiday so another evening after tea we done crazy golf so glad we did it at night 2hrs to get round,if you did it in day time NO SHADE would not have been as good ,walked into Magalluf a few nights worth the laugh and lots of good bars with entertainment, hotel entertainment was ok aimed for mix variety, over all I would HIGHLY recommend this hotel for all ages as our daughter 20 and her friend were there 3weeks before us and loved it as well, they also upgrade to all inclusive so that's saying something for that age group 20/21 yrs old. Its a 3stars but think it should be upgraded to 4 stars

A really lovely hotel, nice staff, great food, very clean, entertainment fairly good. Pool too small for size of hotel very noisy and lots of lilio's which should not be allowed in a pool area so small. Overall a lovely hotel would go back.

Stayed with my daughter aged 11 and had a lovely holiday. What a pleasure waking up and looking out at that view. Yes the hotel did caterer for the older generation but met some lovely people. The staff were at all times friendly and attentative no problems there. Yes the rooms were dated and a little basic but kept very clean anyway who wants to go on holiday and spend time in their hotel room. However the high light of my holiday and one of the funniest things I have ever seen was the morning race to the sunbeds. One particular man had me rolling around in stiches as he ran across the sun deck every morning then his wife passed the lilo and towels down from their balconey so he could arrange their sunbeds. Well done John you were a star. The food was not the greatest but we always managed to find something to make a meal of. The hotel should either go all inclusive or half board not to try to mix the two it felt very separated and a bit like you were excluded if you went all inclusive.
