A bit of a strange experience really! The Hotel is very well appointed, and in an excellent location. Our stay got off to a poor start, with no parking available for our car - plus the "shrugged shoulders" attitude of the staff.

Not to be deterred, we were happy with our small box room - perfectly adequate, if not memorable. The next test was the garden/pool - which (again) was a mixed bag. The pool itself is very nice, but the grubby grass surrounds is defo in need of attention.

On to the food - well what a laugh!! Our room card indicated dinner from 18.30 - 21.00 - so off we trotted at around 8.30 (20.30). By that time the restaurant was virtually deserted, as were a fair amount of the offerings! To be fair, what remained of the buffet looked wholesome - and apart from luke warm soup, we began to enjoy our fill. What we did not realise was that the whole restaurant CLOSED at 21.00 - and one by one everybody seemed to disappear. Then the lights started to go out!! All it wanted to end the comedy was someone putting the milk bottles out!!

By 21.20 my Wife and I were eating our sweet in semi darkness - quite an experience! The following night we were lectured, and I mean lectured, by one of the Management - Dinner finishes at 21 NOT 21.30!!! Lesson learned!

Other than that little episode, the food was a typical buffet. Adequate, but hardly memorable or exciting. Breakfast was much the same - no real complaints.

The bar staff were very efficient, and indeed deserving of praise. The entertainment was as good as you might hope for, although on one of the nights the young couple performing were hopelessly mismatched with the clientele.

Finally, on departure, absolutely no interaction with the man at reception. He took our money, asked no questions, and left us to our own devices.

Oh, one final point, we were (to the best of our knowledge) the only Brits in the hotel. My German has improved no end!!

We were delighted with the Nilo and Spa Hotel. Our room looking towards the pool and garden was very comfortable and clean. We greatly appreciated the fridge which was empty and available for our own drinks, this was much better service than at other hotels where they threaten you with fines if you dare to leave your own bottle of water in the fridge!
The spa was a great place to relax with it's lovely indoor pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam rooms. The food was excellent with an abundant choice of food for breakfast and the evening buffet. There was always freshly grilled fish and meat as well as a variety of other dishes and plenty of vegetables. The coffee at breakfast was very good.
The staff went out of their way to be friendly and helpful. We were the only English people staying there which we liked, everyone was very pleasant and we enjoyed trying to speak some German and Spanish.
We enjoy walking and found the little folder of walking guides which cost 2 euros at the Tourist Information very useful. We used the local buses to explore along the coast and inland to Calvia and Es Capadella. It is easy to get to Paguera by bus. Catch no:1 from the airport to Placa Espanya (main bus station) 2.50 Euro. then the 102 to Paguera 3.60 Euro.

Room Tip: Probably best to avoid rooms overlooking the road.

After hours of looking and reading about hotels, I finerly came across GROUPOTEL NILO & SPA, Paguera. What a stroke of luck. It is a mainly visited by German and Spanish and the discriptions of some of the menu dishes are only in German and Spanish. ( I think this is because thay want to keep it to them selves.) But the quality and variety of dishes on offer was superb. Also the staff could not have been better. I would like to thank all of them for making our stay so enjoyable.
The hotel definatly deserves its four stars. We arrived 17th July 2012 for seven days our room 104 was on the first floor. Bedroom, good beds, fridge, flatscreen TV, ( Only 3 English channels CNN, Sky news, and a Kids channel.) A safe ( small charge ) plenty of storage.( Tip, take a travel kettle.) The Shower-room excellent clean large shower, with large nice quality shower gell, Sink, Hair dryer, Toilet, Nice quality towels ( changed regular ). The Ballcony with views ( Ours was to the right mountains and to the left we could see the sea through trees. With the old tower of the hotel directly in front of us. This didnt create a problem we had 2 very comfortable agusterble sun chairs with cushions and a table to enjoy our tea or cold drinks.) If you are expecting large rooms thay are not, but we found them more than enough not to feel cramped.
One of the bigest surprises we found was that what ever time we came back to the hotel pool area we were able to find a sunbed and umbrella without a towel on it. The pool area and garden are very well kept, with a small childs pool and play area away from the main pool. Along the hotel side of the pool their are plenty of tables and seats for coffees, teas, beers, ect. This also is used on most evenings with entertainment, singers, trios ect. ( All singing to the German and Spanish guests in English ).
Just a short walk away from the hotel you are on the main street with all the usual holiday shops and bars. This runs parallel to the promanard that runs all round the Paguera Bay with bars and restaurants all along facing the sea. The sea itself is ideal for all ages a very gradual slope with warm clear seawater splashing gently onto a beautiful sandy beach.
Yes Groupotel Nilo & Spa Thanks again Great food Great staff Great Hotel.
P.S. Forgot to use the Spa and Gym. I bet its nice though.

Stayed at this hotel for five nights at the beginning of May to celebrate a birthday. The hotel is in a quiet location of the main street through Paguera. We had a pleasant, sea view room in the tower. The buffet meals were excellent the staff were friendly and efficient. Although we were the only English people in the hotel (we think) the service we were given was excellent. We are thinking of going back next year.

Second stay this year (and 6th in last few years) but we will be giving it a miss next year. We had a flood in the middle of the night during heavy rain and, since water was coming through the ceiling into the built-in wardrobe, had to move all of our clothes, some of which were wet, and build a dam across the room with towels at 3am. We then had to transfer all of our belongings to another (smaller) apartment the next day and were not offered any help nor were we compensated in any way or offered any sort of official apology. I'm sorry but that's just not good enough!
The food was as good as ever but at E168 per night this made it an expensive stay.
Our favourite waiter has left and we found it very difficult to get any of the other waiters to smile! I suspect you would have to learn German to converse with most of them since the clientele is almost exclusively German.

Stayed here for a week in March via Easyjet flight from Bristol. Peguera about 20 miles
from airport (booked shared taxi for @£15). Hotel approx 4 mins walk from main street and seafront/beach and bus stop for exploring island. Very nice hotel with pretty gardens and outdoor pool. Separate spa with small indoor pool. Excellent buffet breakfast with everything you could want so no problem filling up for the day. Plenty of bars/restaurants to choose from in town for evening meal and pavement cafes for coffee & cake. A word of warning - this is primarily a German resort and hotel guests without exception all German, so staff tend to speak German, not English if anything. Having said that, it didn't make any difference to an enjoyable holiday. However, would imagine in peak season if hotel and resort full it would not be quite so pleasant although Peguera appears to be one of the quieter resorts. Would suit older people wanting relaxing, quiet break.
