“little gem of a place”
Reviewed 29 November 2013

we have now been here 3 times and I have just booked our 4th holiday here in june 2014...as both me and my hubby have been massive party animals in the past it is nice to chill out and relax here with our 8 yrs old daughter who loves the place... she loves the staff , the pool, the play area, the mini golf anf the little hour she gets with me in the spa which I have to say is amazing ( I work in a health club back home and the hotel spa beats it hands down )
We love how friendly the staff are and how they know us now and how close the hotel is the palma or magaluf ....the hotel is so clean and the food is fab.....we are even thinking of buying a place out there because it is such a nice little resort ..oh and the ship pub is really canny aswell as roxy beach a little gem of a place for us burnt out party animals

Room Tip: 6th floor in the cornor 356 I think is amazing views

Having booked the hotel based on tripadvisor reviews I found the hotel to be great value for the price. We were looking for an inexpensive hotel for a 4 night stay and overall was impressed.

The room we had was on the 4th floor with a balcony and fairly quiet and were able to get wifi connection ok in the room. There was a fridge for the mini bar which was handy to store our own drinks too.
Big buffet at breakfast which was ok and a big selection of hot and continental breakfast items.
Did not try the evening meals as went to local restaurants instead.

As it was November the hotel was not at full capacity which was good as we were looking for a relaxing break and found the atmosphere to be really laid back. The staff, particularly in the restaurant were very friendly.
The location is great as a lot of restaurants and bars and shops within a few minutes walk. I recommend Chameli's down the road it's great.
It's a short walk to the beach which is lovely and not too busy.
There have been alot of negative reviews but I think for the price this hotel is great. Maybe people expect too much or are overly fussy.
The only negative was that the outdoor pools were closed however it may be due to time of year and the beach is very close by anyway so we swam in the sea instead.
Overall a nice relaxing trip.

Room Tip: 4th floor was great and not too noisy

I have just returned from a week holiday at this hotel and I am greatly disappointed!
Usually when I go on holiday, before booking, my final decision is very much based on the reviews given by people having stayed at the hotel.
The reviews on this hotel were fantastic and it was wonderful to read that the staff were friendly, food was fantastic , the hotel was clean and it was conveniently situated close to the beach and Palma.
Well not so true ... In my experience!
The staff at the reception were not friendly at all and gave the worst directions ever... Twice! I almost missed my coach to the Aquarium as the staff gave me directions to totally the wrong place to wait for the coach! They, except the older bearded gentleman, were always on their mobiles!
The breakfast was very repetitive and the fruit juices were all powder in water which tasted terrible! Although cheap champagne is served at breakfast, I would recommend to the management to save the money for champagne and invest in better quality fruit juices!!! The coffee was also extremely strong and didn't taste nice at all. I must say that the staff working in the restaurant were very polite and professional. The food was nice with a good choice of fish dishes as I do not eat meat.
Yes the hotel was clean and the rooms were cleaned and towels were changed daily. We had a beautiful family room which although small, felt like a 2 bedroom flat! Unfortunately our room was on the same floor as the reception and the hotel bar so was quite noisy in the evenings with music, laughter and drunks! Also it was quite annoying as all through the night we could hear people flushing their toilets!
The hotel was conveniently close to shops and restaurants but as the hotel is in an expensive part of the area, everything including food was very expensive. A meal at a nearby Italian restaurant cost us €85 for 2 adults and a child! Although the hotel is not far from Palma, it costs €16 by taxi and €2.50 each (same for an 8 year old) on the bus for a 10 minute journey!
The hotel is not far from the beach(10 minute walk) but its down a steep hill which you have to walk back up!
The manager of the hotel, a kind old gentleman, is absolutely lovely and genuinely nice and it was a pleasure to see him every day although it was always small talk!
As a whole we enjoyed Palma and thought it was clean and lovely although expensive. The hotel was ok but with its very small pools, is not in my opinion, a proper summer holiday for families.

Cannot really fault the Hotel. Staff on reception were professional and courteous.

Only used dining facilities for breakfast no complaints whatsoever good choice.

The bar both at the pool and in the Hotel were well above average with very competitive prices.

There is a plethera of restaurant(s) and bars withing immediate walking that again were varied in cuisine types and again not overly expensive.

All in all a very nice stay.

They looked after 16 golf ears quite well. Breakfast was ok but you need to be early if you like it warm. Rooms are good, could be bigger but also have balconies. Good facilities.
Watch out for long walks to reception.

We have just returned from our second visit in the past 6 months from this hotel.
The location is excellent, just off the motorway and a ten minute walk to the beach/marina. There are a few bars/restaurants within a 2 minute walk and you can catch the bus to Palma every half an hour from outside the supermarket in Portals for 2.10 euro. A taxi to Palma was also reasonable between 15-20 euro each way.
The hotel has limited parking but we managed to find a space for our hire car.
Arrived early and were told we could check in which was great. Staff very helpful and friendly on all occasions.
We were on the 6th (top) floor on our last visit but this time we were on the 4th which was equally fine and pleasant, hardly any noise from the upstairs rooms.
Hotel rooms were of a typical "Spanish" style and were plenty clean enough and adequate. There was also a fridge and a safe in the room, very handy.
The pool was large and there were always plenty of sunloungers to be found, and as such, people didn't really reserve them with towels which was great. I believe the hotel hires out pool towels but we brought our own.
Breakfast was superb with a great variety of choice, yoghurts, jams, teas, coffees, juices (which need to be watered down with some water), cooked breakfast, european cold meats and cheeses and an omlette station which was great.
The hotel also offers a luggage storage room and a courtesy room with a shower and toilet and sink for people to use who have late flights. This service is invaluable and was one of the main reasons we booked again.
The spa in the hotel is fantastic, and its a shame it was so hot outside when we went otherwise we'd have used it. There are a number of different themed showers, and hot beds and stones, and a jet pool which all looked lovely.
There have been some complaints on here about how dated the hotel is, and complaints about the breakfast. At the end of the day if you're paying circa 50 euro a night you aren't exactly going to get the standard of a 4/5 star hotel in London. So if you're prepared to be realistic this hotel is a great find. I'm a complete hotel snob but we will definitely be staying here again in the future and will recommend to our friends.

Room Tip: All rooms on all floors are in an 'L' shape which overlook the pool. A higher floor may mean...

A real " find ", Hotel Marina has comfortable rooms, friendly and efficient staff and a great location for touring the island. Having opted for 4 nights bed, breakfast and evening meal, we were amazed at the standard ( and quantity! ) of food on offer. Breakfast could be fruit, eggs, bacon, cereals, virtually anything that could be named, all cooked fresh. Dinner was a different menu of buffet-style foods each night, steak, pork, various fish and HUGE prawns!
A 10 minute walk to the huge Marina, where restaurants offer Chinese, Spanish, Indian cuisine, pizza, cafe dining, all with a fabulous view of the water. A great roof-top bar called Harbour Lights offers relaxed seating areas and opens until late.
Only two minor criticisms. Tea and coffee in-room would be a great benefit
