We visited this hotel from the 12th-19th October, and I must we had a fantastic time. We would definitely recommend this hotel but as explained further on, we do have one or two suggestions that we think could improve the hotel further. Rooms were spacious, modern & cleaned to a very high standard. In a standard double room, the bed consisted of 2 twin beds pushed together, to be honest we would have prefered a double bed but this is personal preference (and if you upgraded to a Suite, I think you get this option anyway). There are no tea/coffee facilities in the room, we think this would have been a nice touch. We were situated on the 4th floor (7 floors in total, the higher you are the better), overlooking the habour and lighthouse in the distance. There are 2 main pools, both are kept very clean. There are plenty of sunbeds and sun brolly's. We spent our time at the main pool which has the water feature and the pool side snack bar (which offered great variety at good prices) but the other 'elite' pool you had to pay extra for. Yes this has a view of the habour but we thought this was the only benefit, as there is no bar to get refreshments. We didn't think it was worth the extra charge, we actually prefered the main pool. There is an indoor pool, gym, sauna & steam rooms underneath the main pool area. Alot of people thought this was closed, but in fact you had to simply use your room key to open the door. The indoor pool was kept at a comfortable warm temperature which helped at this time of year, definitely worth a swim! The area itself is quite remote and unspoilt. There are shops/bars/beach approx 10mins walk away, but due to it be out of season we found alot of the bars were closed this time of year. The habour is beautiful and it certainly makes your holiday if you like looking at beautiful scenery. The restaurant offered good choices for breakfast, although the main evening meals consisted mainly of veal, pork or fish. Personally we would have liked to have seen more choice (beef, chicken, etc) this does not take away from the variety of salads and desserts offered, but if you don't like the 3 offered then you would struggle. The one thing that did disappoint us as a young couple visiting the hotel, for evening meals men are requested to wear long trousers. We found this a very old fashioned request. We think tailoured shorts for men should be acceptable, after all they are more comfortable in hot temperatures and do not take away from the smart dress code. Entertainment in the hotel was good, Macio was very friendly and knew how to get people enjoying their evening without irratating you if you did not wish to take part. As a personal preference we would have liked the hotel to offer more live entertainment such as bands, singers or comedians etc. In the week we stayed we only saw one live show consisting of spanish dancers. The hotel is only open between April & October, and we were visiting the last week of the season. Unfortunately we did incur some inconveinence because of this. Some of the facilities were closed approx 5 days before the hotel closed for business, for example the pool snack bar was closed for food and drink due to cleaning. This did not bother us, but we felt like a notice should have been displayed or we should have been informed that due to it being end of season, some the facilites would be unavailable. Maybe the hotel can think about informing quests of this a few days before its actioned, to prevent any inconveinence. Lastly all the staff at the hotel were very friendly and really couldnt' do enough for us. We do have to give special mention to the bar staff - especially John. He made us feel like part of the El Vistamar family and we made a good friend there. We even had the pleasure of meeting his parents (His father is the night watchman, Eloy. But has retired this year at the end of the season, we would like to wish him a very happy retirement). Over all we throughly enjoyed our stay, even though we have given some suggestions on how the hotel could become even better. Hopefully the hotel can appreciate our recommendations, and we definitely look forward to visiting again in the future. Thank you for a lovely holiday. Sarah & Richard, South Wales, UK.
