My boyfriend and I have just come back from a quick 4-night break at the apartments. We booked last minute and received a very good deal. The apartments themselves are rather basic (and I was suprised by the amount of dust around the apartment) but overall were fine for our stay. Our one bedroom apartment was more than big enough for us. I wouldn't expect wonders with these apartments though - they are fine for spending the morning and evening getting ready to go out to enjoy the resort, but they are not in any way luxurious to spend time in! It was, however, just what we were after (whats the point on spending lots of money on a room you won't be in if you're enjoying the pool, beach and restaurants in the evening!!) On a good note, however, I thought the shower and water pressure was brilliant (which is sometimes a gripe in large apartment blocks.)

The pool and communal areas of the aparthotel were lovely. The pool area was always clean with PLENTY of sunbeds! They were stacked up on the side and always had plenty to spare so none of the usual grumbling about towels being on beds from 6am!

We did not spend much time in the bar, and didn't go in the restaurant, as we were self-catering. The entertainment always sounded fun though, and every member of staff we encounted in the whole hotel were extremely friendly and helpful. The reception staff especially were very helpful in booking us a taxi back to the airport.

The apartments themselves are not in Porto Colom but in Cala Marsal - which I believe was much nicer. The beach is a two minute walk from the apartments, and absolutely gorgeous - wish I was back there now! Sunloungers and parasols are available to rent at 12euro a day, and there were some lovely beachfront bars and restaurants which we had lunch at, and evening meals.

There is also a gorgeous restaurant just down the road from the apartments (turn left as you walk out reception) which we saw alot of people from our apartments, as well as lots of locals, eating at.

All in all, we had a lovely holiday in a lovely quiet resort. Beach and restaurants fantastic, pool & bar area in the hotel was lovely. Let down a tiny bit by the apartment but for the money we paid, we couldn't really expect much more!

Im not sure what the previous comment meant by rude reception staff as i found the reception staff to be very helpful and frankly the best part of the holiday resort, the plastic cups are in use purely as the pool is right next to the bar and during the day most drinks are consumed at pool side, i would recommend going self-catering as the hotels and bars around the area are extremely cheap to eat at with a nice meal, i also found that if you walk far enough across the beach you will find a lovely port which has some lovely restaurants and a nice walk, however the overall rooms state that there is a air conditioning unit in every unit in every room as they were not lying in this statement however to use this unit you must pay 75 euro to have it working for a week, moving on after requesting a high floor, with a double bed and late check out we were told we were staying on the ground floor with two single beds and check out at 11 am, we moved one of the beds from one side to the other side to create a double bed and was met with a great deal of dirt and dust from under the beds and i would recommend taking the shelves off of the wall as they hang and create a worrying atmosphere from the room.

Room Tip: Get a high room to actually have a view.

We bought a package with plane tickets and all inn all it cost around 250 euro for one week. We got a nice room at the second floor with a view to the pool and bar, plus a nice sorrounding with palm trees and such. We did note eat at the hotel but checked out the local bars and restaurants in Cala Masal. Nice tapas and paela at the beach places and fancier meals in Porto Colom and on the way there. The hotel staff were friendly and accommodating. We spent some time in the hotel bar with good drinks and nice chats. Diana and Carlitos put on good shows every night, with flamenco, kareoke and quizzes. They also invited us to beach wolley ball and fun games. Great people! The real cool thing about is that it's very relaxed and non-snobby. You can wander around barefoot, lay on the sunbeds by the pool and have a drink. Just passing time if you want to. The appartments are good value for money. You sleep well, and can cook your own meals if your're on a budget, as we were (students). The beach a Cala Masal is lovely. Nice and clean, and the Mediteranian water is torquise and clear. Go and and see the cliffs just on the way from the hotel to the other (secret) beach. Will definetly go back to Ola Cecilia! See you guys!

We arrived on 17th May and were told that they had only opened that day. The receptionist was very helpful and gave me and my husband an apartment next to our two friends (we had booked separately). We had gone self catering and booked a studio apartment that slept 2 or 3 people. The studio apartment was very basic with just a two ring hob which you had to use to boil a kettle on. There were 3 cups, plates, glasses, forks etc. The TV didn't work but we hadn't come to watch telly. The apartment was very clean, maids came in every other day to sweep up and change the towels. The beds were changed once a week.

You could have your meals in the restaurant, you just had to buy a ticket from reception. We had breakfast there a few times and for 5.5 euros it was well worth the money. There was the usual cereals, croissants, fruit, meats, cheeses and cooked breakfasts. As more people came the choice got even bigger. All the juices and hot drinks were included too.

The bar man Pablo was exceedingly friendly and so was Reuben. Pablo never seemed to stop work, he was always there and yet was always cheerful.

The two "entertainers" Carlitos and Diana were wonderful. They used to come around the pool and tell us what was going on, ie darts or volleyball in the afternoon. In fact Carlitos used to come down to the beach to set the volleyball court up and then come round the sunbeds to find us! But he never pressurised us to play if we just wanted to chill out! They had time for everyone, from the youngest to the oldest. At night they organised free bingo, karaoke and quizzes and dance lotto. There was a children's mini disco that they arranged and they always made sure the children were enjoying themselves. They made our holiday even more enjoyable and we can't praise them both enough.

All in all we had a fantastic holiday. Yes the apartment was basic but it was clean and really for the price we paid we couldn't expect more. If you want a relaxing holiday with some good laughs for a budget price this is the place to go.

We had an excellent time, there was me fiancé and our 2 year old son. For what we paid we couldn't asked for better, the room was basic but it had everything we needed. We had a room on the second floor overlooking the pool, pool area was very quiet. There is a beautiful beach two minutes walk away which we went to every day. Not much going on in cala marcal but that's how we like it. However we struggled to find a decent place to eat, hence why we paid for all inclusive which was fantastic value at 18 euros per day per adult, 2 and under go free. Food was great and drinks on tap! The staff were really friendly and overall a fantastic holiday, I would definitely return and recommend.
