We first went to Ola Cecelia 2 years ago and totally loved it, we went SC and the food at the bar was fab, the entertainment was excellent for the young children and teenages and the whole complex was very clean the beach is just across the road which was brill so we wanted to go back again. we have just returned from our second visit and OMG how things have changed - dont get me wrong the staff are still brill but they are focusing more on the All Inc families. They dont do meals at the bar so we had to eat out all the time, no icecreams to buy for your children as the cabinets now had yogurts in for All Inc Children, the entertainment on the last visit was in an arena our side so if you wanted to sit in the bar you could away from it all but now it seems they have cut costs as the entertainment was in the bar so if you were SC and went out for a meal when you came back there was nowhere to sit and there was plastic cups all over the place. The entertainment by the three youngsters was very poor and embarrassing at time and the highlight for us was watching Spain celebrate from our balcony winning the world cup !
As i said staff brill but having an 7 year old daughter and having to leave the complex to buy an icecream seems a bit crazy.

I have just come back from a week all inclusive at the Ola Cecilia Club and have had a lovely time, it was very relaxing.
I'm 19 and went with my mum for a girlie Holiday at first we were shocked at how basic the rooms were and when my mum has been to the Atlantis in Dubai this was quite a step down, however I was quite happy with the room, we had a studio apartment (no. 512) directly opposite reception and when you hardly spend anytime in there other than sleeping as long as it's clean it really doesn't matter, we only went to get a suntan! We met a lovely family while we were there and saw their family room in the main block and it was lovely really spacious!
Air conditioning worked in our room (I joked that it was set to a temperature to accomodate penguins as it made the room very cold!) but we did have to put down a €20 deposit for the remote control which we got back at the end of the holiday.
Rooms are cleaned twice a week, towels changed twice a week and bedding changed only once a week. They did forget to clean our room and change the towels the first time but as soon as you go and tell reception they send a cleaner straight over and it's sorted!
The only other problem we had with the room was that the lock on the front door broke meaning we were locked out of our room but again as soon as we told reception they sent a service man straight over and the lock was replaced and the problem solved all within 10 minutes.
The food was a bit bland and tasteless and also repetitive! I lived on croissants, chips, melon and salad. There was variety but not a huge selection because the hotel is so small anyway. We did end up eating out on two of the nights even though we were all inclusive we went to burger king in Cala Dor and to the restaurant/bar directly opposite the pool area and had a lovely meal there. Out of all of the meals breakfast was the worst for selection I stuck to the pastries because I'm not keen on German Sausages and there was no tomato sauce served at breakfast! Meal times are a bit odd too; breakfast was 8-12 lunch was 12-1:30 and dinner was 7-9:30! But again although not the finest cuisine, the restaurant is very clean, does at times get very busy but the staff are very friendly, the main Chef always went out of his way to come and say Hola to us and ask us if we were having a nice day and would even shout Adios to us when we left the restaurant too! The staff are very overworked you see the same staff all the time but just in different places on different days, they're particularly rushed during dinner time in the restaurant.
Pool area is very clean, although all the same depth apart from a small kiddie area it's 2.2 metres deep but is lifeguarded. On one of the days a child pooed in the pool and we did feel sorry for the lifeguard as it was his job to fish it out of the pool and I'm sure his pay does not justify that job! The pool area gets very busy and quite noisy at times, we much preferred the beach but then you don't get to use the all inclusive service during the day unless you walk back to the hotel which we didn't really fancy as there was quite a few steps to get down to the beach!
In the area the hotel is in, there isn't a lot to do, a few souvenir shops, a few restaurants and a spar shop! There are more shops over the other side of the beach in Porto Colom and a pretty harbour but it was quite a long walk away! On one of the days we went on the Starfish glass bottom boat trip which was very good! And on one of the evenings we took a trip to Cala Dor which is very beautiful and has many more restaurants and lovely shops so is well worth a visit but will cost you €15 euros each way in a taxi! The hotel entertainment was fairly good if you have young children, during the day the animation team aka The Fun team weren't as animate or fun as other animation teams I've seen elsewhere. We did really enjoy the Karaoke night in the bar on one of the nights! There is internet access via the computers in the bar area but there are only 3 and although it kills a bit of time to check your emails/facebook it would get quite pricey if you were doing it regularly at 50 cents for 5 minutes €1 for 10 minutes and €2 for 20 minutes!
All in all a very good, relaxing holiday! I don't know how people would cope staying there for 2 weeks as there isn't really much to do but for one week it really does the job! The maids are constantly cleaning, on one of the days they even painted the wall outside reception, but put no wet paint signs outside so people who sat on the wall waiting to leave for their transfers did have a white bum so be careful! I really recommend resorthoppa.com for transfers to and from this hotel. It cost £20 return per person and they were very good it only took an hour from the airport and your departure times on your way back to palma airport are displayed on the noticeboard in reception so it all went smoothly! I don't know whether we'd visit this hotel again because it is a 'been there, done that, got the t-shirt kinda place' once you've been there once however I would recommend it to a friend.

Were made to feel welcome as soon as we arrived and we were pleasantly surprised by the size and cleanliness of our two bed apartment .My 15 year old daughter was happy to take the camper bed in the living area which she said was comfortable as in the past always had to sleep on the sofa bed, The maids were always friendly and we had at least four change of towels in our 10 day stay.
Pool area was a good size although by the time we left the hotel was obviously becoming very full and at times it was difficult to get any space around pool side. The life guard was a caring guy who dealt with anything from bee stings to cut toes in a very diligent manner and was fare with his control of the behaviour beside the pool of the young children through to the teenagers.
Buffet style food was generally good although feel times of lunch finishing at 1.30pm and then dinner from 7pm till 9pm not quite right especially if you had not had your breakfast unitl after 10am, which anyone with teenagers will know is an early time!
Your only other choice out of these times were "stale" crisps at the bar or ice cream.
The entertainment was geared towards younger children but the two girls Jenny an Charlotte were great and did get the older kids playing football and water polo in the day.Big down side was the HUGE QUEUE each night for your drink. All inclusive customers had to queue in one line and could only have a maximum of two drinks at a time in childrens size plastic cups which if you did not catch on early would be mainly filled with ice before you got any drink in them.Patricia was fab as she would ask what you wanted and even remembered what you drank! Kids had to het there own and could only have one which as we had to pay adult prices for all of our being over 12 we feel was a con. It made you feel inferior and even greedy that you seemed to be constantly queuing for drinks and felt sorry for families with very young children as the children had to be present at the bar to get their drink.
Beach was lovely and easy walking distance with clear sea and life guards on hand, Not much in the resort so for this reason would probably look for a lively resort next time.
Overall we had a good family holiday but the rating for the hotel is average due to the minus points.

As a family of five with three teenagers 14,15,17 overall this was a very value for money holiday which we enjoyed. Rooms were good with air con and the food was excellent.
The resort is quiet but most are on the east coast of Majorca.
I found several of the staff to be snappy, miserable and rude( although Patricia and the life guard fella were superb).

My big moan would be that all inclusive customers are forced to form an orderly (very long at times) queue at the corner of the bar, whilst if you are paying for drinks you get served instantly from anywhere around the bar...AND all inclusive customers get very very very very small plastic beakers for all drinks whilst the priviliged few who are paying get "GLASS" and proper sized drinks. The fact that you can only get two drinks at a time means when i went to the bar i could only get a drink for me and my wife and the kids had to go and get their own which is stupid and cheesed a lot of people off. Be prepared to queue!!!!!!!!!!

Also beware of flying out late on your last day because rooms have to be vacated at 12 and no provision is made for courtesy rooms at all.

Entertainment is ok, pool is deep all over so no shallow end which isn't great.

The fact that we love Majorca meant that the few niggly things were overcome and we had a good holiday.

Wanted a cheap relaxing holiday and that's what we got.

Ola Cecillia has it's + and - points in summary;

Accomadation

The accomadation is basic
No air con in the main bedroom
There were sure a lot of ants in the kitchen work surfaces at the time
No microwave
Rooms were only made up once - should be twice for a one week stay

All Inclusive

Becuase of the euro rate eating out was out of the question for the 6 of us - so we switched to all iclusive - 17.50 for adults and 9 euro for kids per day - including drinks which was very good value.

The food court is basement level so its all a bit dark and depressing - but you can eat from 7am to 1pm and then again in the evening so its ok, but you can only get tea or coffee in the food court in the morning which was a pain. But then again plenty of food to eat on offer and it was hot.

Getting free drinks from the bar was a pain they came in small plastic cups so you were always queuing and when 15 to 20 people are ahead of you and there is only one person serving its not a lot of fun, but you were allowed to get two cups at a time.

Evening Enttertainment

3 nights were quiz nights and the other 3 were forms of very poor sining. Defo a big let down.

Swimming Pool.

On the small size and defo will be difficult to use during the peak season

Beach

Not very long so defo will be very packed udring peak season.

Other

Pop down to the hotel at the bottom of the hill and you can see what can be achieved - nice pool, food court, even a gym - after seeing that heading back to our was a little depressing.

One of the two pool tables was broken, there was no chalk for the que's and the table tennis bats had seen better days - also one of the urinials in the gents was missing.

There is no doubt this place could do with some updating.

Shops

Spar was very close by - plently of places to go out and eat if you can afford it, but only the ones overlooking the beach have a nice view.

Summary

If you have small children and just want to chill by the pool - avoid peak season, come for only one week and you will have a lovely cheap holiday.

Staff all very pleasant and helpful. We stayed in a studio (husband, me and 12 year old (nearly a teenager!) which had 3 single beds and self catering equipment. Although we were all inclusive, fridge was handy for cold drinks. Entertainment for children every day by superb 'funteam'. They also did bingo etc at night for the adults.

All inclusive was great. Food was brilliant - so much variety and everything was included. Although all drinks inc, alchohol came in small plastic cups, this was good, as it stopped people going over the top!! Bar open 11am-11pm.

Although very quiet resort, beautiful, clean beach with 3/4 banana boats was a couple of minutes away and a few gift shops close by. Chemist about a mile walk away (no bus) atound harbour.

Swiming pool on site was busy and quite noisy, which we didn't mind, but some people might.

All in all lovely relaxing beach holiday.

We arrived late at night after a stressfull drive from the Airport (first time hiring a car) and were immediatly able to begin relaxing. The staff were friendly and the apartment was very spacious although we couldn't get the air conditioning to work. We later found out that it was controlled by the management and they did not deem it hot enough, although we certainly did. Consequently we had to sleep with the windows open, got several mosquito bites and were awoken around 3.30/4.00 by the Cockeral. Believe me it definatley exists, but it depends on which block you are in as to whether or not you hear it. Fortunatly after a few days the Air con' was switched on, apart from one day which was overcast when it was switched off for 24 hours, back to sweltering humidity all night. This does really illustrate the penny pinching approach at the Cecilia. The most irksome example of which is all drinks served at the bar to "All Inclusive" guests are in approx 200ml plastic cups whether its coffee, beer spirits or any thing else, leading to a lot of time spent queueing for what you have allready paid for
Having said that the staff work very hard indeed, they have to there are so few of them and with the one exception mentioned by previous reviews were all very friendly. To be fair even that one member of staff was working so many hours its no wonder he appeared to get a bit stressed, I don't think they have heard of The Working Time Directive at the Ola Cecilia.

The food was most of the time very tasty a good variety of choice, slightly spoiled by the canteen style, even for the eveng meal. I couldn't understand why tea or coffee was only allowed at breakfast time, just another somewhat pointless little rule.

Regarding the pool it doesn't compare to the more modern Lagoon type pools, but it was great for cooling off in and our two Boys 5+9 loved it. I wouldn't regard it as any more dangerous than a 4ft deep pool, as I believe all children should be supervised in any depth of water.

As to the resort, it is isolated and whilst we were there it resembled a ghost town when you went out for a walk in the evening. During the day though the excellent beach was very busy and popular for families with small children. We generally alternated one day in the resort, beach/pool and one day out in the hire car.Which we got through CarDelMar and was supplied by Europcar at the Airport problem free £255 for the fortnight, immediatly saving the £80 transfer charges. Great value although we did book well in advance.

Overall the old maxim "you get what you pay for" applies, this is a budget priced hotel in need of refurbishment that manages to give a lot for the money and we certainly enjoyed our Holiday even if sometimes things at the hotel could have been run better. It would be nice to think the management might read these reviews and make a few small changes that could turn this hotel into a really great place for a family holiday.
