“Great apartment”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 March 2014

Very well equipped apartment and excellent, attentive staff service. Only negative points - the distance (about a mile from the beach area) and the high cost of wi-fi. Did not use the spa and this was an additional cost but that said, the price of the apartment was very reasonable for the quality. We moved to an apartment in Magaluf where the quality was light years away, in comparison.

Room Tip: We had a ground floor room which only had the sunshine in the morning - suggest you choose a higher...

Stayed for a week 8-15 March and ended up wishing we could have stayed longer. Great accommodation in a quiet part of town. We were lucky enough to be given a room on the 6th floor that came with rooftop terrace as well as balcony and although the weather wasn't great these still got some use. As had been said in other reviews, the facilities in the apartment can't be faulted, Sony TVs with a good choice of Spanish, German and English channels, everything you could possibly need in the kitchen and a really comfortable bed. All in all, one of the best apartments we have had in over 20 years of aparthotel holidays topped up with friendly and approachable staff answering every question by starting with a smile. I've scratched my head and tried to come up with something to water down the gushing enthusiasm but I can't. If you want a great apartment away from the busy centre of town but still only 15 to 20 minutes walk from the harbour this is it.

Room Tip: Go for the 6th floor, the rooms have roof terraces as well as balconies

3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 February 2014

We stayed here for just 3 nights and I'd like to start by say this is a really lovely hotel, but do read on. We had a fantastic room, recently refurbished, 2 bedrooms - one with en-suite bathroom and a separate shower room closer to the second bedroom. Everywhere was very clean and fresh.

The kitchen had virtually everything you could need - even a small dishwasher and a couple of washing tabs, washing liquid in a dispenser and a new scourerer.

There was a wash room with washing machine - and a couple of washing tabs. And 3 bins clearly labelled for recycling.

Spacious lounge had a great TV and audio system and a 2nd TV in the main bedroom. The Balcony overlooking the pool had comfortable sunbeds and table and chairs.

On the down side you had to pay extra for the saftey deposit box, you had to pay to use the sauna and jacuzi, the outdoor pool was closed. We would have happily paid an extra £5 each per night when we booked to have had these things included even though we may not have used them. Also the hotel has only 3 parking spaces and 2 disabled spaces, but you can park on the road is there is free space.

On the worst side we had 2 nights of disturbed sleep as on our second night - from 7pm until about 2am - the guest above us were either moving furniture or having a party. My husband phoned the receptionist around 12 midnight, who seemed to take no action, he phoned again about 30 minutes later and finally when we went down to the reception the night staff said he would go to the room to aske them to be quiet - this was about 1.30am. He told us that they had been drinking. That resulted in the guests above us stopping moving the furniture but were not quiet until around 3.00am - when I guess they fell asleep, unlike me! It was their last night so we thought the following night would be ok ............

but on our third night - feeling very tired from the night before - we went to bed around 9.30pm and were woken at 10.30pm by a load male voice out on one of the balconies. My husband phoned and asked the receptionist if she could ask them to be quiet. Dispite her phone call to the room and her shouting from the ground to the balcony asking for them to be quiet the noise continued. I went to the reception and was told that these guests where staying for 3 months and the children were difficult. I tried to contact the hotel manager, but only got voice mail. The receptionist tried again by telephoning the room to ask that they be quiet. It made no difference so I had to take the course of action to ask the person - who turned out to be a "youth" who was talking (shouting) on his telephone on the balcony next to us - to please go inside the hotel and be quiet. He did immediatly. By this time it was 12midnight and I could not get back to sleep.

So I return from my long weekend birthday break more tired than when I went .....

Room Tip: Ask for one that is on the top floor and take ear plugs just in case !

4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 February 2014 via mobile

We visited Garden Lago for one week in mid February 2014.
We went with our family of five and a family of three.
It is in a quiet part of Alcudia Port, well away from the marina and a 20 minute walk from the beach.
We use a hire car and prefer a quiet place so this was of no detriment to us.
Be aware that out of season the immediate surrounding area is VERY quiet.
The accommodation is very nicely presented, public areas are well maintained.
Our two bedroomed two bathroomed apartments were immaculately clean and decorated to a high standard in contemporary style, with quality fittings such as Sony TVs, a dishwasher, air conditioning / heating, full utility room with a washing machine, etc. there was nothing we needed that we could not find within the apartment.
We did not have the opportunity to sample the on site restaurant or bar as it was closed during our visit.
All the staff were really excellent; polite, helpful, smart, always smiling. This included the lovely lady who cleaned our apartment, and the maintenance man on site.
The pool was as cold as a polar bear's handshake, and the jacuzzi was not much warmer, but this was obviously out of season.
I can highly recommend the high standard of accommodation and fantastic staff, although non car users out of season may find it a tad too quiet and away from the main resort.
For an excellent value meal I can highly recommend the Restaurant Alcudia opposite Lidl, the high quality three course set lunch with good wine and water for 9 euros is incredible value and a great way to while away two hours, Mallorcan style. Don't let the anonymous position and plain decor put you off trying it.
The Caves of Drac in Porto Christo offer a really interesting morning or afternoon out if the weather lets you down, this is around a 40 minute drive from the resort.

We have stayed at Garden Lago 3 times now, and were impressed by the staff on each visit .The reception ladies are friendly welcoming, very knowlegable about he local area and always helpful and fun. The housekeeping staff even remembered us after 2 years! they were delightful ladies hardworking, respectful, helpful, always smiling, nothing too much trouble. They feel more like friends than paid staff. The Hotel, well I suppose its an apart hotel really, has views over the lake, which makes it feel open and peaceful, the appartments are very well equipped, and finished to a high standard, the beds are comfortable and there are sofas and arm chairs to relax in, Tv DVD player , evverything you need.

Room Tip: Ask for the " Penthouse " you get the sun all day on 2 Balconies

We got this apartment as a special offer from Interval International.

The welcome from the desk staff was fantastic, and our two bedroom apartment was superb, with fully equipped kitched. The bathroom had no bath, but did have a large walk-in shower.

The pool and on-site restaurant were not available, but, in late January, this was not surprising. We didn't explore any of the other advertised services, so cannot comment on them. All of Mallorca (not just the local area) is pretty quiet in January, so you can't hold the hotel responsible for that, but we rather appreciated the peace.

I should note that the apartments are being refurbished at the moment, and we got a fresh one. Although I assume that the plan is to complete the programme for the 2014 high season, readers should bear in mind that this isn't necessarily so.

Visitors should also be aware that the centre of Porto Alcudia is some 30mins walk away, although there are more more 'local' watering holes and bars to hand. However, with a Supermarket next door, we took full advantage of the kitchen to eat-in at night, and had lunches elsewhere on the island.

The nearest beach is a little closer (perhaps 20mins walk), but positioning for drivers is very good. Being at the back of Porto Alcudia, it is very easy to access from the Palma-Alcudia motorway, and very handy for exploring the east end of Mallorca.

I have been doing timeshare exchanges for nearly 20 years, and this is the best I have had yet.

Room Tip: Top (sixth) floor has a roof-top terrace, and the best views.

This was an interval international exchange made last summer. We fully appreciated it was low season, but were a little disappointed to find the area quite so quiet, and the restaurant closed, never did find out whether the gym was open. Our apartment was changed from the original one, which proved to be rather noisy. The apartment was extremely well fitted out, and we were very comfortable in it. The housekeeping was perfect, and any request was cheerfully and quickly dealt with. Francesca and Theresa in particular, were so helpful and well-informed, and we cannot praise them enough. We did not partake of any of the activities/meetings but it was nice to know they were there. the location around the lake was ideal, and we enjoyed strolling around it.
We understood that maintenance/reformation work was going to be carried out, and sadly this did spoil the last few days of our two week holiday, as the banging/drilling etc was right underneath and highly intrusive. We felt that maybe it would be more appropriate if the hotel were to close down for a week or two at this time of year, so as not to inconvenience guests.
As we were there during two 'holiday' events there were probably more people in residence than usual at the hotel, and there was considerable loss of sleep with late night guests returning (the bedrooms are very close to the outside passage). However, this is not the hotels fault, more a personal issue of not appreciating the Spanish lifestyle. We wouldn't visit the island during mid/high season!
Overall, we did enjoy our holiday very much, had a great day out in Palma, drove up to Cap Formentor, into the Tramuntanas, and other places, and overall had very good weather.
