“Great hotel shame about the food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 July 2014

This Hotel is in a great location for getting to the beach and local attractions- the hidropark is only 5 mins away. The hotel itself was really nice with loads of seating in the reception and bar area as well as outside around the pool. Rooms were spacious even with 3 beds in it and all areas of the hotel were spotlessly clean.
The one downside of this hotel is the food! There were some good meals but you need to check as lots of it was lukewarm or cold. Also although it said all inclusive all snacks like crisps and ice cream you have to pay for- only burgers available as snacks. They also don't provide bottled water- but you can buy it from the local spar.
Overall really happy with hotel but food was a bit of a let down.

Room Tip: Front of hotel is quite noisy due to entertainment till about 11:30 pm so if you have children may w...

ARRIVAL

We arrived at approximately 1.30PM and we were able to check in immediately at reception and given a 3rd floor front pool view room. We enquired about WiFi and were told it would be 20 euros for the seven days and given a code you could only use on one device at any time, wife choose this and I used my data package, Wifi was unrelaible and kept cutting off regularly so wife was not amused at all.

ROOM

We were given a room on the 3rd floor with views overlooking the pool and lake. We were unaware there were re-furbished rooms on the 4th floor so this did not make any difference to us at the time. Contrary to brochure information and also the hotels own website we didn't have a hairdryer in the room which was quite annoying as wife had purposefull not brought hers for this reason so ladies be aware of this. Beds by the way are rock hard and pillows barely worth putting on the bed. Air Con is as described in other reviews and quite pointless actually. The walls are paper thin and do not keep much noise out from adjoining apartments, particularly in the bathroom area.........................in general the rooms were adequate but could do with a full re-furbish and perhaps some nice new beds would go a long way

POOL AREA

The pool area surprisingly had plenty of sunbeds but a severe lack of umbrellas. You had to be up with the Dawn Patrol to try and get a brolly for the day, no major issues with bed reservations as most people seemed to occupy there chosen beds. The pool isn't huge and perhaps could do with being a bit larger but that would no doubt be an expensive undertaikng for the hotel. The pool bar had various drinks and ice cream available, although the small plastic cups drinks were served in could again perhaps be increased to avoid unneccessary queing and multiple orders.

ENTERTAINMENT

In one sentence "An absolute farcical joke, second rate, amateurish and poor pub entertainment" - enjoyed by many, loathed by others, ourselves included..

HOTEL STAFF

Again a mixed bag, cleaners coming in to our room basically did not do much at all, on at least 3 seperate occasions I observed while down at the pool the cleaner in our room and not once did she open the door and go on the balcony to sweep, check ashtray etc. I had to "borrow" toilet roll from the gents loo downstairs as none left in the room a couple of times. Bar staff were either downright surly and rude to a couple who were genuinly friendly, mpstly at the pool bar during the day, not impressed at all, Dining room staff were generally friendly.

DINING / FOOD

For the first few days of our holiday the food was reasonably good, to a medium standard and generally well cooked. 3 Star it is and 3 star is what you get, no frills, no luxury, everything is done on a budget and it shows on the dishes provided, predominantly fish dishes with a chioce of one or two meat style dishes. However by the latter part of our stay when the hotel was filling up, food quality took a huge dip - raw pork sausage cooked at the grill station being the prime example, a hair in my wife's dinner and when mentioned to the waiter, rather than being concerned, simply stated "it's not mine", you couldn't make that up to be honest. Next day wife had to actually show the cook at breakfast how to actually "fry an egg properly" to ensure it was properly cooked, again you couldn't make that up and summed up completely the lowering standards in the dining room. We decided to eat out a couple of nights and had a lovely Indian at Maharaj on the Bellevue strip.

OVERALL

The road train stops outside the hotel from 9am to midnight and is a perfect excuse to get out and about.
The hotel does not inspire in any way, although the public areas are kept clean, in particular one night in the gents toilet a cubicle had been smeared in excrement and was not a pretty sight, I mention this, not to slight the hotel but to exemplify the type of guest that the hotel seems to attract, the Jeremy Kyle generation are well at home here and appear to be welcomed with open arms - we are not prudes, upper class in any way shape or form, however we do have certain standards for human beings but clearly others did not. I would suggest there are many other hotels in Alcudia which would benefit customers more than Lagomonte so consider others before coming here.

Room Tip: Rear rooms will give you more peace and quiet at night away from the drunken rowdiness.........

We spent 2 weeks there in June/July. The hotel has a nice island with a pool, snack bar and sunbeds, we spent our days there it was very relaxing (apart from when when one couple who decided to play their music loud which was annoying and showed lack of respect for everyone else who had no choice than to listen to it) The island was a great retreat from the rowdy idiots that were around the main pool. Food was good, better than a 4 star that we stayed in last summer in the Costa Brava. The room was OK, a bit drab but clean, the balcony faced the back of the hotel which was OK because you could not hear the entertainment of a night and the sun was on the room in the evening so you could dry your clothes. Aircon was a waste of time, it is preset at 23 degrees and you can not lower it, it was unpleasant. Staff very friendly and helpful. The drinks were OK, the beer was good through out the day but of a night time it was always flat. Entertainment, we never watched it as we always went out to avoid the kids disco etc. Some behavior from the guests was not good, it made you embarrassed to be English, no wonder we have a bad reputation. There is a free bus to take you to the beach, but it is a pleasant walk. Area around is full of English bars and restaurants so we used to to go to the port as it was more Spanish rather than being in Blackpool. Would I return? yes but I like to go to different hotels, one couple had been there 14 times and were returning again in September.
Well done to all the staff.

¡Nos lo pasamos muy bien! Muchas gracias a todos.

Room Tip: The island area is lovely and you get away from all the noise.

CHECK IN

We arrived at approximately 11am and we were able to check in immediately with the English receptionist. We enquired about WiFi and were told it would be 20 euros for the seven days and given a code you could only use on one device.

ROOMS

We were given a room on the 5th floor with views overlooking the pool and lake. It wasn't one of the refurbished rooms but it was pleasant enough. I was surprised to find they didn't have a hairdryer in the room. We just put up with damp hair. The walls are really thin and one afternoon we could hear a guy named Josh and his girlfriend having a REALLY good time. You could also hear the entertainment fully through closed balcony doors. But you know, who goes on holiday to sleep at 10pm?

POOL AREA

The pool area had plenty of sunbeds but lacked umbrellas. You had to be up at 7.30 to get one. Not so bad if you're an early riser. The pool isn't too big but nice enough. The pool bar had various drinks and ice cream available on the all inclusive. We didn't go over to the island so I can't comment what that was like.

ENTERTAINMENT

The people who joined in with the various day time activities seemed to love the entertainers. I found if you didn't volunteer yourself to join in they weren't particularly friendly. The evening entertainment was made up of various outside acts such as Lady Gaga, Tina Turner and Irish dancers. And there was a mini disco. It was fine but nothing overly amazing. If you didn't want to sit outside in the evening you could sit in the reception area and read or play cards if you fancied something a little more low key.

FOOD

I saw so many people walking around with just chips, cheese and spaghetti on their plate and I couldn't understand why. There was always a variety of foods you just had to be a little creative. There was always fresh fish and meat being grilled. Always fresh salad, pastas and then various other dishes. You could have anything from salmon to ribs within the week. I wouldn't say they have much variety for children. It was pretty much sausage beans and chips.

Breakfast ranged from full english to cereal to pastries and so on.

Desserts weren't the best but you win some you lose some.

OVERALL

We had a pleasant stay. I was neither overwhelmed nor disappointed and that is pretty much what you should expect from a 3* property. There was nothing terrible about the place. The clientele were an interesting bunch to say the least but it made for excellent people watching.

No complaints. We had a nice holiday.

We arrived not expecting too much due to the price we had paid and after reading some of these reviews. Check - in was quick and efficient. Safe hire was a bit pricey ... 3.50euro per day with a 5euro deposit. Room was a good size, clean and everything functional. Air con really not cool enough as thermostat is preset to 22 degrees. Food was hot and edible, although somewhat overcooked. Desserts were not good, too warm which caused everything to become liquid. Bar staff ok, some better than others. We did complain one day about the noise coming from the room above us at 2.30am and nothing was done about it. However, the positives outweigh the negatives. The hotel is kept spotlessly clean and uses an army of cleaners and chambermaids. Fresh towels and linen daily. Pool nice and clean, plenty of sunbeds. The island was a lovely retreat for a more peaceful time. Some of the guests behaviour left a bit to be desired. I'm all for having a drink and a good time but some just don't know where to draw the line and showed a lack of respect for other guests. One couple, who both had teeth like a set of snooker balls, only with the white ball missing were constantly drunk and arguing. My advice is to keep yourselves to yourselves and you will have an enjoyable stay. The resort is fantastic with great bars, restaurants and entertainment. Beach has to be the best in Majorca. All being considered, we would probably return if the price was right.

Room Tip: Get a room high up and at the back to avoid noise.

I stayed at this hotel with my boyfriend from the 29th june to the 9th of july. We were on the top floor facing a field even though we requested a pool view. The hotel overall was good. The rooms big and clean and we had maid service everyday. The food was boring, the same thing everyday; burgers, chips, pizza. hardly any salad bits and the snack bar was the same. The puddings were awful, they consisted of runny chocolate/strawberry stuff with cream on top. Drinks were good and never limited; you can get juice and tea/coffee at any time of the day. The shops is a 5 minute walk away just down by the jolly roger pub. The beach is a 10 minute walk away but there is a free bus every half hour on most days. The pools were nice, always plenty of sunbeds although it was starting to get busier when we left.We spent a lot of time on the island as was a lot quieter. There were a lot of mosquito's and we got bit a lot; that is probably because of the lake but it was lovely to walk around. The staff were all lovely and friendly and helpful. The evening entertainment consisted of something for the children and then a show until around 11:30. There is a train that runs around the island for 3 euro each and on Tuesdays and Sundays it takes you to the market where it drops you off at stop 9 then includes a 10 minute walk. The walk was not 10 minutes, more like 30 minutes all up hill. We both enjoyed the holiday and the hotel just a shame about the mosquito's.

Room Tip: We requested a pool view but never got one.

We booked this hotel as a last minute deal, for an all inclusive it was definitely value for money... we thought. We had a good look at previous reviews, some good, some bad, but we decided to go with an open mind. When booking we paid extra for a superior room £100 to guarantee we had "private facilities", which we thought would mean fridge, air con etc... not exactly out of the question facilities for a 3 star hotel but we wanted to be sure. On checking in when we asked if we had been allocated a superior room we were told by the receptionist that all the rooms are exactly the same, they don't do superior rooms, so we asked what was the extra £100 for then? They all had aircon but if we wanted a fridge it would be another €55, to add to the €26 safe key and €5 television remote. We were not impressed but the staff at reception quickly relocated us to one of their best rooms, which in layman terms means, newly decorated. The room was nice and clean, pool facing with lots of storage space, however the aircon didn't go below 23, so it was impossible to stay in the room for any length of time, we left a card in to power the electric and aircon all the time but it made little difference. Getting ready in the evening was done as quickly as possible before we started sweating again. I spoke to the front desk but there was nothing they could do for us. The hotel pool is a good size, there was always a flurry of activity for the kids and adults, but we opted for the island, very quiet, lots of sun loungers, with snacks, beer and sangria on tap all day, but tiny glasses and no cider for all inclusive in the hotel. The food here is not good, and although i could find something to eat every night, soup or pasta or chips, none of it was appetizing. The vegetables left a terrible aftertaste and some of the fish was regurgitated into a new dish for the next day. My partner got sausages the last night we ate there, he waited a while for the chef to cook them in front of him but when he cut into them, RAW, he ended up having the soup. Breakfast was better, with the most choice. The staff were friendly and the chambermaids work very hard. Some of the clientele in the hotel leave a lot to be desired, one couple being referred to as The Jeremy Kyle couple, started rowing upon their arrival, making sure to involve some of the other guests, so we gave them a wide birth, then the Obnoxious Scotsman, who not content asking for something at the bar, had to shout from one end of the hotel to the other, then dropped his shorts to the onlooking people in the pool, kids and adults, and last but far from least, the Pucker, lay at the front door of the hotel being goaded by his friends and a few onlookers, plastered and asleep covered in his own vomit... we had to step over him to get through the front door, the receptionist took no notice... Entertainment was standard, nothing to write home about. Not a great hotel or experience, i would return to Alcudia but not to this hotel.
