“Great hotel for the money”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 November 2013

Had a very enjoyable break at the Marina Delfin. The hotel delivers on everything you would expect from a 3 star hotel. Staff were brilliant from reception to lifeguard. I enjoyed the food at breakfast and evening sittings we did not go to lunch as we used the snack bar which could do with some adult type food or we were out at the beach. The bar was well staffed and run, even when there was a long queue you didn't have to wait long to be served. Entertainment was good and we enjoyed most of the shows. The rooms could do with a bit of TLC but it was towards the end of the season.

The only bad point of this break was nothing to do with the hotel we had the transfers from hell both ways with Quicktravel AKA Resorthoppa some people had 2.5 hour transfers this was just unacceptable with a full bus dropping of 2 to 4 people at every hotel it was not good.

Just returned from our fifth visit (over a seven year period) still as welcoming as our first vist.
walked into reception to be met by Kati who said she had received my mail asking for a room in a specific area / floor, but she also informed us that she had not received our booking from the travel agent, but as we had a fidelity card she could trace us and they dealt with the agent so it was no problem.
We got a room in the area we wanted, spotlessly clean as usual and just as we were unpacking a knock at the door revealed a cleaner with a bottle of sparkling wine and two champagne glasses compliments of the hotel. A nice gesture.
The food is always plentiful and regulary replenished, the chef uses a lot of imagination to create meals with a limited choice of meat.
The Spanish Gala meal was first class with king prawns in a plentiful supply.
The English entertainment team worked extremely hard and RUD Stewart (Rod Stewart world famous lookalike) appearing on our last night was (his last appearance in Majorca this year) was terrific.
Hotel is a little walk to the nightlife and five minutes from beach, Alcudia town and port all nearby.
Thanks to Maria and her team of waitresses, they work ever so hard keeping the tables clear.
All inclusive drinks gave a good choice and as a change from previous visits Fanta, Coca Cola seven up can now be dispensed self service, so no need to queue for them.
Will certainly be back to the Delfin in the future.

Room Tip: Garden view rooms are a little quieter

I'm a great believer in the idea that there is no perfect holiday, there's always some good and some not so good, wherever you go, unless you pay for it. You have to start with the thought that you can't have a 5 star holiday but only pay 3 star rates.
Again, your experience depends on your expectations. We usually use the hotel as a base but dont spend any time at the poolside usually. We're more interested in the area, walking, enjoying the beach etc etc. I can rough it, I dont expect perfection but good food and a smiling staff can smooth things a lot.
The staff were friendly, helpful and smiling, all of them. Well done, you're a credit to the hotel.
The rooms are 'ok'. Far from the best, but far from the worst we've stayed in. Only one socket plus one in the bathroom makes life a tad awkward. Aircon was sufficient. Basic but acceptable furniture, clean rooms...basic but ok.
The hotel itself is ok, clean and simple.
Didnt use the pool area so can't comment fairly. Looked good, we're just not poolside people.
Location is a 3 minute walk to a lovely sandy beach and maybe 10 minutes to Alcudia Port. There's a good range of shops and a pharmacy nearby, obviously the port area is the main shopping area, a nice clean town.
1/2 hour walk takes you to the castle, lovely area, market and shops.
Food at the hotel....this is where they let themselves down. Its ok, acceptable, but thats all if you enjoy decent food. Probably because we were there the last week before the winter c,losure, perhaps the range was resticted, breakfast was good, basic amount of salad and cold meat and cheese, , the usual ingredients for a nearly full english, cereals, fruit...quite acceptable.
Lunchtime we didnt bother with so can't comment, evening meals were a bit dissapointing TBH. I managed, but the wife struggled. Again, perhaps because it was the end of the season, the range was restricted. Overall though, the food was far from the best.
Snack bar...very small range of salad, chips chips and more chips, fast food style bits and bobs, if we had kids, its what they'd want, but i wouldnt encourage my kids to eat so much fast food.
Overall, not very healthy stuff.
Bar was good, quick service and friendly.
Entertainment team were probably the best ive seen for the kids. Of course its cheesy, its not for me as a whole, but the Michael Jackson night was brilliant, they really go for it.
Take a day trip by local bus to Palma, fabulous town centre. About 12 euros each return.
Overall a lovely place, friendly people, clean and tidy with a lovely sandy beach.
When we look back on a holiday, we always ask ourselves, would you go back. The resort, yes, the hotel...no. not because it was terrible, it wasnt...it was ok, but the food was mediocre.
No regrets though, we had a lovely time.

Me and my Partner (in our 20's) booked this holiday last minute as a short getaway for 5 days to go somewhere hot at the end of October.
The hotel was very clean and modern and gave good first impressions. We arrived around 9.15pm and upon checking in we were told the restaurant was closed which was disappointing. We were advised to go across the road to a restaurant which served great food and was fairly cheap.

Our room(top floor, 525 over looking the pool) was what we expected for the money, bedrooms just fit 2 beds pushed together (to make a double) and a third on its own. The bathroom was quite small but suited our needs. The room was dated and needed some TLC but as mentioned, for the money we couldn't complain. The maid service was good, although not very through as we found a few belongings left over from the previous guest.

In addition, although I appreciate this is not the fault of the hotel, there were several dogs barking from local residences which after a few days became extremely annoying as one dog would set others off and this would be throughout the day and night. Also the rooms did not cancel out the sound from fellow guests in the hallways (especially as we were right next to the lift) and had we been staying longer I would have asked to be moved.

The food was very basic, being this late in the season (i think it was their last week) the food seemed very limited, only one side of the buffet serving area was being used but the staff were very attentive and polite and I could not complain about that. The snack bar was in my opinion better than either the lunch or dinner buffet as there was a consistency to the food on offer and the quality and i knew there would always be somewhere here to eat.

The entertainment team were great. Me and my partner did not get involved in any of the days activities but based on the award ceremony in the evenings (for children and adults) it seemed like a lot of fun and everyone was happy.
The nighttime entertainment was also very good, although at times it was cheesy, we had a great laugh and the team did a great job involving everyone. I also think they were great with kids, and for even someone without kids I think its well suited for them.

All in all we had a good time, the local area was great, the weather was good and all the staff were very friendly and welcoming and have no complaints there whatsoever.

The only real downside for me was the food, but I think that is most likely due to the fact that the hotel was winding up for the end of the season and was very short on guests.

Would I go back, maybe if I was looking for a short holiday at the end of the summer for that last bit of sun, and if it was a good deal. I dont think we could have managed for a week or more though.

Room Tip: Beware of dogs in local residences barking non stop if you are situated on the side overlooking the...

Just come back from 6 night there. The all inclusive was really good. Great choices of Food and drinks included. Room was always cleaned everyday with clean towels. Really enjoyed the hotel, staff and alcudia. Was my first Holiday abroad and the loved area and beach. Would go back there.
