“Nice place but unapproachable Manager”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 July 2013

My daughter is currently staying here.
It is a good place for families but sadly when it gets to high season the place struggles.
My daughter and her partner booked this in January for 2 weeks in a premium apartment which is extra. Self catering
On arrival on Sunday the hotel were over booked. They managed to give a studio and said would have to see manager on Monday. Saw manager who couldn't see it was their fault. The company that had taken the booking said the hotel had not made them aware they were over booked so it was down to the hotel. They contacted the hotel. Eventually today Tuesday a premium room became available. Tried to explain to the manager that we had lost 2 days over t this because you can not unpack etc. He said no you have not. Can he not see how unsettling for a young child this is. He offered 4 free breakfasts. It is not about 4 free breakfasts.
So gets in room to unpack and the baby wants to use the bathroom. What do we find is mess and sick around the toilet. Went back to manager and cleaner came. Think we should have stayed in the small studio and asked for our money back we had spent on the upgrade. Now contacted provider to officially complain. This is really a nice place but the manager needs to more helpful and help his clients. This is high season but they should be use to be busy.
Please be assured it is a nice place but this should not happen. The kids love the place shame about the management.

Viva Sunrise is a large hotel and when it is fully occupied (which it is during high season) my guess is that it has between 800 to 1.000 guests.

We had a studio on self-catering basis. The basic stuff was available and the studio was reasonably clean. Compared to the other hotels and restaurants in the neighborhood, the food prices in the hotel are expensive. So we went out to have lunch/diner.

The hotel is super crowded in high season, likewise the pool. Having over 100 people in a not so big pool during midday is rather rule than exception.

What did work was the availability of sunbeds at the pool. They removed towels from sunbeds when there were no beds available anymore.

Service is mediocre at best and facilities are not up-to-date.
A few examples:
There are 2 washing machines for 1.000 guests, which is not overdoing it. But 1 machine was broken for the full 2 weeks that we stayed there. Try to get you laundry done with 1.000 people and 1 washing machine.
Pool towels can be only changed 3 times a week for fresh ones. At one time there were no pool towels at all. The gentleman at the reception couldn’t care less. His comment: it is just a service and our guests have no right to clean towels.
There is only 1 ladies toilet at the pool which is not cleaned during the day. You can imagine how the facility looks at the end of the day.
The fitnessroom is not air-conditioned which makes it uncomfortable to fitness there with 35 degrees outside.

The entertainment was mainly geared towards smaller children or to adults. For teenagers over 12 years of age there is not much to do.

The wifi is free and works fine in your room. Around the pool the service is intermittent.
The safe in your room has a fee.

The hotel is located in a poorly build seventies neighborhood. There are plenty of low cost restaurants and bars around. But if you are looking for something more fancy. don’t come to this place.

The beach is in walking distance. Very nice beach. If you are looking for a nice place to eat, have the buffet option at the Iberostar Ciudad Blanca hotel. Good quality for a friendly price.

So if you have teenagers over 12 years of age, you are looking for a quiet and/or stylish place/area, find something else.

We went to this hotel and, having read most of the comments on this site, we were very excited. On arrival everything we had read was 100% spot on. Other than nit-pick over some rooms needing a lick of paint, I cannot fault this place. Large rooms with separate bedrooms for families with older kids, clean, tidy and fully air-conditioned. Facilities are brilliant. Food and drinks choices are equally good. I must agree with previous reviewers in stating that the staff here are exceptional. From cleaners, waiters and receptionists to the limitless energy of the superb entertainment staff, everyone deserves the biggest "thank-you" for making our family holiday so wonderful. Highly recommended. We'll come back again without a second thought.

If you've booked this hotel, get excited. If you are returning, I know why you are coming back.

This hotel and complex was simply awesome. Hats off to the Viva Group who certainly know how to present a fine hotel with excellent, attentive and motivated staff. I read many reviews about this hotel and I totally concur how clean this place was. The mural by the kids pool looked as if it was painted yesterday! The pool was exceptionally clean and seeing the staff in the evening and morning cleaning up around the pool area, made it look brand new every day.

The kids pool is quality, but special mention must be given to the entertainers, who made the kids feel special, day in, day out even though for them it must be ground hog day. The effort they put it was appreciated, especially Mario who was a class above.

Great mix of nationalities at the hotel and this was reflected in the food offered with the all inclusive, which I highly recommend. Although I could go on and on about the location, the access to the local bars and shops and the beach being just down the road, I unfortunately became ill on holiday. A doctor comes twice a day to the hotel and I was able to see him immediately. This saved the trip for me, without his help or the need to travel to a local doctor would have been quite stressful, especially travelling with 2 young children.

At Viva Sunrise they dot the i's and cross the t's. The espresso's are served in cups pre-heated. The waters at meal times come from chilled glass bottles. They know how to serve. All the time with a smile. Finally, BUFO is the best. My kids loved him, they still sing the songs today. Thank you to all at Viva Sunrise and the Viva Group. Your hard work in delivering a quality facility with quality staff is very much appreciated. We had a fantastic holiday!

Room Tip: The first floor rooms mean you don't need to wait for the lift and pool side gives you great vie...

Just returned after 10 days at the Viva Sunrise, a perfect holiday for us as a family. Our 4 year old loved the kids disco every evening and the swimming pools during the day. The food and drinks on the All Inclusive deal was amazing, loads of choice and a great variety for everyone. I cannot believe some of the reviews on here, the hotel was perfect and I have never seen staff work so hard to make their customers happy considering the heat. You would not get staff work as hard over here in good old Great Britain!!! Loved every minute of it and would return tomorrow if we could!!! Book this hotel is you want a great family holiday!!!

Room Tip: All rooms are great........

Just returned from 2 weeks staying at the viva sunrise and it was fantastic! We are a family of 4 with children age 1 and 5 and they loved it.
The kids show on a evening with Bufo and the kids entertainers was fab.
We went all inclusive and the food was great with plenty of choice. At lunch time you can choose to eat off the buffet or sit in the bistro and have off the menu which was excellent. All inclusive is defo worth the money you can have most drinks including cocktails, beers, wine, etc.
There is always Ice creams, slush, bottled water, fruit, and sandwichs to help yourself to during the day.
Location of the hotel is good 5- 10 min walk to the beach which is 1 of the best weve been to and the hotel is literally round the corner from the main strip of shops bars and restaurants.
The hotel is spotless and rooms are very modern and spacious we had a 1 bedroom apartment which was lovely. The kids loved the kids pool with the pirate ship and slides perfect for the little ones as it was very shallow.
We really enjoyed this hol and are hoping to go back next year.

We recently went here for a week (with a 22 month old) and stayed in a one bedroom self catering apartment which was lovely and clean and pretty spacious. bathroom was lovely, the bedroom was big enough for 2 single beds and a cot with still plenty of room to move around.

The kids pool was brilliant and there was a smaller round pool closer to the main pools as well for children to use. The childrens play areas were also very good, there are 2 separate sets of playground equipment and a bouncy castle.

Location was very good, close to all the restaurants and shops but in a quiet location and there is a supermarket attached to the hotel which is open to 10pm each day. Apartments are cleaned 5 days a week.

The only minor moan is that the curtains in the bedroom aren't lined and the sun shone through in the bedroom until 8.30/9.00 each night so if we had wanted to put the little one to bed early, we couldn't as it was too bright for her to go to sleep before 9pm but other than that, we couldn't fault the place at all. We were self catering so I can't comment on the food.

Room Tip: We were "road" side if you can call it a road, very minimal traffic, and was quite picture...
