“Lovely Holiday”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 September 2013

We booked this via a Thomson package holiday.
We were very pleased with the hotel, the room was clean and well maintained.
We had a ground floor room next to the pool, so both kids could come and go as they pleased and, frankly, they would have been happy to spend the whole week just playing in the pool.
It's too far to walk to the beach from the hotel, however, it is only a short walk to the tram stop which takes you on a circuit of the town (every 20 mins or so) and stops right at the beach.
The beach itself is beautiful, sandy with cabanas to rent and the sea is so clean the fish swim around your feet.
The tram stop is next to a small Spar shop where you can also stock up on water and anything else you want for your self-catering stay at the hotel.
Alternatively, the hotel has an all-day restaurant where food (and drink) is pretty cheap, the waiters and staff are very pleasant and all speak good english.
The only slight downside to the holiday was the town itself, which is very "Britified" with british pubs, fish and chips and sunday roasts everywhere ! We struggled to find good local restaurants serving Spanish food - they are there, so go exploring !
Overall a really nice hotel.

We have recently returned from a 2 week stay at The Mariners, I cannot find fault with anything from start to finish. The check in was straightforward & we received a very warm welcome from the receptionist on duty. We were placed in room 110, a 1bed lower floor apt. Perfect location within the complex as we literally stepped from our balcony & were poolside. The rooms were immaculate & very well maintained. They were spacious & had lots of wardrobe/ cupboard space, perfect for our family of 4. We took with us our 2 & 10 year old children & they were constantly entertained, whether it be by the pool, on the park or with the daily poolside activities that were provided by the fabulous Amanda. The hotel is perfectly situated for everything. You are within walking distance of everything, restaurants, bars, waterpark, beach & the main strip. The food in the complex is of restaurant quality, very well cooked & reasonably priced. We ate there most nights, the BBQ menu is great. Evening entertainment was great every night. Cash bingo, quiz's, live entertainment & not forgetting the mini disco for the kids. Amanda works so hard to make sure everyone is kept happy, she's a star. Special mention also to the bar staff Alain & Alfonso, nothing was ever too much of a problem. Also need to mention our amazing & beautiful singing maid Malen (think thats how its spelt!) she made my day, everyday with her lovely singing!!!! If you're lucky enough to get her as your maid, ask for a rendition of the Titanic or Ghost songs : ) Can definitely see why people return year after year.....we will certainly become one of them! The people who moaned about the rooms being over run with cockroaches....I think you need a visit to Specsavers....we only saw 1 in the harbour & it was dead! Thank you Mariners for making our summer 1 to remember ❤ x

My boyfriend and I spent a week at the Mariners hotel (11th - 18th Aug) and we really didn't know what to expect after reading other reviews. We stayed in room 226 and I have to say we were pleasantly surprised!! It was clean, well equipped and had a lovely view looking out over the pool. The only issue for us was that there was no double bed and no real practical solution as pushing the sofa beds together would have meant blocking the patio doors.
There were lots of children at the resort however this did not bother us as the hotel is aimed at families and we expected it, Amanda did an amazing job at keeping them entertained and we were thoroughly impressed with all the staff at the hotel. The food was tasty and very fairly priced.
We spent a lot of time exploring the island too, we loved the beach which was only a short walk from the hotel however if you have young children/lots of bags/buggys/lilos etc then you may take longer or even better take the ting ting train that runs every 20 mins!! It's a super way to find your way around at €3 each. We also went to two of the markets, a glass bottom boat trip and the pirate show on the Saturday (early show). The pirate show was good and my boyfriend (who is 30) loved it!!!!! However although I did enjoy it I thought it was a little overpriced. We didn't mind but it is aimed at families and those with more than one kid will find themselves with very light pockets after a night there.
All in all it is a lovely place to visit, the hotel was basic but clean and tidy and there is plenty to do for couples as well as families.

We stayed here for 1 week, 9th July. We loved the food, ate there most nights - great value for money. Kids thoroughly enjoyed it. The pool was great, little paddling side for non swimmers and rest of pool about 1.6m. Entertainment was what made this holiday - Amanda works so hard my children loved her and her mini disco ( they still talk about her now). Rooms were basic but very clean, we had everything we needed. The only thing we found wrong with our room was we paid extra for air conditioning but didn't really feel it worked very well in our room, but was lovely in kids room. Location wise, was about a 20-30 minute walk to beach and main strip of shops. It was a two minute walk to Spar shop and 5 min walk to bigger supermarket and fruit & veg shop ( which was very cheap & tasty!)
In the evening we often walked to beach and caught the little train back as our children were a little tired in the warm weather!
We would defiantly go again, it was well worth the money. Best holiday we've had so far!

Room Tip: Near to pool - people get up at ridiculous times to reserve sunbeds!!!

I can here on a girls holiday in June 2013. Although we're 18, we wanted a somewhat quite first holiday away, in which coming here we very much got. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We had to pay a €5 deposit to use the safe then it was an extra €2/3 a day on top of the deposit.
The food is good for the hotel and is also a very cheap.
When we initially booked the holiday with Thomson, we where told that it would be a 5 minute walk to the beach and a 10 minute walk to the Mariner, however this was false as it would take us 20-30 minutes to walking to the beach and 40 minutes to Mariner. We did not mind the walk , however when it was over 30 degrees every day it was rather uncomfortable an we found ourselves having to get taxis back to the hotel, but where around €5 each time.
There are some good restaurants by the hotel and also in the Mariner. This is a couple of nightclubs by the hotel, with Menta being a matter of minutes away. There is also a water park however for the size of it, looked quite pricey to get in.
