“Fantastic Place, fantastic time....FANTASTIC!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 June 2010

We were a bit apprehensive when we arrived and we're told we were stopping in the dreaded 'D Block' but there was absolutely nothing to worry about. Our 'kids den' room was spacious and provided more than enough room for my partner and our 3 young children. The room was clean and maintained brilliantly throughout our stay.

The pool was across a very small and quiet road and was lovely...not too big so we could keep an eye on the kids. The bar staff we're excellent espcially Bryan (don't challenge him at darts)

Eating down at the port is nice although can be slightly more exepnsive than other places. We found a bar called DC's opposite the Astoria, which is about a 5 min walk from Sea Club. Food really nice and very reasonable (ask Cheryl about her babysitting rates) We eat there most days.

All in all a wicked and realxing couple of weeks.

Oh and the kids loved seeing Toby the Turtle at the kids mini disco.

We have just returned from our first family holiday to the Sea Club with our 3 year old. After reading some of the reviews on various web sites, we were a little dubious about staying on D-block - we were soon to find out the vast majority of the rumours were completely unfounded! It was so much better (for us, cant speak for everyone, obviously) than we expected - our 1-bed apt was spacious, clean and in excellent condition. We liked the fact we were a little further away from the main 'show-bar' (pleasant 6min stroll) as our child wasn't disturbed from sleep at silly-o'clock and we could chill a bit, too. Pool was excellent, bar and restaurant area immaculate, staff were first class. Must mention the lifeguard on duty every day from 10am to 5pm - never took his eyes off the pool which was very reassuring. The reps really made an effort without being too over-bearing, which has to be appreciated - from face-painting to the Little Mermaid to mini-discos, hats off to them! The fact that the beach was a good 15min walk didn't bother us as it meant less sand in the apartment, but its definitely worth the effort, it's beautiful! All in all, we are seriously considering returning next year and specifically requesting the room we had on D-block, no bad memories what-so-ever. Don't believe all the bad reviews - eveybody's different but some people are evidently too hard to please!

Just returned from a week at the Sea Club with a 4 year old. D Block was clean and spacious. We had self catering apartments as opposed to the studio apts which did look small, but if you were HB or FB I can see no issue as they are only designed to be slept in.

Our apt was across a small road from the pool and bar. It wasn't exactly the M6 as made out by some reviews on here, but in saying that I wouldn't allow my child to cross alone.

Reception was handy and we were looked after by Linda who was fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble for her and she sorted out an issue of a broken kettle straight away. Air con is free although you do need to leave a 10 euro deposit and the same with the TV. There has been reviews that talk about security. It is no different to anywhere else in that you would be best advised to get a safety deposit box on arrival (20 euros plus a 5 euro deposit for the week). We certainly had no issues and the safe was in our room which isn't always the case.

There is a small but well stocked supermarket attached to reception but this can be pricey. If you are self catering you would be better making the 10 minute walk to the main supermarket (the reps will point you in the right direction).

The swimming pool area was clean with plenty of sunbeds but as a party of 5 we did have to reserve them at around 9am to ensure sitting together. There are five pools on the complex but we found D block was convenient for us and met all our needs without having to walk to the busier pools.

The D block bar and snack area was pricey and the menu was pretty much what you would expect from such a place but it was fine and the food was ok.

My 4 year old attended the Kids Club and it was excellent. She is quite shy but she was made to feel very welcome by the reps and got her free t-shirt and hat on her first day which made her feel part of the group. The location of the club was well placed as it is across the road from the pool so no massive hikes to drop the little ones off.

The welcome meeting was ok, if not a bit long but not as pushy as the usual hour long free sangria affairs. They mentioned the excursions but didn't try to ram them down your throat. Stuart the Thomson/First Choice rep was informative and helpful and recommended some decent eating places off site.

Of an evening there is entertainment in the main show bar. This is about a 5 minute walk from D block but well worth it. The kids mini disco was fun and appealing to all ages (including adults!), and the shows themselves when done by the onsite entertainment teams were very good. Activites take place all day for all ages and the entertainment team is excellent. I had the added bonus of being there during the world cup and all games were shown on the massive screen in the showbar (much to the disappointment of my football hating family!). Drinks can be pricey in the main bar (pint of san miguel was around 3.20 euros) but the entertainment was so good it was worth it.

The beach is about 10 mins walk and worth going to. Sunbeds are 4.50 euros per day. Very safe water but pricey to get food or drink near the beach. The resort is as commercial as any other big holiday destination in that it has it's fair share of english/irish/german bars. Ask the reps for the best places to eat but avoid Portofino's on the main drag.

For those seeking something slightly more refined take a walk up the promenade to the Port of Alcudia. There is a selection of shops and restaurants which is slightly more upmarket (and not a KFC and Burger King in sight!). I would recommend Bodego Des'port at the far end of the port. Slightly more expensive but well worth it. Best tapas I've had in a long time.

The waterpark is ok, but very expensive inside for food and drink. They do make a cursory search of bags on entry but nothing too intrusive (if you get what I mean).

Yes there are mosquitos (as it is a warm country) but no more than normal. We also had a slight ant problem but within an hour of reporting it to reception it was sorted and we saw no more all week. It's about being sensible and you'll be fine!

Overall we had a good week, if you want 5 star luxury pay for it. This is definitly a family place, not really great for couples looking to lounge around the pool with peace and quiet. For those who have read the negative reviews, go with an open mind and you will be pleasantly surprised.

Just back from a lovely trip here and was very impressed with the complex. Yes block D kinda looks like it was the origional sea club but as it had a bar/rest/reception etc it was just like staying in any complex. Lovely pools and entertainment for the kids.
great for familys and good value too.

just back from sea club, arrived at 4 30 in the morning in the rain, the staff could not be more helpful, i had my three kids with me, 7 3 and a one and a half year old, my two daughters love the kids acadamy, they had so much more, the entertainment at night was excellent and when the adult shows were on the kids rep took the kids to the end of the hall and into the playroom until the show was over, it was great, every two hours there was annoucements for football, pony treking and many more, we stayed in the B block which was the best block to stay in, outside our apartment there was a basketball court where my one year soon spent his whole holiday playing ball and behind this there was a huge sandpit for kids to play in, it was a great holiday and i would highly recomd the sea club espicially for families with young kids.

Visited Sea Clubs in June, 2007. Arrived at 9pm. Manager in reception was really nice guy, allocated us Block D which id read online was not great. I immediately asked for another block however he asked me to at least go look at apartment. I was so glad he did. The apartment was fantastic and much better than expected. Good size bedroom with comfortable bed, bathroom with bath, shower and hairdryer, well equipped kitchen area and comfortable lounge/sitting area. The balcony was on the small side but perfectly adequate for two people to sit and watch the sun go down. Only small niggle was the noisy air con on outside wall next to bedroom. Apart from that -brilliant.

All the staff were friendly and cheerful including cleaners Maria and her boss, young electrician dude who cycled round the complex to fix faults etc and Jesus the foreman-who liked fresh orange!! Recepption staff were great as mentioned.

We hired a car and travelled extensively over the 2 week stay. A drive up into the mountains on west coast is exhilerating. Pollensa the old town has interesting streets and busy main square in evening. Palma is a vibrant cosmopolitan city although if you take a car youll need nerves of steel. Well worth it though. The beaches generally are good and adequately equipped . (i personally prefer menorca beaches as they are on a different level for quiet, unspoilt, virgin beaches, coves and great for snorkelling all within easy reach).Just my personal opinion though. Alcudia bay which is within striking distance on foot from sea clubs is impressive. The sand is clean clean clean and the sea is pleasant to cool off.

Overall would recommend the area . I would advise taking mosquito spray or nets for apartmenta- there are loads of canals in alcudia with stagnant water-perfect breeding ground for the little critters.

Definately would go back.

Myself my partner and our 3 year old girl stayed here in Sept 08. We were placed in D Block. Although the room was small it was clean, had a good shower and the beds were comfy. Many people on here have complaned about D block but i really dont know what they are going on about. It has its own reception and shop, is very quiet in the evening and has its own pool across the road.

The pool area was clean and the snack bar was pretty good, we had lunch there most days. The only bad thing i would say about the pool is that the water was freezing although we did stay there in September. July/August the water may of been warmer.

The main complex was about a 5 minute walk away. What i noticed though was sometimes when walking through the other blocks, the drains were smelling abit and you could hear the noise from the main building. D block had none of this.

The main Seaclub restaurant was OK but nothing exciting. Drinks at the bar were averagely priced. The evening entertainment was very good what we saw

The main street in Alcudia was about a 5-10 minute stroll away. Just a nice distance. We also ate in the big spanish restaurant across the road from Seaclub which was good on both occasions. The Paella we had one night was the best ive ever tasted .

All in all we had a nice week, im sure there is probably better complexs around, but the price we paid (£500 for a week inc flights and transfers) i doubt for the price we could of had better
