“Great hotel with few things to improve”

Location and surrounding.

The Vanity Golf Hotel is located in Port Alcudia about 50 min from the Palma Airport. The hotel is very close to the marina and the center of the town (5 min walk) while the noise level is unproblematic. The beach – separated from the hotel only by a small walking / jogging path - is of very good quality, with white sand, approximately 50 meter wide and with a fabulous view over the bay of Alcudia. During dinner, you can often watch kite surfers practicing close to the shore. At the street side you find various shops, restaurants and car rental companies.

Hotel
The Vanity Golf Hotel is a four star hotel and positions itself as an “adult hotel” i.e. not for families with small children. The hotel is in excellent condition: marble floors, a premium restaurant, rooms with a design interior and luxury bathrooms, modern furniture and equipment including a large screen TV in every room. The outdoor area is of average size featuring a pool, free deck chairs and even a putting green for golfers. The German travel company TUI gave the hotel the award “best hotel in Mallorca” and “3rd best hotel in the world” in 2009.

Positive:
Excellent location for sport enthusiasts (MTB, sailing, jogging, surfing) second only to Pollencia
Shops and marina nearby for evening walks
World class dinner and breakfast buffet
Stylish and very clean rooms
Free first fill of the mini bar (water, coke) and free fruits.
Friendly and professional staff
Bike rentals can be arranged at the reception desk. Bikes are delivered to the hotel within 60 minutes
Free WiLan
Special early breakfast for the morning of departure (even at 05:00)

Negative:
Small and unpleasant indoor gym. Seems to be just “a tick in the box” for the hotel
Same refers to indoor jakuzzi
WiLan doesn't work in the room

Overall:
I highly recommend the Vanity Golf Hotel in Port Alcuida. It has everything and more you can expect from a modern 4 star hotel. Besides the good food and the dedicated staff, it is perfectly located and equipped for a week of active leisure and sport in Mallorca.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for 5 nights in September 2009. In my opinion, this is the best hotel in Alcudia. It is located right on the beach and a quick walk to the port/marina, restaurants, and shops.

Rooms: the rooms are very large, comfortable, clean. We stayed in Room 401 - which had a great view of the sea and beach. If the sea view is important to you - definitely try and book a room on the 4th floor and I would recommend rooms 401, 403, and 405. Most of the rooms have a good view though. We checked out the Royal Suites and they are quite nice - you basically get a premium room, with then an extra area on the roof with 2 private sun loungers. If you want privacy and guaranteed sun loungers, then book that.
Hotel Location: Alcudia has a nice beach and you are right on the beach, unlike some of the other hotels we checked out (especially in Puerto Pollenca, where there is a road between the hotel and beach).
Restaurant: the breakfast buffet was very good and quite large - lots of food and very filling. We didn't eat dinner at the hotel.
Staff: the staff are fantastic - very friendly and so attentive.

We would definitely stay here again. However, when we went in September, it seemed we were the youngest people at the hotel (under 40). One word of caution - sun loungers by the pool - apparently, if you don't reserve your spot by 9am, then all of the good spots are taken. We would watch as guests would reserve loungers at 8am. It was a little frustrating since people would reserve the best sun spots and then put up their umbrellas during the day to block the sun or not even sit in their loungers half the day and were gone! If hanging out by the pool is important to you, then just be advised to get up early and scope out the best spot. The pool area, despite being crowded, was totally quiet. It was nice and relaxing, able to read and sit in the sun. The island of Mallorca is huge and we had fun renting a scooter and exporing the Formentor penninsula and other parts of the island. We also rented a hobbie cat for a few hours. Lots to do and see!

We chose the Vanity Golf because it's an adults only hotel. I'm a primary teacher and it's nice to be away from children for a while! We read all the reviews and the hotel certainly lives up to them.

The receptionist, Ilona, was incredibly helpful. She gave us a glass of cava and let us view various rooms to see which we liked best. We had booked a premium suite with a sea view and there was a good choice. I then laughingly asked about upgrades to the Royal Suite and she came back with such an amazing offer that we couldn't refuse!

The rooms are spotless, the beds enormous and comfortable. There's a fridge and complimentary drinks (including champagne) when you arrive. There's a balcony of course, but we didn't use it...we spent the non-pool/beach side time on our rooftop terrace, with our own Balinese bed, sunbeds, chairs and personal jacuzzi! There's just a sheet of glass between you and the fabulous views!

Breakfast was wonderfully peaceful. The selection of food was excellent and eggs/pancakes were cooked as you watched. We enjoyed dawdling over our coffee, watching the gentle waves and planning our day.

There was no sunbed hassle...towels are put out and people generally did not reserve the very comfortable beds, but to be fair there were lots of them and when we went there, it was pretty much where we liked. There wasn't a scramble for the 4-posters or Balinese beds either...in fact it was all really civilised, quiet and relaxing. It's just a short stroll to the amazingly calm and warm sea and well-placed showers washed off the salt. The pool was lovely and never ever crowded.

In the evening, candles are lit in reception and around the pool (no children...no H&S problem). We thought bar prices were reasonable, too, although we toddled to the nearby supermarket to buy drinks to stock our fridge.

Alcudia is a lovely resort with a beautiful Marina (and even more beautiful boats!). We found lots of great restaurants, although we did feel the places on the beach were a bit hurried. It's worth a stroll to the Old Town in the evening too.

We shall most certainly be returning to Alcudia and the Vanity Golf and we'd thoroughly recommend it as a really grown-up hotel.

Alcudia is the no 1 hotspot for families. The no of children around is vast. We went to celebrate my brother's 40th and being a childless couple we didn't want to stay in a hotel that was too child oriented, which seemed impossible at first.

But this hotel was fantastic. To read by the poolside, without children splashing around - it was great. We loved it and would definitely go back. Service, food, everything has luxury written all over it. You even get cava for breakfast!!!

I spent unforgetable time with my wife in this hotel two weeks ago. Hotel location is perfect, right next to beach, close enough for short walk to Alcudia port but far enough not to hear all the noise. The room was really nice, clean and comfortable with beautiful sea view. Stuff was cheerful and helpful. The food was delicious, at first we ordered only breakfast, but after first dinner we decided to change to half-board. I recommend mostly grilled meals, fruits and wines. We ordered a car in Palma de Mallorca to get there, planning also to do some short trips nearby. Although we had so much fun spending our time at the beach, in swimming pool or just laying on the sunbeds with cold drink in ours hands that we didn't even bother to go anywhere.

My wife and I spent a week at the Golf in June, in a Royal Suite (highly recommended). All the positives about the location, beach, pool etc. have been covered, and we agree it's a top spot. So here's our spin on it;
Getting there is easy; a taxi from the airport takes about 45 minutes and costs about €80 each way.
The big beds are very comfortable, and the fridge is there for your own drinks, which are cheap and plentiful from the nearby shops. Sure, the TV channels are mainly German and Spanish, but there's BBC and Sky News (if you really want it) and in our suite the adult channel was free.
The pool boy is a bit mean with the towels, but we soon outfoxed him!
We took the half-board option, which was only around €8 a day each on top of B&B, and unbelievable value. The food is all-buffet but really good quality, and if you have a diet on the go, you'll be fine. One of us was on low GI (no carbs) and the quality of the meats and fish were generally excellent. Restaurant service was friendly and the wine-list very reasonable. Breakfast is also good, though I was surprised at the lack of decent sausages (especially given the majority German clientele!). Sadly, the coffee is lousy, but that's a Spanish thing I have found, so don't blame the hotel. But, most of all the absence of kids is a huge bonus!!!
We found the pool deck a bit too "orderly" for us, and too hot because of no breeze, so we used loungers on the beach (€9 a day for 2), and just walked over to the pool to cool off every few minutes. Much more fun at the beach anyway. They have big straw parasols.
Staff throughout the hotel were outstanding, from reception to bar to restaurant. But the real deal was our Royal Suite roof terrace, which made it for us. After a day in the sun (very hot in June) we rarely feel like going far in the evening. So having the jacuzzi, and plenty of chilled Cava from the shop opposite, makes for a romantic and sexy evening, every night! To be honest, in an ordinary room, this is probably just a better-than-average beach hotel, but in a Royal Suite, it's simply amazing.
Tips; Take some bug spray, they bite at night. Keep the terrace door closed, or the aircon switches off. Don't pack jackets or formal clothes; it's cool casual in the restaurant (well it was for us!). There's no wifi and the 3G data speed is lamentable. Daily papers are in the shop opposite. The hotel's beach bar makes good drinks but their food's average, and you'll encounter families with kids at lunchtime. Watch out for the Margaritas in the main bar; they can be lethal!
We had a special holiday, and we'll definitely be booking a Royal Suite again, because you definitely get what you pay for. BTW if anyone has recommendations for other beach hotels with private hot tubs, please mail me.
