“Excellent Hotel”

Could not fault this hotel, stayed in a junior suite and was a really good size with a massive balcony which also included 2 very comfortable sunbeds. Stayed bed and breakfast and brilliant selection for breakfast. Staff very helpful and all areas spotless. Would not hesitate to book again. Great location 5 mins walk to beach and lots of good restaurants.

Sister hotel to the Estrella de Mar. Dont get confused. 2 completely different hotels offering a different environment. The Coral is the more reserved and quieter. Im so glad I picked this hotel as apposed to the Estrella it suited what I was wanting perfectly. Exceptionally clean, low rise apartments. One side faces the road and its sister hotel. The other faces the pool area and gardens (make sure you ask for a pool view). Staff were very pleasant and helpful, all smiles!. The food was interesting!. Very well presented buffet style. Im a fussy eater so didnt care for alot on offer but there was definately something for everyone to enjoy. Drinks prices expensive. We bought our own from the nearby supermarket and saved a fortune. There is alot of positive points to say about this hotel, I just loved it and although our junior suite actually looked quite basic for a 4* it had everything we required ie cup of tea making for mum! It sure makes a refreshing change to stay somewhere so clean. Our pool and garden view was just perfect from the balcony (Room B102) for those interested. And having a huge palmtree so close meant we had some shade. Only a couple of negative points which I have to include as they niggled me; broken sunbeds which even though staff were aware of, were never removed and also we were the only English in the whole hotel! which meant no English TV or anybody else to chat with by the pool. On reflection I can see that was better and made us feel special!. Germans seemed to be the majority here. Mmmmm..... Best keep that to myself. To conclude; The Estrella is lively and caters for young children with mini shows and discos. The pool is huge and lagoon style. The Coral is more reserved and relaxing. Both hotels can be used by people staying at either hotel which is great. As we drove from Palma airport on a transfer coach, after seeing other people get dropped off at their hotels along the way, I have to say I was relieved as we pulled up and my eldest said 'this is our stop mum'.

WOW! what a lovely hotel, we arrived at the door in to a lovely large reception area! we checked in and the staff were so helpful and spoke very good english! We got our room in the c block! walking down the corridor there is lots of seats and 2 pool tables, the lifts are very modern also. We stayed on the 2nd floor and arriving in the room! WOW what a shock we had we thought it was just going to be an average bedroom bathroom, we had 3 rooms! We had a lovely bathroom, with a huge mirror, bath and shower, beade and toilet (with a phone next to it and a hairdryer! LOL) In the bedroom there was plently of wardrobes and 2 single beds together making a large bed. The living room was also good having an average flat screen TV (mainly german channels though), the kitchen was great but could do with a kettle. We had a huge balcony with a lovely marble table and four chairs.Any time of the day you could go down to the pool and get a chair. At one point i was sat with 27 chairs and only me sat on one! The pools were very clean and all in all the hotel was always spotless! The breakfasts were fantastic with loads of choice ranging from, cereals, fresh fruits, full english, pancakes, very large selection of breads, cheese and ham there was never a day i didnt like something! (the breakfast was over the road at the sister hotel esterella) All in all the hotel was fantastic and we enjoyed alot of the evening shows at the sister hotel too!! The hotel is also in walking distance of the port, town and the old town which we did!! The market at the old town is fab (got lots of bargains) its on tuesday and sundays!!

We booked our honeymoon at the HM President Hotel in Alcudia but were changed to the Coral de Mar a couple of hours before we left for the airport.

We were told that we had been changed to the Estrella de Mar but on arrival found that we were booked into the sister hotel Coral de Mar over the road. The hotel is situated in Port de Alcudia and is close to all amenities. Less than 5 mins walk to the beach and shops. Both hotels have pool areas, Coral de Mar being very quiet with the odd couple of people. Most use the Estrella de Mar because all the facilites are over there. Predominately German and Scandinavian guests and geared up for them. All childrens
entertainment is in either German or Scandinavian. IN THE WHOLE OF THE TWO HOTELS THERE WERE ONLY OURSELVES AND ANOTHER ENGLISH COUPLE THERE.

Rooms - They are apartments that have their own self contained kitchen etc. They are spacious and very clean. We had a room overlooking the pool which in hindsite wasn't a good thing as I was eaten alive by mosquitos. Beds are AWFUL. We were on our honeymoon and were in twin beds pushed together. Eveytime you moved they came apart and were so noisy. The only way to describe them is they were like military camp beds and for a 4* hotel this was pretty poor. Pillows were rock hard so we used cushions but I still have pain in my neck and shoulders. Rooms are cleaned daily but sheets aren't changed daily.

Food/Drink - Coral de Mar doesn't have any facilities for food and drink and you have to go over to the sister hotel Estrella de Mar to eat and drink. We were all inclusive and found this a bit of a pain, especially in the evening when you just wanted to relax in your own surroundings. We ended up buying some drink and keeping it in our fridge in the room. Breakfast was good, usual fruit, cereal, pancakes, pastries, eggs, sausages, bacon etc. You could also have a glass of champagne is you wanted one! Lunch was awful, burgers, pizza, hotdogs, toasties and salad. The same everyday. The problem was these were cooked and left to go cold then more were cooked and hot ones were then put on top of the cold ones and left. I consider this to be a health hazzard and should be addressed. My husband always waited for the chef to come back and insisted on him cooking him fresh. Dinner was fine, you could always find something to eat.

Service - the reception staff at the Coral de Mar were lovely, especially Anita who knew I was upset and disappointed at not being able to go to our original hotel and wasn't sure if I wanted to stay at Coral de Mar because of the lack of facilities. Waiting on staff at Estrella were lovely and Jose on the Bar was a star.

Overall experience - Ok but wouldn't use the hotel again.

Things that need to be addressed - Lunchtime buffet, keeping food hot and more variety when guests paying all inclusive prices.
Refuse to put air-conditioning on until temp outside is 27 degrees even though it is 25 degrees in your bedroom!!!
If they aren't prepared to open a bar in Coral de Mar fridges in guests rooms should be filled with soft drinks, water, beer, wine etc when on all inclusive basis so that they can relax in their own surroundings.
Beds and pillows need to be updated and inline with a 4* rating, not 1 good nights sleep was had!!!
No english channels on TV

It is a shame really because the Coral de Mar has a beautifuly decorated hotel reception area and sitting area which is deserted due to the lack of facilities.

If your main criteria is price then this might be the hotel for you. The location is good, but the interior definitely needs some updating (especially the army cot beds!). In April when we stayed, lots of families (with kids running around everywhere during dinner) - the meals are included and while okay (you will always find something that you can eat), the whole experience lacks ambiance (bright lighting, "trough style buffet". I guess you can't expect more for the price and the cycling in the area is wonderful. The gym/spa is pretty good and included in the price. This hotel could be really good with a few changes.

Estrella de Mare is a good choice for a family whith children. We stayed at this hotel for a week and had a really good time.
The pool area was gorgeous whith flowers and palmtrees.
If you enjoy the beach the location is very good and its easy to find resturants and shops in the area.
We would happily go back!!

We wanted a hotel that was quiet since we had a 6 months baby, but the oldest child should also have fun so we choosed to stay at Coral de Mar so the oldest (8year) could attend BAMSE (Star Tour Child club) and the youngest could sleep by the pool. It worked out very well! The pool area was silence and mostly adults as guests, the child families stayed at the sister hotel where we aslo eat breakfast. The sister hotel had entertainment and a resturant. It served Glutenfree/nonwheat bread which was a good surpise for us. :) Good service by the staff! :) We would have returned but now it is no longer part of Blue Village (Star Tours children hotel) so we can't attend the children club nomore. :(
It was a very nice appartment, well equiped and with AC. I can strongle recommend it. The hotel is located near almost everything! We could walk (with children) to the beach, to old Alcudia, to the harbour and lots of resturants!
