“Ancient Roman town outside of Alcudia”
Reviewed 5 January 2014

This attraction is the ancient Roman settlement of Pollentia which 12 is kilometres away from Pollensa town. More detail on this attraction can be found on the following links and well worth a visit to marvel at the various ruined buildings. There are some steps but not quite as impressive as those to the Calvari

“Nice day out”
Reviewed 26 October 2013

We got the local bus for a short visit. It was lovely to visit the old town and soak up the atmosphere. We were sorry we did not have more time and its on our list to spend more time there next time.

“Er, Pollentia. Not Pollenca.”
Reviewed 4 October 2013

This is Pollentia the Roman site just outside the old town of Alcudia. Not Pollenca the town, which is some miles away. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pollença If you're still not sure.
If you look for a beach and 360 steps you are going to be disappointed.
What you will find is a large Roman site. The forum and some houses have been excavated and there is a lovely little Roman theatre that was later used for burials. Further excavations are on-going - I'm pretty sure I saw a dolmen behind the fence. Entrance to all this costs 3 euros which includes entrance to the small but perfectly formed museum nearby. The entrance and ticket office is about 50 metres from the bus and taxi point. They don't take credit cards or 50 euro notes so have some small change ready. A small selection of reasonably priced souvenirs is available eg cotton shopping bags for 3 euros. The theatre is quite a trek (almost back into Puerto) so if it's hot take water and hats. There's some welcome shade when you get there.
