Aparthotel THB Sa Coma Platja
Ranked #11 of 29 Hotels in Sa Coma
Reviewed 24 July 2013

As a family of four with 2 children aged 12 & 8 we have just returned from a weeks self-catering at the Sa Coma Platja and I really have no complaints. We arrived at midnight and were directed to our room on the 2nd floor. The apartment itself was lovely, one bedroom with a large lounge area big enough to accommodate twin beds for our children and still have room to move about. The kitchen area was small but was adequate for our needs, we did ask for a kettle and 2 extra pillows which were delivered to our room within 30 mins. The beds in the bedroom were memory foam mattresses and were the most comfortable beds abroad we've ever slept in. We had maid service every day, with fresh towels and clean bedding, it really was spotless. All rooms have views over looking the pool and beach - there are no rooms with "back views" over streets or wasteland so as far as location is concerned its great. The balconies are large and safe.

I cannot comment on the food as we did not eat in the hotel at all, as we were self-catering we ate out every night. There was a good choice of restaurants to suit all budgets. The Chinese restaurant opposite did a 5 course meal per person for 4.75 euros generally our evening meal was between 50 - 80 euros for family of 4 with starters, main course and drinks.

The resort itself was lovely, the beach was clean and the sea was gently shelving making it very safe for children. There is a charge on the beach for the use of sun beds and umbrellas so I would recommend buying yourself an umbrella at the start of the holiday and saving you the daily cost which I think was about 15 euro per day.

Some of the negative comments do relate to the hotel food, but with that aside I would not hesitate to recommend the hotel for its cleanliness, location and amazing views.

Room Tip: Would ask for a higher floor if possible as the views are wonderful

Generally a ok hotel with perfect location. But there was something that could be improved.
- poor service. Did not help us to get transportation to the airport.
- bad evening entertainment. Very bad actually.
- super slow wifi. Not usable from the hotel room.
- the staff was very bad in English
- barely ok breakfast. (Did not eat in the evening)

A very average hotel. It is a 4 star hotel. I do not agreed to that. I would say 3 star max

Stayed at this hotel for 7 nights, rooms very good kept clean and serviced well. Pool area GRAB a sunbed before they all go ? Hotel did send out letter but no one took much notice. Arrived late at night but informed Bar closed in less than 20mins, sandwiches left in room (good). Food in restraunant very very poor, ate out most of the time. ( one couple changed from AI to room only). This is supposed to be 4star - no way 2star+ at best, pool entertainment ok at night poor, Not good facilaties when leaving later in day, not worth the cost out lay. should have stayed home. Not good for young children. Saving grace their was a local fiesta on. reception area and meal area.

Room Tip: go high, but better hotel across road

Yes we booked despite the reviews on here about the noise from the Britannia and had a great holiday. Yes some nights it wasn't particularly easy to get to sleep but did it ruin our holiday - no.
We went self catering and there were two adults and two children in our party. The apartment was an ok size for all we were in it, it suited our needs. The block is right on the promenade and even from our first floor apartment we had a lovely view. The beach was busy so we spent most days at the pool. Be warned its a rush to get towels on the sunbeds - a bugbear of mine - if people just put there towel on when they wanted to use the bed rather than 6 or 8 hours beforehand there would be plenty for everyone. Much of the pool is deep which our kids loved but does mean that parents/guardian need to keep an eye on things. For self catering the apartment wasn't very well equipped. Whilst we didn't want to cook a 3 course meal every night it would have been nice to be able to heat a tin of beans or even have enough plates for us to have a takeaway in the apartment.
We found all the amenities we needed within a couple of minutes walk of the apartment.
The kids holiday revolved around the mini disco at 8pm every night. Fabio was great with the kids and as a reviewer as previously said was like the pied piper,
Overall the kids want to go back and we feel that for what we paid it was well worth the money.

Room Tip: We had a good view from our first floor apartment.

This recent visit to the Sa Coma Platja was a bit of a let down. although hotel was spotless .The location is the star attraction. The staff were all lovely and helpful but we could not understand the lack of amenities. Anyone on the all inclusive deal must have been fed up as the food was distinctly average, the restaurant was far too small for the number of guests. The lounge bar seemed to have nothing much to offer. We didn't see anyone using it, probably because A.I. guests had to pay supplements for drinks.. plus the evening entertainment was lamentable
We were self catering and when we went for meals in the resort, we were shocked at the number of people with A.I.wristbands having meals, that's says it all regards the standard of food being offered not only in our hotel but in others. A VERY POOR SHOW.
The actual resort of Sa Coma is MUCH smaller than we expected, with only a few cafes/restaurants. It was teeming with young families with babies in buggies or old age pensioners who obviously enjoy a quiet walk along the seafront before bed.
The nearest sign of any lively activity is to be found along in the Resort of Cala Millor, which is where we should have booked to stay..
All in all, I wouldn't really recommend anyone from teenagers, as there's nowhere for them, to couples who are a bit older but still know how to enjoy a sunshine break, to bother coming here. Sorry to be so negative, but we were actually bored, and glad to go home, which has NEVER happened on any holiday in 20 odd years.

Room Tip: 2nd or 3rd floor

Just back from a great week's holiday. The hotel is in an excellent location, views from our balcony were absolutely beautiful, blue waters picture scene. We travelled as a family 2 kids 2 adults selfcatering with Jet2. Jet2 Provided great service, flight landed 20 mins ahead of schedule and were in our hotel with in an Hour and 30 mins. When we got to the hotel the receptionist check us in 10 mins and up we were on 4th floor room 415. Oh my god the views from our apartment were heaven. Although the apartment was very basic clean, and room clean 5 days a week. We went selfcatering cause we wanted to be out and about. Kitchennett with 2 electric rings a small fridge freezer, and had to ask for a kettle and a microwave from the reception and we got in within 30 mins for free but for the toaster had to pay 12 euros a week and safe 3 euros a day plus 10 euros deposit. Hotel is in a central location of sa coma, a lot of shops and places to eat we had fab English breakfast at a small place called Atlantic round the corner 4.80 euro for a big eng brekkie plate and a drink. Also had a lovely chicken curry at a Chinese restaurant Shanghai across from the hotel. There is a pub across from the hotel which is aloud until 12pm and then it quietens didn't really bother as we didn't sleep until after 12 every night. Near by town cala millor is a lovely place to visit lot's of shops and costs 5 euros in a taxi one way. Most morning we had breakfast in our apartment and done our grocery shopping at a Spanish store called eroski, I would say equiv to asda, don't buy any goods from near by spar shops as they are very expensive but the Spanish store is only 8 mins walk from the hotel, ask the reception for direction straight forward, and a wee tip take your wee luggage trolly to load your food in as they charge you for your bags plus easy to carry heavy good like big bottles of water etc. Lot's of fresh bread, fruit, veg and meat available at the store. The wifi is free in the hotel apartments and around the swimming pool which was good as it kept kids busy with their ipads when bored...over all excellent for what we paid, I was in 2 minds before I booked this hotel, I went for the beach location and I am glad I did, loved the sea views and having a cuppa on the balcony at 6am.. god want to go back soon... happy holidays.

Room Tip: choose upper floors as there are 7 floors to get the best sea view...
