“Cheap and cheerful”
Reviewed 18 July 2014

just back from 5 days apts europa and mixed feelings of our holiday initially pulling up to the apartments you will see the apts europa sign worn away and peeling off then being greeted at reception is a small cabin sized outhouse which was worrying, however our holiday was very good when you look past the cosmetics.

We traveled with 2 adults 2 children and a baby 4 nights looking for a cheap getaway and got apts europa for £200 peak season so didn't expect anything fancy however people we spoke to paid 3x this and personally I would have expected more. I have rated this hotel as very good and by very good I mean this hotel was very good for the price i paid and for what I expected.

Apts run as pay as you go system these are things that will cost you extra:
Air conditioning if you don't have an apartment with air con you can hire a fan £25 euro per week for air con.
Kettles and toasters need to be hired unsure of price.
Wifi is also available to hire 20 euro per week
I would assume you could also hire ironing board and iron as these are not in the apts.

These things can be costly so if these are things you would hire your perhaps better looking at paying a bit more for a nicer hotel that these are included in the price rather than paying when you get there.

Good Points:
5 minute walk to shops and beach
staff are happy to help and friendly
Apt was a good standard
Hotel was clean
Pool area was lovely (smallest end 6 inches childs pool deepest end 7 foot big pool)
Fridge has small freezer
Good access for wheelchairs, buggies
lifegaurd around pool till 5pm
hotel has floats children can use
all apts have lovely balconies which overlook pool area
all ground floor apts open up directly to the pool area
microwave in kitchen
you can take food and drinks to pool area long as you put things in bin and cups are plastic
small bar beside pool decent prices, 1 euro for half pint mahou 180 for pint only serves pizza as snack for 4 euro or some crisps.
play park for older kids onsite
tennis court also onsite and free to use

Bad Points:
Kitchen doesn't have basic utensils such as tin opener, sharp knives etc
Not all apts have air conditioning which needs to be paid for.
Height on balconies could be dangerous for smaller climbing sized children

Holiday tips:

This is not exclusive to hotel or reflect badly but ants are rife throughout Majorca and ground floor apts can experience problems with these, water in Majorca is also very hard and not the most sanitary so I would def recommend buying bottled water 5 litres from eroski is 1 euro. If you like to stick to what you know food wise JJS bar is highly recommended. Take a tin opener with you as they are hard to find in the shops also pack your mug as the cups in apts are teeny weeny things. Cigs are currently 40 euros a cartoon tabacs shop is 3 min walk. Transfers take roughly just over an hour from the airport. Majorca is a holiday hotspot for Germans, German run bars, hotels and restaurants we heard a few British people make comments on how things are aimed at German tourists and they felt out of place and unwelcome however this didn't bother us.

Any questions feel free to give me a message and ill try answer them for you guys. Overall this was a good cheap and cheerful holiday however I wish the owner of this hotel would put some money into it a nice water feature at the front, update sign, a nice new reception, they have taken the time to grow some grass so do something nice with it. Manager also deserves a raise as he works hard from morning to night, if you prefer a certain apt drop him an email and he is more than happy to help, if you need help with something or anything isn't up to standard just say to the guy and he trys to sorts things out straight away.

Room Tip: All ground floor apts walk out onto the pool all rooms overlook the pool.

My sister and I got a really cheap deal for these apts. so consequently were not expecting much, however we were pleasantly surprised. The apts. are quite tired looking but were spotlessly clean, we had read that there were problems with ants, but the only ones we saw were around the pool and there were only 2 ants. The pool itself was really clean and we were right above it on the first floor. The staff were lovely and very helpful. There is no kettle but there is a fridge and microwavw and also a hairdryer in bathroom. The shower was really good and there was always plenty of hot water. beds really comfortable and sheets changed weekly, towels twice a week. If you go out the hotel by the pool it is about 4 mins walk to the lovely beach. The spa shops are reasonable and we were getting some lovely wine for 2euros 30. If you want a really great paella go to Onkle Willy's at S'illet (about 10-15 min walk along the seafront). There is even a TV (albeit very small) which gets BBC1 and ITV. Handy for keeping up with the news. All in all we had a great holiday and would definitely go back to these apts.

Just come back from a fantastic week in sa coma & stayed at Europa apartments - really couldn't find to many faults with this place - it's clean, plenty of room & by far the best fresh pool with sunshine on pool throughout the day..only downfall was the bathtub paint on it but I'm not complaining for the price we paid.. Would defo go back to this place - it's a great location for shops & 200yards from the beach & mega cheap at the minibar area ..& Btw ask for location of the hypermarket rather than local spar shops as soooo much cheaper!
Big thumbs up from us :-)
It's no 5 stars but a defo 3 stars if u want peace & quiet - suitable for couples wishing to relax by the pool - NOT suitable for groups as pool is pretty small area..

I travelled with my boyfriend in May to Sa Coma and we were a bit worried after reading previous reviews. I did write a review right after we came back home but for some odd reason it isn't here. We were worried about the dirtyness and rats, however, rats were the least of our concerns.

On our second day, we were laying by the pool and saw the cleaning lady was going around the apartments next to ours so we want back up locked our bags to, what we assumed, try to be safe and headed to the beach. After 2 hours at the beach we come back to find that our luggage with our passports and valuables was gone. And it wasn't just a small bag but a bright pink 23kg bag. So we ran to the reception freaked out and all they said is that their staff would never do that. They asked if the cleaning lady had seen anything but she said no. The lock was not forced so itwas oobviously someone with access to the apartments who broke in. And they have had to know for sure that we were gone otherwise I doubt a clever robber would go inside a room without being sure whether someone was inside or not.

We go around the neighbourhood asking if anyone had seen anything and when we told them what had happened NO ONE was shocked it happened in apartments europa. Everyone told us the same story: bad reputation, all the neighbours have complains about the hotel since during the winter when there aren't many tourists some rather shady people actually LIVE there. Meaning people could have keys to those apartments. The worst thing is that we go to the POLICE and THEY tell us the exact same thing. That Sa Coma is otherwise very safe but that hotel and all the other Bei Juan hotels by a german owner have a bad reputation. By then we couldmake the conclusion that we had made the worst possible choice concerning where to stay. We tried to save money but at the end Iit cost us much more as we changed hotels obviobviously. And all the people at the reception said was that we probably left the door open ........

So not choosing this hotel because of tidiness (it was really dirty) shouldn't be the main reason but because of the safety of your belongings. I ADVICE EVERYONE NOT TO GO THERE

There are 40 Apartments in this 2* complex, ALL with balconies. If anyone offers you an 'upgrade to an apartment with a balcony' (which i got caught with) you don't need it. The apartments are centrally located, handy for everything including the beach. appliances include a microwave, fridge and cooking hob, no kettles though, you have to hire them at 12 euros a week! safe is 15 euros a week!
there is a small bar attached to the reception block which is open to the early hours and the drinks are very reasonably priced (cheapest in the immediate area). lots of local bars and restaurants to choose from. i was told the complex is about 25-30 years old. it is in dire need of a facelift and complete refit, but the apartments are clean and if you need clean towels just ask at reception and you'll get replacements. there were three staff and two cleaners 'running' the place, including a night porter/barman. Also, if you need insect repellent/killer they have plenty in stock, and because there are sometimes a lot of small ants trooping through the place, you get it on demand, free. there are two swimming pools, one for children, which doesn't have steps and can be a bit awkwardm and the main pool only has steps in the deep end which doesn't really help a poor swimmer. I have photos, which i'll upload later

Room Tip: the rooms in the 'annex' block get the sun on the balconies all day

I just got back from a week long stay at the europa with my wife. I will say that the apartments are a little old and tired looking and need a spruce up.

That isn't to say we didn't have problems - The beds are certainly a bit ropey (we spent the week with a broken slat that they couldn't repair) our room also didn't have the right number of glasses and had a patio window that was broken in two.

That being said we popped to reception and saw the manager/lifeguard /bar maid. Within half an hour we had 5 clean glasses in our room and they had jerry rigged a fix for the bed (It didn't work - but they tried) she also arranged for a glazier to visit on the Monday and we was back on the Wednesday to fit the new window - can't ask for fairer than that - if you have problems see the dark haired lifeguard, she'll sort you out.

We were on the top floor of block c and did get invaded by ants a few times - but give them a good blast of spray they leave in the rooms and they soon don't want to be around.

All the rooms have this that get bbc1,bbc2 and itv.

Decent sized bathroom.

We had our towels changed twice and the room cleaned once.

There are safes in each room bit it costs 15euro to rent and 5euro deposit for the key :-(

There is site wide wifi, but that is password protected and costs 5euro a day.

The apartments have a nice sized pool - a little over 2metres in the deep end and a kiddy pool for little ones. The pool is illuminated at night with colour changing lights and is rather pretty. The only thing that let's it down are the steps - as they seem to be ripping free of the concrete.

On the plus side there are plenty of sun beds.

As for access to town and the beach it's a 5min walk if you find the right direction (head out the back of the hotel is my advice)

In my opinion the big thing that let's these apartments down is Sa Coma itself.

It is a little bit to tacky. Plenty of kiss me quick hats and English restaurants :-( (good for people with small children - not necessarily for young professionals)
There are 3 Chinese restaurants within spitting distance of each other - who goes to mallorca for a Chinese?

There are a couple of decent restaurants (el sol - for seafood, try the lobster & Bia - big open grill)

The beach is nice - pity people leave fag ends all over the sand.

Overall the hotel and resort are great if you don't go with super high expectations - that being said expect to have a really good time.

just returned from a weeks stay at these apartments, and as long as you`re not expecting 5* quality for 2* money u will be ok,we were lucky and got a upper floor room but if u do get ground floor then from talking to others there they did have ant probs, its not crowded so no prob with beds and pool, and only 5 min walk to a beaut of a beach anyway, close enough to all bars,i`d recommend jj`s realy nice meals,2 really lively bars if you want em,and only 5-6 euros taxi to cala millor,we loved sa coma very relaxed plenty of places to eat and drink would defo go here again, but would prob look for a bit better base, europa could do with a bit of a spruce up,but if your just showering and sleeping there then they are ok.

Room Tip: try to avoid ground floor room
