“Really lovely place for families - but food terrible”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 June 2010

We stayed at Vista Badia this June 6th and we had a lovely time . The hotel I would say is perfect for families lots for the kids to do and they have evening shows for all .My only down side is the food ,which we thought was terrible .We went self catering and we ate out in the hotel 3 nights out of our 7 .The 3 nights that we ate in the hotel we where not impressed and the remaining nights we ate in town . Sa Coma is not the best place to eat if you like good food with nice wine .All the restaurants that we tried or looked at the menus at all offered the same foods ; chips , burgers, pasta , chicken , pizza or paella etc for a family that like to eat out and have nice wines this was not ideal. We did try the restaurants that other persons have suggesed and they were nice but again they offered the same foods .The plus side is if you travel into Cala Bona you will find great food .Having said all of this I would stay again .

A great hotel, although rooms could do with updating.

Great facilities, something for everyone especially children. We went AI, and the food was good, although as with all AI you do get fed up with it. The same type of food every day. Food good for kids though, there was always something suitable for picky eaters. The breakfasts were the best.

You do have the option to eat at 4 different restaurants within the Protur Resort, but this was a total nightmare. You have to book at the Clubhouse (a 10min walk from hotel). The clubhouse opens at 9am, and you had to queue from 8.30am to be sure to get a table in one of the restaurants - queuing at 8.30am on holiday is not something we enjoyed!!! We only went once, by the time my husband got to the end of the queue there was only 1 restaurant left - the grill. It was OK, and made a change from the hotel, but I really wanted to try the Italian or Tapas.

It was halfterm when we were there. It was quiet when we first arrived, but it gradually got busier. Sunbeds were all getting reserved by 9am etc, but the towels were not removed. There were lots of English Families.

Mini Club staff are great! Especially Jessica! Try & get sunbeds nr the mini club and you can see your kids in the club (& vice versa) whilst they play. Mini disco every night - great. Paradise Park is free, trampolines, slides etc and lovely water/swimming area, which was very quiet when we were there, and kids love it because of the water slides etc. We did pay to go to La Reserva water Park, it was OK, but if you have small kids (below age 6) then they would be just as happy at Paradise Park, and its free.

Make use of all the other hotel facilities, mini golf, tennis etc. We took bikes and cycled to Cala Millor (only 10min max ride away) and you can ride right along the sea front - gorgeous! Bike hire was free in hotel.

Ask for a room with a large balcony over looking the pool. We did, because another person had said this in a review, and we got what we asked for! So, well worth it! We also booked direct with the Protur website, and saved £800, instead of using Thomson. We booked taxi transfer with the hotel before we arrived. They organised it all for us. It cost 77 Euros each way, payable to the driver. All very easy & straight forward.

We will definately stay in a Protur hotel again, and maybe this one again, purely because it was so child friendly. I would have liked the rooms to be a bit nicer, but they were spotlessly clean, so thats worth a lot!

just returned from a week at the Vista Badia. After really looking forward to it- we were slightly disapointed.
The Hotel was really clean, the rooms had plenty of space- had requested a large balcony- and it was massive, we could see the sea which was great. The staff that spoke English were very friendly and helpful.
A few bad points let it down. A lack of hot water- had to run it 30 minutes before it was warm enough to shower (reception said it was because our room was at the end of the corridor!) The maids started cleaning rooms/moving furniture at 8am each morning, which made sooo much noise you could never sleep in. The food was absolutely terrible in the hotel dining room- felt we wasted so much money on half board- just thankful we hadn't booked All inclusive- we ate out 4 nights it was so bad..
The complex is very big with loads to do, but no one tells you anything or even gives you a map to see what is there.
They do cater mainly for gernan guests.

I had previously visited the vista badia about 10 years ago with my parents.
This time, I was looking for somewhere that was just a short plane journey away, and somewhere nice and flat as didn't want to be pushing a pushchair up hills all day long. Myself, my parnter and our 19 month old son had a lovely holiday. I had asked for a ground floor apartment, overlooking the pool and that is what we got. Our apartment was on the ground floor but was slightly rasied so we had a nice enclosed balcony which was safe for our little boy.
We spent the mornings by the pool, and we found it easy to get sunbeds. We used to have lunch back at the apartment on the balcony, and then take a stroll along the beach front. By the time we got to the sea front our son was asleep in his pushchair so we used to walk right, along the beach to S'Illot. We found the beach here was a lot quieter. The sand was lovely, and the sea was pretty warm, our son loved it.
We found a couple of good restaurants for our evening meal, and used to walk our dinner off by another stroll along the sea front, stopping off for an ice-cream on the way back.
The pool and beach facilities were really great, and it was a good place to take a small child on their first trip on an areplane as not too much travelling. However, we most likely wouldn't return to Sa Coma again, as we didn't find the resort very welcoming. We were self catering, and the vista badia was more for the all inclusive guests.

The hotel was very clean, but we felt very isolated as we were th only english in it, this hotel is catered mainly for the German clientel, couldn't even get the tv to work, it was in German or Spanish, the entertainment was mainly in German, and once again only catered for their needs, Thomson holidays should tell you this when booking.

We have just returned from our second visit to the Vista Badia and yet again we were very happy with our holiday expereince. The Vista Badia is not as publisiced in the UK as the other Protur Sa Coma hotels, although the hotel is filled mainly with British families. You can gain a good deal if you book with Protur themsleves. The rooms are a good size and are well equipped with kettle, toaster and microwave. The TV has british channels, our children were particularly impressed with Cbeebies( great for getting a shower in peace!) The staff are very good and will help with any request. This time we went half board and had a good choice of food and there is always something for the children in the restaurant. Next time we will go all inclusive as prices in Sa Coma are quiet high. The hotel has an indoor pool, open in October although this is not advertised in the Sa Coma resort. The hotel chain have linked the facitlities for all their hotels in Sa Coma. There is an onsite driving range, water park (charge for entry), a farm, mini golf and also a separate childrens play area with trampolines, adventure playground, childrens pool with slide and other playground equipment. Everything in these hotels is geared to keeping children and therefore parents happy.
The resort itself is well contained with a lovely beach and plenty of shops and restaurants. This really is the prefect place for a family holiday and I am already being asked if we can go back next year. We will definitely return to this hotel again.

Travelled on the 3rd September for a week to the Vista Badia Hotel self catering.
Good Points:
-Lovely Pool Area: lots of sunbeds, parasols and space. Managed to get sunbeds everyday even if it was later on in the afternoon.
-Location: short walk to the local bars and shops.
-Beach: Fantastic, safe and clean beach.
-Resort: the resort is quite nice if you want a relaxing holiday, plenty of shops, bars, restaraunts and supermarkets to chose from. Very close to the neighbour restorts which are Cala Millor and Cala Bona (we visited both of these)
-Rooms were spacious, however the maid never once replaced our towels after having to ask for them in the first place when we arrived becuase we werent given any which was quite annoying.

The staff at the hotel are really friendly, however i do think they could spend a bit more time on check in explaining the facitlities avaialable at the hotel and in the protur complex. Theres plenty of things to do for children, theres mini golf, a water park, kids club etc. The hotel is more catered for the german guests, howver this didnt really affect us because we ate out and went to local bars every night. Went to the spa for some treatments which i would reccomend. I personally think this hotel is probably the nicest in the complex, has the nicest atmosphere and is a short walk to the beach. Would reccomend this to families with younger or teenage children mostly.

One word of warning - Dont eat at JJ's bar and restaraunt (this is opposite the big supermarket), as i spent a week in Playa De Muro hospital with my Boyfriend after he had a breakfast from there and got a confirmed case of Salomonella from eggs. I warned the Thomson reps about this after speaking to the insurance company who are checking it out ang getting back to us. The whole situation ruined what would of been a lovely holiday, after we only spent 3nights in the Vista Badia before having to be moved to another hotel at the other side of the island near the hospital.

Janet and Johns in Cala Bona, Delaneys and Royal Oak are all nice places to eat and Britannia bar is proabably the best for entertainement, the Girls so Loud show (a girls aloud tribute) was great fun!
A few people we chatted to at the hotel mentioned it was quite reasonably priced to upgrade to all inclusive when you arrived which is especially good if you have children as the resort is quite expensive with the euro being rubbish at the min, however others said the food in the restaraunt was terrible - so i suppose the choice is up to you really.

All in all, a good hotel, shame about the hospital drama but would return!
