This was our first family trip abroad with our 3 year old. Glad we chose Thomson, glad we chose this hotel. Past reviews are very accurate. Beach is 5 min walk. We hired. A stroller thru Thomson which was a godsend as daughter would conk out at 4pm, awake at 6pm and go to kids disco till 10pm (in hotel) then to bed till 8am! This little routine allowed us to have dinner by ourselves or do some souvenir shopping. Kids club I would highly recommend and me and my other half could play pool, go swimming and relax by the pool without having to keep our eyes open for our daughter. Kids club is inside by the pool area. Enjoy!

Well I promised that I would provide feedback as I normally do on these trips. This was our second visit to Sa Coma having previously stayed at the Parisio a sister hotel of the Coma Gran. We were exposed to this hotedl last year when our good friends the Maxwells stayed there for two weeks. Last year we spent the whole holiday at the hotel and wanted more.

We arrived on Saturday 26th June for 14 days Half board. On our arrival it was as if we hadnt been away. Several of the guest we met last year were in attendance. Initially we thought what have we done. The standard of entertainment last year was very high with nutty nats and king loius and having seen what was initially on offer we were very dissappointed. That said second day our fears were allayed with the high jinx and party spirit of Sunny Sarah! She certainly kept us all going alongwith old stalwart Jiving Jordan the football coach. Cuckoo Katie is still learning the ropes and sadly it showed. She lack the inspirational attitude that we expected. We were even more dissappointed with Crazy T (Tahlisa). Her performance in particular was not that great. Always comparing it against the previous year the children loved the kids reps emma, dannie, charlotte nic nat and rachael. The team leader James I think his name was played a good version of the fat controller rather than the compere in the grease production that the reps participated in. He was in effectual and lacks charisma. As i say though given that the only two entertainment reps that made the holiday were Sarah and Jordan well done to you both. I realise the people I have mentioned dont get a right of reply but having paid a handsome price in difficult times I did expect more from them.

The party games of sarah were brill with a sunny smile every day, well done. Thomson you have something good in her.

The apartment was clean and tidy with adequate space for a family of four. It had good reception staff who were attentive to your every need. The restaurant was fantastic with a meal for each of the family. Poolside was brilliant with lots of activities on the go (again led by sarah and jordan predominatly). Easy to get bed in morning pareticluarly as my mate cannot sleep as he gets older and gets up early to gain our perches.

During the day saw me an dave play waterpolo, volleyball and football. This was great for the wives whop didnt have to watch over us and the kids.

Overall good value for money. Pity it came to an end so quickly a sure sign you have a fab time. It just leaves me to thank the people that made the holiday even more special that is our good friends the maxwells dave elaine, scott, aoey and scott, the duncans the lowes and colin and his family amongst all the other regulars we saw and met again.

start saving for next year. BS

We chose the hotel due to good reviews and we were not disappointed. The rooms and communal areas were spacious and clean, the children's facilities were good and the staff were friendly.

My only small gripes were

a) the entertainment at night by the pool was a bit too loud as it went on until 11.30ish and sometimes we did want to sleep before then especially with a 2 and 4 year old

b) the sunbed saving annoyed me as people would disappear for most of the day and someone else could have had their beds and gone again by the time they had returned

c) the daytime music by the pool was too loud especially if you could only get a sunbed that was close to a speaker!

d) more parasols around the pool would have been good especially as it is a family hotel

Overall though we would definitely go back and next time we would hope to sample the kids club (didn't get to use it as by the time our 4 year old had built up courage to go he came down with chickenpox)

So my and my partner went to this hotel last week and we had a fantastic time!

Theres only 2 of us went and it was our first ever holiday so we were quite worried about it. We flew from Newcastle, and booked with Thomson. We read TripAdvisor a lot before we travelled so seemed only fair to give a review of the hotel.

Hotel

The hotel was fantastic. We stayed on the third floor and overlooked the pool and the beach. We booked a 1 bedroom apartment, and landed ourselves with a beautiful room. We had a kingsized bed, a lovely balcony area and massive living space. The room included a sofa bed which pulls out to be 2 singles, so there was plenty space for a family of four. THere was even a seperate wardbrode to put more clothes in perhaps for the kids. A complete bonus was the Air Conditioning - you can have it on at all times, and can control it from the bedside too to control the fan speeds etc. even had a tv.

Hotel entertainment was done by Thomson which was mornings, in the pool, and the evening entertainment for the kids and adults which even we enjoyed and we have no kids. The reps were always quite helpful and great with everyone. The hotel was in a great location, right around the corner was a supermarket, then a large supermarket and a spar shop right outside the hotel door which wasnt bad priced. We were self catering so never tried the food in the hotel, but I heard it was nice.

Swimming pool was open from 8am till 8pm, we found it good to go at night as there were less people and the sun wasnt as strong. The pool area was great, there were umbrellas, comfy chairs and space to watch the kids. Theres also a kids pool - and the adults pool had a deeper end which was great for us. Right next to the pool is the bar and snack bar where we ate a few times, and every time the food was lovely - and reasonably priced. We never tried the indoor pool. in General probably the best hotel ive stayed at 3 mins from the beach and the best part of sa coma. Whilst the hotel ask you not to put towels down and reserve seats, everyone did it. We found at 11am when we went down to the pool there were chairs, but no umbrellas. So next time I went down quite early to put towels down and get an umbrella. If you cant beat em, join em.

Outside

Outside the hotel was a nice strip of shops cafes and restaurants as youd expect. A nice place was Bar Britannia, which had good food (british) and good entertainment. we hada good few cocktails in there too, and the staff were great. We also had The Kings Head further round which was good for evening entertainment, and sometimes a good disco. For the fussier eaters there was always burger king round the corner too. Lots of places to eat. The beach was lovely and white sand. Sea was really warm and shallow for miles.

We did the pirates dinner show which is definately worth it. The reps sell tickets and you get your meals and drinks and the show which was fantastic, never seen anything like the acrobatics they did in the theatre. We also did a Katamaran sea oddysey which went up the coast and stopped in a few resorts, it stopped in the sea, and had a slide which was great fun. Also had a glass bottom section. Took us around 3 hours all together.

Overall we had a great time, and the only thing that was bad was the flight. On the way back there was someone that had puked all over and the plain was stinking. also a few delays. The thomson/first choice planes are really cramped for space for the 2h50min flight.

we would definately go back to this place, great resort for families and couples, and was nice to see no nutters compared to places like Magaluf and Malia etc.

Katamaran €20 each
Pirates show for best seats €69 each
Packet of fags €3.70 or 200 €33
1Litre of San Miguel in shop €1
Hotel safe in room €12 1 week
Cocktails €4/5
Light Meals €3/4
Most Drinks €3.50
2 loungers and 1 Umbrella at the beach €14 all day.
Water €0.80

A Few tips - there is a supermaket called Eroski - just as big as an asda here and is much cheaper then the normal supermaket round the corner. come out of the hotel, go right, then right at the end then left and youll see it. Takes 5-7 mins to walk there - save a few pennies.

The power in the room works by putting your card/key in the slot. If you want air con for when you come back in, put a different card (any bit of plastic shaped like a card!) in the holder and when you come back in air con has been on. I just put my student card / driving licence in it. made all the difference.

Also if youre a smoker, the tobacco shop doesnt open on a sunday, so if sunday is your last day go on saturday to avoid prices at the airport about €10 more.

Room Tip: Best sun relief found was Aloe Vera from the chemist around the corner. Make use of air con, and shop at Eroski!!

We went to the Coma Gran through Thomson in September 2010 and found that from the second we stepped into the reception area we felt very comfortable. We stayed on the third floor in a one bedroom apartment and found the room to be very clean and tidy with everything we needed (apart from an iron). We stayed two weeks with children of 8 and 5 (boy and girl) and were very said to be going back home.
The reps were very friendly and helpful and apart from two days of rain the weather was also great.
I would recommend all the restaurants local with the kings head and cafe de la mar (bbq) being top of my list.
All in all a great family holiday I would have no hesitation in recommending.
