My partner and I stayed at this hotel for two weeks - last week in May and first week in June. The Hotel is spotlessly clean, staff very efficient and helpful, Amenities for with are catered for - lift available to all floor - dining room included There is a mixture of young and old, families and couples, which we enjoyed, English and German. We are definately planning to return to this hotel. One of the best that we have stayed in.

Room Tip: Views over the pool are lovely

Me and my friend spent 5 nights here end of June/early July. I first visited Sa Coma in the very early 90's and thought 'one day I'll stay there' and it certainly lived up to my expectations. We got a good deal for HB so thought we might just take breakfast and eat out in the evening. I love eating out when on holiday but the food was so good here that we never ate out in the evening. IMHO Sa Coma isn't renowned for decent restaurants so we decided to have our evening meal in the hotel with a nice bottle of wine (between 12 and 15 euros). We requested a room with a sea/pool view and thats what we got; amazing view to wake up to every day. I can't speak highly enough about the staff, the cleanliness and the food; second to none. Couldn't always get a sunbed around the pool but it didn't matter because there was a lovely sun terrace with loads of beds and shade if required. Clientle a mixture of German and English and all the kids very well behaved. Had a problem with our transfer to the airport and the staff were fantastic; sorted it for us. The entertainment (on the one night we stayed at the hotel) was fantastic; South African lady; cant remember her name. I''ve stayed at lots of hotels in Sa Coma and for me this was definitely the best. Ok the bathrooms are a bit dated and the air conditioning not really up to the job but the food/staff/facilities more than make up. Dont want to rave too much cos hoping for a good deal next year.

Room Tip: Pool/sea view

my wife, 9yr old grandaughter and i stayed here from 26th june to 5th july 2013. location is excellent, one street back from the beach. i agree with lots of other reviewers: spotlessly clean, well run hotel with one of the best all inclusive menus i've had.
with the exception of one waiter,(antonio? - about 5'6") who i found to be arrogant and more interested in younger female guests than providing a good service, all the staff were first first class, especially Lavlesh, behind the bar, all the restaurant and cleaning staff too.
i have to disagree with most other British reviewers re the animation team though: i thought these guys worked really hard to keep everyone entertained. not many of the evening acts were my cup of tea but i could appreciate the effort they put in.
Downsides - not many, all small, but worth mentioning:
the all inclusive white wine and rose was awful! (didn't try the red).
all inclusive beer served in 1/2 pints only (usually with a huge head), i think this frustrated the bar staff too because no sooner had you been served, you were back up for another 1/4 pint. you could buy a full pint though?? i was told it was company policy!
another minor complaint was re the gym: the loose weights need updated badly, lights were never on and when i asked if they could turn on the air con i was told no!
probably my biggest gripe was this: we booked through On The Beach, having read other reviews, we requested a 5th floor room overlooking the pool (the last thing we wanted was to be on the street side opposite the bars playing music all night) i had to phone OTB a total of 4 times to get this request done (about 15-20 mins on the phone each time). when we got to the hotel they said they had no record of any requests! we were put in a first floor room directly opposite the bars! the hotel was full so they could not change our room for a couple of days. judging by the rest of OTB's performance i'm inclined to think it's their fault, but either way it was very annoying.
Sa Coma itself was ok but i was glad we didn't need to venture out of the hotel to eat or drink, it all seemed to be german or english pubs selling pub food and every second shop was selling tat. there seemed to be a real lack of nice shops, restaurants and bars, unlike nearby Porto Christo which was lovely. it's a shame because Sa Coma beach is beautiful with a nice promenade but it's lined with tat shops and grubby bike hire shops.
Also a word of warning re the horse and carriage ride near the beach: RIP OFF. we were told it was a half hour trip to s'illot, sa coma and cala millor for 40euro (a bit steep we thought but heyho). it turned out to be sa coma to calla millor and back - just under 20 mins! when i questioned the guy he became a bit aggresive, he told me it was not fair on the horse to go that far!!
I don't know if i would go back to Sa Coma but if you are looking for a really nice all inclusive hotel then i would definitely recommend the Marfil Playa.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel from 18th June 2013 to 23rd June 2013. The previous reviews were all spot on with their assessment of this hotel so you know what you are going to get when you get there.
Hotel had a mixture of old, young, couples and families, British and German. Hotel is spotlessly clean with staff working through the night ensuring it retained it's high standards of hygiene.
Staff are all very pleaseant and can't do enough for you especially the bar staff and in particular Antoinio who is a credit to the hotel.
Food was always hot, very varied in particular the 'slow cooking' area. Draught San Miguel available which was ice-cold and a very pleasant suprise and bonus to the holiday.
Pool was also clean, with plenty of free sunbeds and umberellas for everyone.
A gang of 9 German Bayern Munich football fans arrived on the Friday but they were very well behaved and added additional fun and atmosphere to the hotel
The location is perfect and just a couple of hundred yards from the beach. Some lovely bars especially in Sillot ( bar 54 is well worth a visit and only a 15 minute walk) with excellent views looking out to the sea.
We hired bikes for 8 euros from the hotel and rode into Cala Millor/Cala Bonna which was safe as they had cycle paths from Sa Coma all the way to Cal Bonna which is about 6km. The views whilst riding the bike are exceptional so I would suggest to make very effort to hire one. They are even cheaper to hire in the town.
All in all all Sa Coma is a lovely resort and Hotel Marfil Playa is a hotel I would certainly stay at again. It ticks all the boxes with no negatives.

Room Tip: Rooms looking over the pool are more quiet and the ones facing the main road and Music Bar which sta...

We have just spent a week at the Marfil Playa and really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is very clean & tidy and has excellent facilities. The pool area in particular is very good and there was never an issue getting a seat or sun bed. For a change from the pool the beach is only 2 minutes away from the hotel and was also very nice.

All the staff were very friendly and helpful, the restaurant and bar staff in particular made us feel very welcome. We were all inclusive and based on previous holidays were worried about the quality but we need not have worried here. The food was excellent quality, lots of variety and fresh.

Overall we really enjoyed our break and would recommend the hotel to friends. Our only slight negative would be the air conditioning in the rooms is poor and meant it never really had an impact on the room temperature.

Room Tip: Great views from sea facing rooms especially on the top floors

We have just returned home from a lovely stay in the marfil playa, i would like to say that the food was excellent, but the rooms could be updated but are very clean and tidy. The shower did run hot and cold. This hotel is very heavily used by germans and we thought that the entertainment department catered more for their tastes. We went as a family of 5 and the staff were lovely to our little girl, it was my dad's birthday while we were there and they left a bottle of Rose wine in the room and gave us champagne at dinner which was nice.

We have just returned from a weeks stay at the Marfil Playa. Whilst we cannot fault the hotel for
cleanliness it really is ready for the bedrooms to be updated. We were lucky enough to have hot
weather for our stay but sadly the air conditioning in the room was totally inadequate even on the
lowest temperature. The beds have seen better days and creaked every time you turned over.
There is no fridge in the room. As for the shower, it was a danger, going from scalding hot to
cold! Thankfully we did have a good sea and pool view (5th floor). The walls are paper thin and
we were unlucky to have neighbours who shall we say, liked to express themselves late at night!
I had to bang on the wall a couple of times!
We were on half board and found the food to be quite good, especially the breakfasts. Compliments to the young lady grill chef who made great omelettes and pancakes!
Saga do use this hotel but there were a good mix of ages and nationalities.
We didn't use the pool area as it was very noisy most of the day and so spent loads on beds and
brollys on the beach a few minutes walk away.
The resort is ok but wouldn't want to be there if the weather was not good.

Room Tip: ask for a room 5th floor up overlooking sea.
