“Best Hotel I've stayed in”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 September 2012

We went to Protur Safari park in September 2012. It was brilliant. Check in was really fast, we had a great room. I wouldnt go during the summer hols as I think it would be way too busy as its a massive hotel but out of school summer hols was great. Food was nice, my two boys who are 6 and 2 found the food too different but we get that wherever we go even though the hotel catered for children. The park and waterpark were great, kids thoroughly enjoyed them. The mini golf was good too. Everything is well maintained, clean and tidy. I would definately go again. We didnt have enough time to do everything in a week. Hire the bikes too there is a lovely bike ride along the beach front. They also have security walking the corridors at night. Hotel highly recommended. P.S. you can reserve your sunbeds before 9am - make sure you do!!

A lot has been said about the cleanliness and activities / facilities for kids and families under 12, rightly so these are good. Worth 4*. Staff we met were lovely.
However the all inclusive buffet halls are not. At best I would say 2*.
Quality is below average.
It is a bit of a bun fight trying to get hot food items that are not replenished often enough.
Breakfast tends to be that you can get some of the items some of the time, but not all together.
You will always find something to eat, but it will not be what you really want.
Only on the first night did we eat in the buffet - poor quality.
I would recommend getting up early enough to queue at the club house even though I don't agree with having too. (0810hrs early enough) to get a table at La Fontana (italian) This is 4* food. Try to sit outside, great atmosphere. The Salmon is fantastic. We ate here twice.
THIS LEVEL OF QUALITY SHOULD BE AVAILABLE TO ALL and not just those who queue up.
We chose to eat out all other nights.
Drinks were fine, entertainment for adults very poor, kids disco also seemed below par, compared to other places I have visited.
I would not recommend this hotel for children 13 and over, there was nothing for them to do in the evening and I saw a few moping around in the reception area bored texting friends back home.
Best recomendations are go to the beach - its great.
Catch the bus to the caves of Drach only €2.75 and €12.00 to get in to the caves, great for all aged over 5 years.
Use the supermarket (EROSKI) that the locals use 2 mins past the water park at the back of the hotel complex, much cheaper than the Spar out front.
Hotel appeared to be used mostly by German and eastern europeans, i.e food and entertainment is for them.
3 English speaking T.V. channels, approx. 6-10 German.
Would we go back - no thank you not even for free.

There is lots of good points about this resort but had something missing....can't put my finger on it.

We are 30 & 37 and wanted a chilled holiday but as there was 2500 people it was hard to relax as most of the people where families with young kids. If you have kids I'd recommend it but not to couples.

The hotel was the cleanest I'd been to with really well kept grounds & the staff work really hard. The main restaurants was fine for breakfast and lunch but felt we wanted a quieter better quality evening meal. To do this we had to get up at 8am to que to put our name down for one of the three other restaurants. So we didn't get a lay in all week as we needed to book the restaurant but after going to the main restaurant once for dinner we realised it was well worth getting up early.

The water park wasn't a water park it was a nicer pool with two slides. You had to pay 10eu each to get in, we went there on our last day to have a quieter day (not as many kids). We felt people would of been happier if this was part of the all inclusive package. Having to pay 10eu on top of what we payed for the week was taking the p***. The swim up pool bar that you see in the pictures is in the water park not the main pool area.

If we hadn't of payed as much for this hotel we would of been more than happy but we've stayed at some cheaper all inclusives which at least give you a towel for the pool.

The beach is only a 10 minute walk which was nice but not a lot else going on.

We got given a family room which was really big which we were more than happy with.

Crazy golf was great, three different courses so we played a different course after dinner each night.

Have recently returned from a holiday here. Absolutely brilliant for families. We unfortunately were allocated a room on the ground floor at the back. Don't accept any room commencing 01 followed by an odd number as you will have no view at all and ask for a refurbished room which were absolutely lovely. As I have said, this is a family orientated hotel and very very big. Although it is a holiday not to have been missed, it is not one you would repeat if you were childless.

Can't really find fault with it. Everyone is helpful and nothing is too much trouble. Food as you would expect was repetetive after spending l4 days there. We found it annoying that although the restaurant closed at 9, a little early for our liking but hey ho, one side of the buffet was not replenished after about 8.30 and closed.

Not much else to say apart from the fact we did have a brilliant time as we were with family and friends and it made a nice change to return to Majorca after several years.

Room Tip: Avoid any beginning with 01 followed by an odd number and ask for room in refurbished section.

Just returned back on the 3rd Sep,12 after 11 nights all inclusive.
2 adults and our son of 4years.
Relaxing holiday however would not return to this particular chain of hotels.

Arrived at the hotel in the early hours. Initial expectations of hotel were initially met.
Modern hotel although could do with some upgrading.
? night porter was sitting outside smoking and did not help us with our luggage and did not appear to acknowledge our arrival. We proceeded to get checked in and then left to find our own way to our room.

Room nicely presented and of a good size with basic cooking facilities. Large bathroom with powerful shower and bath. Plenty hot water at all times of the day.

This hotel is very large and something we as a family are not used too. Due to it's size the small details which you would expect in a 4 star, appear to be lost. Found it very impersonal.

This hotel shares it's facilities with the other hotels in the group which are situated adjacent to the safari. Our rep advised that their is approx 2500 rooms in total and I can understand why lack of quality is lost.

All inclusive - feel this group are penny pinching when it comes to all inclusive.

There are themed restaurants outwith the main dining room areas. Be aware that these have to booked on the morning you wish to dine. Require to be outside the club house at 8am if you want any chance of booking a table. Oh, by the way the club house does not open until 9am, so it means wasting an hour of your holiday queueing. Who on earth wants to do this when you are on HOLIDAY!! Company needs to look into this.

We managed to get a booking in both the Italian and Tapas restaurants. Italian was simple an nothing special, although it was a refreshing change from the chaotic feeling of the main dining area, table service provided.

Tapas was most enjoyable, we met up with another family and there was a good selection of dishes. The experience was however spoiled by the eager waiter who appeared to want us away as quickly as possible.
For example: brought shot drinks in the middle of dinner, instead of at the end of meal.
Bringing ice cream for the kids when they had just started main course.
Clearing all the desserts away and not offering us any!
Waiter then rudely told us they were closed (9.30pm), and we had to leave.
In relation to wasting an hour in the mornings, we could not understand why this process was used as the restaurants were practically empty.

We ate in the dining room most of the time as could not be bothered to go through the booking process each morning.
Dining room, of which there are two are light and airy however if you are expecting a relaxed and peaceful meal time, forget it. Due to size it's busy, felt like we were fighting for our food and if you want any hot food from the show kitchen, yes you have to queue again. Both me and my husband sat down as a family however we all ate at different times due high numbers of people and not enough chefs on the hot plates.
Food was generally good and no complaints even though the food seemed to be the same for the majority of the holiday.

Plenty to do for kids however be aware that not everything is included in the all inclusive.
Thomson has a kids club however in this particular hotel they only provide 2 hrs free child care. My son did go twice although this cost 8 euros each time on these particular visits. My son did not want to go back as stated he did not enjoy sessions and was scared of one of the carers. To be fair, she also scarred me:)

The hotel does have another crèche facility run by themselves however we did not use this and I would strongly advise that if kids use this their parents stay with them. Observed two incidents where one little boy hurt himself and appeared distressed and carers did take some time to acknowledge this. Another little boy ran off and no one appeared to act appropriately.

Kids Activities:
There is crazy golf which is free and is a good course.
Around this course is a man made boating lake which has electric boats which are good fun. These do cost 1.80 euro and can become expensive, if like my child constantly wanting to go on them.
In paradis park there are trampolines, wooden fort climbing frame with slides, swings and a small water park with slides which my son loved and so did we, as free.
There is also a electric bike track and various rides which are 1 euro. This can work out expensive and it would have been a good idea if kids on the all inclusive were given a set amount of coins each day to use.

La zerva is situated next to hotel which has water slides and is a pleasant place to spend the day. We did not use this as it costs an extra 25 euros (discounted for all inclusive) and to be honest did not feel this was worth it even though food and drink inside was included. Our son did not ask to use this and was happy with the other facilities.

In relation to activities such as archery, pistol shooting etc there is plenty of choice however is a catch. My husband turned up to try pistol shooting and found out it was 1 pistol to 20 people as was the archery. Decided not to bother as too much hanging around and generally not much fun.
Plenty of bikes to hire which are free and plenty safe area to go.

Bar drinks very basic on all inclusive to the point that the local gin served we observed them using this to wash down bar top.
Beer was nothing special as was the coffee. If you wanted latte or cappuccino then this was extra. Fruit juices were cheap and nasty and cocktails were out of a machine.
Small tubs of icecreams were free however as were mini maid lollies any other brand chargeable.
Large supermarket next to hotel which sells everything and we visited this and bought real fruit, juice, coke etc which can be kept cool in room fridge.

This hotel itself was nicely presented however would not rate the whole experience as 4 star due to it focusing on quantity rather than quality.

We have booked into other 4 stars in both Majorca and Ibiza with Thompson and these hotels did provide a more quality feeling with all inclusive being all inc.

To be honest although we did enjoy our holiday we would not return to this hotel as just found it too big and too busy and a bit out on a limb.

Staff work very hard and always appeared pleasant even though under extreme pressure.

Thompson reps we met appeared a little un motivated and not very dynamic. Male rep appeared uninterested when raised issues around room noise etc but appeared un interested. Additional female not helpful during a particular crisis. Family we became friendly missed bus to airport even though ready in plenty time.. Not interested in sorting problem out, blamed everyone else and then proceeded to walk away leaving a distressed mother and child. In the end we provided the 100 euros for a taxi so they did not miss flight. Not impressed with her customer service or problem solving skills!

Ps this hotel does not provide beach towels so remember to take you own.

This was not a particularly cheap holiday and did not find this hotel value for money compared to other similar hotels. Plenty of things to keep children occupied (at a cost).

Room Tip: Ground floor good location in relation to outside access. We stayed in room 0006 but you do need ea...

I have ner written a review for anything before but we were so impressed i felt the need to do so. I am 23 and my boyfriend is 24 we have been on many holidays together all of which were all-inclusive and we have never been so happy with our hotel/holiday. These are the reasons..... The food is lovely, plenty of choice for breakfast lunch and dinner, all extreamly fresh and amazing quality such as smoked salmon and steak u can have cooked fresh infront of you.
The staff were all so friendly and helpful, all spoke brilliant english which made us feel safe and well looked after. When we arrived it was past midnight and reception informed us they had put a buffet on for us incase we were hungry after our travels and when it came to us leaving we checked out at lunchtime but i asked if we could keep our wristbands on until we left at 7pm, they were so friendly and said yes straight away.
I cant understand why people would say it is a noisy hotel as our hotel room was on ground floor right next to the pool and stage where the entertainment is and we were never woken up by noise in the morning and one night we had an early night and we couldnt hear the music.
The entertainment is like any other hotel, cheesy but good fun, you can see how hard they work as every day u can see them practicing new routines on the stage and we enjoyed it. We didnt find it "german based" at all! We both were constantly saying how the hotel is perfect for everyone from familys to elderly/young couples.
There is so much to do at the hotel we realy enjoyed the crazy golf as you can play in the day or evening and its realy pretty and scenic. We didnt go to the waterpark (must be getting old) but it looked realy fun.
The beach is lovely when my friend saw my photos she said that the beach looked just like the ones in mexico, where she has been, with the white sand and turquise sea which is a 5-10 min walk from the hotel.
Our thompson rep was very helpful there is a board in reception saying the times they were there (twice a day) so cannot understand why anyone would say they wernt there for them. We didnt go to our welcome meeting but they posted some handy info under our door which had a number we could call any time day or night if we needed help or advice.
Both my boyfriend and I said we would strongly reccomend this hotel to anyone.
Usualy after a week away we are ready to come home but we could of stayed here alot longer.
Thankyou to all the staff. Hopefully see you again soon.
