“Good value all inclusive hotel”
Reviewed 3 September 2009

We've just returned from a lovely holiday at the Sa Coma Playa Apartments. We arrived late in the evening by Resorthoppa mini bus which we've never used before but worked very well. The elderly gentleman on reception was a little hard to understand but we got there in the end! We were given our all inclusive bands, room keys and told there was a cold buffet left for us in the dining room. We decided to firstly go to our room (which was on the fifth floor). There were 2 lifts and the entrance to the apartment face the inner courtyard of the hotel while the balcony faced out, making the most of the fantastic views. We had booked a one bedroomed apt thinking the kids would sleep on the sofas in the lounge but soon discovered we had been given a two bedroomed apt :-) It was very spacious with a large living area, dining area, kitchenette (with a very handy fridge), 4 piece bathroom, two good size bedrooms both with fitted wardrobes and 2 sets of patio doors leading out to the balcony (one from the lounge and one from bedroom 1. Nice to know the kids couldn't get to the balcony from their room). The apartment was clean but a little tired. The light above the dining table was dodgy, table had been drawn on, hole in one of the interior doors and flaking varnish round door frames. :-( We didn't find these to be major problems but some people might object. Next we decided to find food and visited the dining which was on the ground floor round the corner from reception. The buffet consisted of cold meat (salami and luncheon meat), slices of cheese and bread, not great but we were starving!!!!! Next visit was to the bar which had a great choice of drinks (tea, coffee, hot choc, pepsi, sprite, fanta, lager, red and white wine, sangria, malibu, tia maria, brandy, vodka, etc., etc.) It was very easy to get whatever drink you wanted no queuing, no problems and a smiling friendly barman!!! We took our seats on the outside terrace by the pool which was very pleasant but we couldn't miss the terrible row coming from the outdoor stage!!!! German entertainer, german songs and lots of german guests. Unfortunately the german nation did not score A+ at the School of Manners. They do not queue, push in, do not say "Bitte" or "Danke" and DO NOT SMILE!!!
The next day we went to breakfast and found it a perfectly acceptable experience. It was buffet style with choices of cereal, yoghurt, fruit, bread (sliced, buns, petit pain, croissant) meat, cheese, bacon, beans and eggs (fried, scrambled and hard boiled).
Next out to the pool. Plenty of sunbeds (usual towel reserving went on but plenty to go round). Pool was clean but area round pool got a little slippy when wet and became a little messy with all the plastic cups people didn't bother to put in the bins provided (always clean again next morning)
There was always a good choice of salad, pickles, fish, potatoes, meat, veg, four flavours of ice cream (happy but hyper kids), fresh fruit, cakes and sweets at both lunch and dinner.
Evenings were the worst time at sa coma playa. The entertainment was pretty dia!!! We used this time to explore the resort of Sa Coma. The "Magic Fun Park" was great with a nice bar and very friendly staff, bungees, trampolines, bouncy castle, go karts etc, etc but of course this all had to be paid for as it was off site. The bar and entertainment complex on the headland near to the hotel was great too.
All in all we had a lovely time at Sa Coma Playa Apts, good points were the lovely spacious apts, location and value for money, bad points were rudeness of Germans and terrible entertainment.

The apartments were clean and located right on the beach - a great view. If you do have a sea-view, beware as the noise from the bar complex located on the promenade kept us awake most nights. When we asked to be moved, the hotel changed our room no problem.

The food is great, for a 3 star complex there was plenty of fresh food served for both lunch and dinner.

The pool area was well maintained, with plenty of sunloungers!

We would definitely recommend for a great value all-inclusive.

My partner and i have just returned from Sa Coma Playa apartments in Majorca. You would have thought we were in Germany! On reading the reviews prior to our holiday i was aware of the German tourists - but felt that apart from that the reviews were good. OMG! everything is in German! And how rude! Never have i encountered a ruder nation. And thats being polite. Meals were good but the restaurant was more like 'feeding time at the farm' what a bunch of animals! Also there wasnt a very good air-conditioning unit in the restaurant so meals were at times unbearable. Hotel location is good and beach is very clean - though expensive to hire the sun-beds and parasol at 13.50 euros a day!
Cleanliness of pool area and pool was disgusting and i never once ventured into the pool. Staff at hotel were pleasant ish. If it wasnt for meeting a really nice couple from liverpool i dont think we would have lasted the week!

Just returned from a lovely relaxing holiday at these apartments(2 adults 2 teenagers and 7 yr old)
Reception staff helpful and pleasant
Night porter miserable and wanted to read or go to sleep rather than give out keys. found him asleep at desk
apartments spacious with large balcony. We had a corner room overlooking pool and sea
we were self catering as we enjoy using the local retaurants. The self catering facilities(2 rings a fridge and sink) were basic as most people were all inclusive. If preparing lots of evening meals the facilities were not really adequate and there were not enough cutlery etc for 6 people as the apartment is intended.(I guess if we had asked more would have been provided)
We hired a toaster for 12 euros a week. I took a travel kettle with me but there was one you could use on the hob if you wished . A tea towel was provided
The apartment was cleaned 5 days out of 7.(OK clean only!!!) Once Weekly sheet change. twice weekly would have been nice as the rooms were VERY hot and sand is brought in from the beach
These apartments need air con for the summer months (they have rads for the cold ones???). We hired 2 fans at 12 euros each which made the nights just about bearable
Beds were like camp beds but I got used to them. Sofa bed a little more comfy
Pool was nice if a little small for size of hotel and the sides were very very slippy I lost count of the amount of people that slipped over
towels were placed on loungers but this was not excessive
The hotel is in an excellent position less than 5 minutes from the beach. It is easy to eat and visit sa coma and s'illiot. We prefered the latter as it had more of a Spanish feel and there were lots of local festivities going on here
It was nice to eat out along the seafront. Most retaurants served the same food
Meals were generally costing betwwen 50 and 60 euro with tip for 4 adults and 1 child. With only myself drinking alcohol
During my time at the apartments there did seem to be an equal amount of german and english families
The entertainment team were german but always spoke in English aswell
My youngest boy joined in some activities around the pool. We did not stay for evening entertainment, but there did not seem to be a lot of it. It started at 8.30 and was finished by 10.30
I would stay at this hotel again as it represented good value for a hotel in August. I would however look at booking one with air cnditioning first

We have just come back after spending a lovely week at this hotel, that's me the wife and 2 boys ( 14 + 9 ). The reception staff were very quick with dealing with everyone who had arrived there at the same time, we had a lighting issue with our room but they were very helpful and it was sorted out in the time they said it would be. The rooms were spacious with the boys sleeping on the sofa beds in the living area and we were in the bedroom, the rooms were cleaned 5 days out of the 7 with fresh towels each time, the only downside to the rooms was that there was no air con. but you can hire a fan from reception.
It was our 1st time going all inclusive and yes, as said in other reviews they do cater for the germans but we had no complaints with what was being offered at the buffets, there was plenty of choice and there was different food every night. The bar/restaurant staff were very friendly and worked very hard in keeping the areas clean. The children made lots of friends, ate and drank too much and really enjoyed themselves. My only gripes were the lack of air con ( it was very hot when we were there ) and the pool was on the small side.
All in all it was a great holiday, who cares that there are a lot of germans there, they behaved better than some british people you get on holiday.

Sa Coma is a lovely family resort with a clean beach and little in the way of noisy brit bars. This 3star hotel offered great fresh food, plenty of drinks, happy and helpful staff and large clean appartments with large(ish) balcony space. It is located right on the beach so if you don't want to stay by the child friendly pool (we always found room round the pool) then the beach is great. At any time of the day you could find a spot right on the shore. Perfect for the little ones to run in and out. Back at the hotel nothing ever seemed any hassle for staff. The entertainment at night is catered for the German crowd but we didn't book in for cabaret anyway!! The kids loved it regardless. If you like lots of fresh fish, meat, salads, fruit and ice cream then come here. If you prefer burger, nuggets and chips every day then stick to Pontins. By the way the weather is fantastic and we can't wait to return

Arrived at the hotel in the early hours and had an easy check in, the guy on reception spoke enough english to get by. We were pleased with the room, it's the 1st time we have been all inclusive and had a full apartment with seperate bedroom, so we enjoyed the space we had. Rooms were cleaned everyday except tuesday and thursday, clean towels and bedding. Bar and restaurent staff all very friendly if you take the time to be polite to them. Drinks all drinkable just don't like the plastic coke cups you always get, it was a treat to have a drink out and get a real glass. Slush and icecream for kids. Cake and coffee and 4pm, it's not cake at all its a tray of biscuits by the pool bar. Not a lot of choice at meal times, always just one potatoe choice, jacket, boiled, chips etc. But food was always hot and of a good standard. Only got bacon once a week, and never had proper sausage for breakfast just hot dog sausage. Entertainment looked good, the German guests were loving it, the British Guests were sat there looking puzzled as to what was going on. Several British Guests asked the entertainment team, who all spoke good English to translate, which thye did for one day, then slipped back to just German. Managed to join in a few games around the pool because my son made friends with a very nice German Boy who translated for us. I don't expect to go to Spain and everyone speak English but i don't expect it all to be German either, most hotels translate so everyone can join in. The Hotel was really hot as it does not have air conditioning, or at least it never has it on, got very hot at breakfast time. The Hotel itself is lovely and is in a great location, we had sea views for as far as the eye can see. The staff are also great. The Germans, although not all of them, are rude. We waited several times either at the bar or for the toaster at breakfast only for a German guest to walk straight to ther front, when you complain they pretend not to understand you. They never say thankyou when you have held a lift or door open for them, i think some of them thought it was there hotel and we shouldn't be there. Saying all of that, some Germans were lovely and afterall you do get some rude English people. All in all we had a great holiday as we met family in Sa Coma, and if we were to do that again i would go back, but wouldn't go back with just the four of us as we would be board.
