“Cannot fault this hotel at all, outstanding!”
Reviewed 19 June 2012

I normally pour through the reviews on here so only fair that I leave a detailed review.

So we arrived on the 6th June, went to our room and it didnt look like the superior room picture on the web, went back to reception, spoke with Clare who is English and very helpful. She said it was because there were two types of room; a family suite where basically the sofabed and adults twin bed face each other separated by sliding doors and one where its all open plan. Basically the same but laid out differently. We felt the family suite was cramped and Clare said we could happily move, no fuss, no bother, great.

This really set the tone for the rest of the holiday which was thoroughly enjoyable. So breaking it down:

Staff: Exceptional (yes exceptional) and I mean all of them, reception, restaurant staff, bar staff just fantastic. You may have seen the entertainers name Lina crop up time and time again, and for good reason. She is *amazing*, running the entertainment for the adults single handed with such passion and enthusiasm. Make sure you get involved playing 'Sjoelen' which is great fun and there is an outside ping pong table which is very popular.

Rooms: Like I said we preferred the open plan room to the family suite but all rooms overlook the pool and are clean, modern. There are no baths but have excellent walk-in showers. We did go for a safe but to be honest its such a warm and friendly resort I'm not really sure you would need to.

Food: Incredible, such a choice and range at every meal. I recommend the stir fry of an evening which the chefs cook up to order, sometimes a little bit of a queue but a healthy and filling meal. We've done a number of all inclusives and the food here was way better than anything else we have had. Beer and white/red wine you help yourself to. Beer is ok, red wine isnt bad but didnt think much to the white wine. The coffee out of the machines is ok too.

Facilities: Pool is a decent size, as others have said the sun moves around and different parts have sun at different times, like the sunbeds really. We didnt think the hotel was too busy so always got sunbeds fine. I personally detest the whole towel reservation thing (and in my experience the British are the worst for this *not* the germans!) and it wasnt too bad at all. There is a gym which is sparse but has a couple of bikes, a treadmill and some dumbbells but the equipment is new and up to date. There is the lounge bar that opens from 6pm and the pool bar is open all day. Its worth nothing that during euro 2012 games with a 6pm kick-off they opened the bar at 5pm, that gives you an idea of the sort of place this is, little touches that mean *alot*

Entertainment: On the whole not bad at all, couple of ropey acts, one that stands out (for being bad) was a robbie williams tribute, some joker calling himself 'Rob idol', well apart from his Mum and best friend I cant imagine who tells him he can sing, it was painfully obvious he has not had any vocal coaching whatsoever but we did get some really good acts overall.

Resort: really nice beaches (sa coma and s'illot) just a few minutes walk away, you can really wade out far and nice sandy beaches. We found a couple of bars nearby and drinks prices were really good, typically 1.5-2 euros a pint so if you did want a change from the hotel.

Thats about it really, I cannot think of a single thing to complain about with regards to this hotel, simply outstanding!

Just a couple of tips; if you like really good coffee then at the pool bar they have a coffee machine behind the bar which is a bean to cup machine which gives you really good coffee. Dont buy stuff from shops on the beachfront, go one street back and you'll find prices are cheaper. In the bar are two large bottles of a drink the locals call 'herbs', try the sweet and and the dry (they are shots) and get yourself some (called Tunel) in the local spar to bring home.

Go and enjoy

Just back from a week's holiday at the Palmeras Playa - had a great time as this really is a fantastic hotel. It is spotlessly clean, the staff are very nice & friendly, the room was great with an enormous walk in shower, food excellent (almost too much to choose from), entertainment was entertaining & facilities for children very good. TV in bedroom even has BBC, ITV & some other UK channels! My 5 year old daughter loved the mini club & mini disco which is held every night at 8.30pm. Would recommend the hotel to anyone as it is lovely. Don't be put off by comments about some of the sun beds being in shade - most are in the sun for most of the day although the sun does move round. If you are a sun worshipper, some (especially those on the sun deck) are in direct sun all day. The hotel is also really close to the beach so very easy to visit the beach if you want to. Very highly recommended.

First of the ladies on reception are welcoming and helpful, the rooms are fantastic everything you could need and very clean, the pool is a good size not small like previous comments! plenty of sunbeds didn't have to rush down in the morning, the food was beautiful the best I've had at an allinclusive and I've stayed at 8 now, everything you could want even stirfry made to order and stunning desserts, the beach is a 2 minute walk and the little bay is perfect its so clear my son and myself loved it, the night-time entertainment got better as the fortnight went on, the daytime stuff was good fun I took part in aquafit a few times and Jacob took part in some of the kids activities and had good fun, we met some wonderful people and the atmosphere was fab the staff can't do enough for you, a big thankyou to all the restaurant staff and bar staff, including Mercedes, Jose and Paco ; ) we can't praise you enough, Tracy & Jacob.

We have just returned from a weeks holiday here and we can't wait to return !!! We booked to go only 2 days before our departure date. We were not disappointed. On arrival we were greeted by very helpful and friendly staff who explained all about hotel and showed us to a fabulous room. Our room was of decent size and was decorated modernly and was comfortable. We had twin beds dresseing table with a lovely sized mirror. There was sofa and telly and our balcony was a good size with table chairs and airer.
The pool was good however was a little chilly in the morning, due to it being deep. The sunloungers are good and there wasn't a shortage ! However we could have done with a mattress for them.
The food was fabulous !!! we could always find something to eat and the desserts were to die for !! We always got a table no problem and the waiters were great !!
The hotel is great for couples, families with small kids and is wheelchair and buggy friendly.

We had a fabulous time at this hotel and will definitely be returning !!!

I have just returned from a week's break with a girlfriend at the Palmeras Playa Hotel in Sa Coma. We had visited a similarly rated all inclusive hotel in Turkey last year and had a fantastic time so were travelling with rather high hopes and expectations. Comparatively, the Palmeras Playa sadly didn't live up to last year's experience, however, it was still a nice break. As I always use Trip Advisor when selecting a holiday, I thought it may help to outline some positives and some negatives:

Positives
The hotel is clean and up to scratch throughout
The staff are exceptionally friendly and welcoming. I speak a little Spanish and they engaged me in conversation each day which I thoroughly enjoyed and helped me to practice!
The food is to a high quality and varied
There are plenty of sunbeds around the pool
The hotel is within easy walking distance to the beach and to the main stretch of shops/bars
The rooms are very spacious with large walk-in showers

Negatives
Other than the main bar which is open in the evenings, all drink is self service and the wine isn't particularly palatable
Rooms only had showers and no baths
While there are plenty of sunbeds, due to the layout of the pool area, the sides of the pool lose the sun over the course of the day - this meant that by 8am every morning, towels had been put out on all the sunbeds at either end of the pool where the sun was guaranteed all day long.
The evening entertainment isn't great and there were a lot of technical problems during our week's stay. We had an Elvis impersonator who could barely sing in tune, having to perform in the dark as the lights had broken!
The main Sa Coma beach isn't particularly pleasant and there is a lot of seaweed which smells bad. I would recommend heading towards S'Illot beach which is only slightly further along the coast in the opposite direction, much prettier and quieter.
Everything stops within the hotel at midnight. My friend and I attempted to leave the hotel for a later night out but the streets were dead and it was a little intimidating so we quickly turned back.

While I enjoyed my break at the Palmeras Playa, I wouldn't return and couldn't have done a fortnight there as there is little to do. The entertainment team work hard but the activities on offer are somewhat lacking.

I would recommend this hotel for famillies with young children and it felt that this is who the holiday was aimed at as a whole, with a kids club and mini-disco on site. As two single girls in our early 30s, we were very much in the minority.

Transfer-wise, we were lucky to be the first drop off going out to Majorca so only had about an hour's travel time. Coming back, however, we were the first pick-up and then proceeded to wind around the streets of the neighbouring resorts for an hour, before we left for the airport - doubling our transfer time.

We went on one excursion during our stay which was arranged by our First Choice/Thomson rep. This was the Lazy Days Catamaran cruise which involved sailing from Cala Ratjada (about 45 minutes away), around the coast to the north, stopping for a couple of hours for swimming and a barbeque lunch on board, before sailing back. This was absolute bliss however, overpriced at 54 Euros. If you're feeling flush however, I would highly recommend it but do be aware that it can get rather choppy so not one for those who suffer with sea sickness!

Lovely hotel, with large modern rooms, they were cleaned to a high standard every day, it wasnt too noisey by day or night. The reception team were very proffesional. The entertainment was ok. The food was fantastic, tasty and plenty of choice. The staff in the restaraunt were happy and genuine and couldnt do enough for you. The bar staff were very good, they seemed very efficient and pleasant and never ever had many people waiting to be served. The pool and sunbeds were cleaned every morning and you didnt have to rush down to reserve a bed, there was always plenty spare throughout the day. All in all if you want a very, very good hotel with excellent service, then this is the place to be!! i will definatly return in the future.

My wife and two boys aged 5 &11 just spent a 10 night holiday at the Palmeras Playa & it was one of the best holidays we have ever had. The food was of an excellent standard and choice if you didn't like something the waiting staff would soon remove your plate and you can try something else and our two boys were never hungry.
The standard of cleanliness was first class the staff were continuously cleaning windows or sweeping or wiping tables all day long.
Hotel staff were always helpful or smiling and the reception staff should be given gold stars for advise or just being sociable.
Myself & my family will definitely return to this fantastic hotel.

Room Tip: Subeds in the busy summer months could be an issue around the pool but the beach is only a 100m away...
