My Husband and I stayed here betweeen 13th-20th september 2012,the hotel room was very comfortable and clean the towels changed everyday the beds were not that comfortable but never the less cleanliness made up for this.
The food was of a high standard, the fish dishes were excellent I wish that they would refrain
from covering them with non discript sauces as this distracted the taste away from the fish
my husband eats more plain food so he managed to find a good selection of chicken chips
and meats . On the odd occasion i did try the cakes which did look beautiful but tasted sameish
all in all they did cater particularily well for such a vast amount of people.

I would not like to go in peak holiday periods ie school holidays as I do not think that you would be able to secure a sun bed or get into the pool as not enough outside area to cater for over
300 rooms.

The beaches were lovely and sandy and packed in
the middle of September, very handy location for early morning walks and early evening.
as 2 mins from the hotel, we did not try any of the trips as just wanted a relaxing break and that is what we got we would go back again for this reason but obviously we like to try different places as we do not often go back to the same holiday resort.
I would rate the whole experience as 8 out of 10 and would definately say go to this hotel.

Nice pool and gardens but could get shade as surrounded by hotel 7 floors. Beach so close 100m or 2 mins stroll. Nice beach. Resort been taken over by all inclusive so bars restaurants were dead. Relaxing time. Would recommend hotel for comfortable stay but our room was quite small. Had small balcony with view of pool. Didn't eat at hotel and see entertainment. Kids club was not english. Changed here from bouganvilla and glad we did as that was along way from the beach although they do a train i think. Could see it in the distance near motorway and looked like butlins. Probably quite nice. Won't go to sa coma again due to being so dead xxx

This is a very good hotel with the best food we have had on an all inclusive basis, and we usually go all inclusive. The staff are brilliant and always helpfull from the excellent English speakers in reception to the cleaners.

There are lots of sunbeds, we went in the first two weeks in September, but because there are buildings on three sides the sun does not get to some of them until the afternoon but that suited us we are not devout sun worshippers.

The bed room was huge, more like a suite, and the balcony was certainly adequate.

This is not a beach front hotel but thebeatiful beach is only two minutes away, but you will have to hire sun loungers and parasols if you want them at about14 euro per day. Otherwise, if you want to go to the beach regularly buy air beds and an umbrella it will save you money

We had a great time and would thoroughly recommend this hotel. We were well looked after.

The hotel was exceptionally cleaned by the hardworking staff, there was plenty of food on offer several times throughout the day, and enough choices to last 11days, which is how long we stayed for. The entertainment was good and as expected, some nights better than others. The location was good as there are shops just up the road and you can walk along the beach to calla millor and cala bona etc or get a bus/train just outside the hotel for about 2euros and anything you don't know, the reception staff were lovely and always happy to help.
Our room was again lovely and had linen replaced daily which was a plus. I had a great relaxing holiday and was lucky with the hot weather on 9 days the other two there was a thunderstorm which is uncontrollable but the sun returned anyway :)
The waiters/bar tenders were great!! they all seemed to love the kids and all treated me as a friend every night and at the pool bar in the day!! I was surprised by there only being one pool though, from the photos I imagined there were a few but maybe that was just me. It was slightly annoying how the hotel blocks blocked off the early morning/evening sun but you have it for the main day hours which is plenty. and you can always go the beach if you want constant heat!
I have to laugh at myself when saying that one of the cocktails, the "san francisco" was non alcoholic but not listed in the non alcoholic section on the menu and stupidly drank it for the first few days not realising this and pondering with another guest why it wasnt getting us drunk (assuming it was very weak) and decided to have a race drinking them to which the waiters laughed and asked if we wanted some vodka in them!..haha so embarrased! ..oh also the stir fry in the restaurant was yummy although better when I asked for not so much salt!
My only complaints would be that I cannot stand smoke and the seating area is outside where the entertainment is (there is an indoor bar but I didn't want to have to go inside and miss it because other people were smoking) and it was almost unbearable some nights. Obviously it depends who you sit near but you can't keep moving, this is no fault of the hotel due to the law but maybe there should be a non smoking area outside so it doesn't ruin the night for us.
Also one day we stepped into the lift and were horrified when the lights went off and it banged to the ground; luckily the doors opened and we were safe (although weary of the lifts in future- but it didnt happen again), so I mentioned it to the staff and was told that it was okay, they knew there was maintenance work going on!!...I was like thanks for putting a sign up so guests know not to risk their lives...(well slight exageration but you know what I mean) but apart from this minor detail I really did have a lovely stay and would return in an instant if I could; mainly for the pool sun and friends I made!

This was our first experience of 'All Inclusive' and it was fantastic. The hotel was excellent and provided us with a brilliant holiday experience in a super resort. We weren't sure what to expect from Sa Coma, but it was great. It had everything you might need and wasn't too big. The lovely beach, promenade, shops and medical facilities were just a very short walk away from the hotel. Both the hotel and resort are very family friendly and public transport was cheap and frequent, if required.

Staff - so helpful and friendly. Reception staff the best ever! They couldn't do enough for you. Restaurant and bar staff friendly, cheerful and 'on the ball'. They worked so hard to please you.

Rooms - fantastic - massive, clean and well equipped (air conditioning, fridge, safe, settee and chair, superb bathroom / shower, TV with English channels).

Food & Drink - unbelievable choice and standard of food, considering that it is buffet style. You would have to be 'hard faced' to complain about the food in this place. There was everything, from traditional English dishes to continental choices. They even had chefs cooking certain things to order for those who wanted it. Good selection of drinks available throughout the hotel. It is also worth mentioning that the time windows for meals are very generous. Three hour slots for breakfast and evening meal helped to avoid a mad rush and over crowding in the dining room. If you somehow miss breakfast they even provide a continental breakfast option by the pool from 10.30.

Entertainment - the nightly entertainment was reasonable in a pleasant outdoor space. The entertainment team worked really hard to please, with an act every night, but we just thought that they could have provided more opportunities for people to get up and dance. The entertainment team also provided lots to do throughout the day for those who wanted to join in and they were brilliant with the children.

We rarely return to the same place for holidays, because we like to experience different places, but we would go back to the Palmeras Playa. We would recommend this hotel and resort to anyone who wants a fantastic holiday in a family friendly (and safe) environment.

Only negatives - lovely pool, but very cold!! Sunbeds - plenty of them, but some SELFISH individuals (British) still persist in putting towels out at the crack of dawn when it is totally unnecessary. The hotel states that this is not allowed, but does nothing to prevent it. Perhaps a previous reviewer has a point about having a dress code for the evening meal??

Room Tip: If you want the sun on your balcony and you want to see the entertainment stage request a room in th...

Myself and my wife have just returned from The Palmeras Playa. We stayed for 7 nights from 8th September.

Check in; This was the fastest check-in we have ever witnessed, and was clear and precise, even the directions to our room (which can at times be confusing).

Room; Top quality and definateley deserving of the Hotels 4star award.

Staff; The reception staff were always very pleasant and exceptionally helpful. However we found the majority of bar and restaurant staff to be very miserable. Some of them couldnt even be bothered to acknowledge you.

Restaurant; The first thing that we noticed was, that even though this is a 4 Star establishment, there was no dress code for dinner.I am no snob, but I do feel that men should be required to wear long trousers for dinner.I would guess that 60-70% of men were wearing shorts, and some even had football shirts on in the restaurant. This I feel lets the hotel standard fall.

Food; Contrary to previous reviews,we found the food to be of below 4 Star standard. The lack of choice at meal times was annoying, and the quality was often very poor.

Drinks; The drinks were acceptable, but I did notice that the beer was better in the snack bar and restaurant than the evening bar, where it was often not cold. All soft drinks were very good.

Pool; The swimming pool was a major disappointment, at times it appeared unclean with a greasy film of something and debris from the trees floating on it .

All in all we would give the hotel 10/10 for accomodation and reception service, but sadlyan average 5/10 for everything else. This hotel could do so much better

My girlfriend and I (both 23 years old) visited the Palermas Playa between the 6th-13th September 2012. To save the lazy readers time, it was everything we wanted it to be!

LOCATION

Our expectations for a week away in the sun was to visit a resort which is safe, clean and relatively quiet. So, after researching we picked Sa Coma. The Palmeras Playa was just off the centre of Sa Coma, meaning shops and the beach were an arm's stretch away. Bus stop right outside, no booming night clubs or busy roads, just location perfection!

FOOD

We aren't too keen on buffet food (my girlfriend especially does not like buffets!), however the food was great! There was a variety of foods, with each night offering more varieties. The main meats were made by chefs to your taste. We ate breakfast, lunch and dinner every day, which is something we hand't planned on doing.

ROOMS

The rooms were clean and huge! We especially loved the shower, and plan on having ours just like it! A big king sized bed fitted the bill as we watched the TV before dropping off at night. 5 Star rooms! Had a fridge, safe, sofa, loads of storage, hairdryer and a small clothes dryer on the balcony!

OVERALL

The staff were always more than helpful at reception. They offered perfect service and couldn't have possibly delivered any more!
PRO'S - Delightful hotel, with lovely staff and decent food in a spot on location
CON'S - People reserving sunbeds with towels! Wasn't much sun around the pool, but this wouldn't be a problem if people weren't selfish and having towels but never using the beds (still, we got nice tans though)
