We decided to go for a hike in Valldemossa after reading so many great reviews about it. However, after asking about the hike in the tourist office (not a very helpful person in the office by the way), we were told the route was closed because local farmers did not want people on their land and we were guided towards an alternative route. However, we did not have a map for the hike nor did the office have one to sell or even provide us with any useful information. We decided to try our luck anyway and ended up climbing up a mountain in a forest in 90 degrees. Obviously we were completely lost but luckily we refused to give up and found onto a path eventually. In the end it turned out that we were on the Arcduke Way and there were many other hikers so not sure about it being closed.
The views from the top are awesome and definitely worth getting lost along the way. We decided to hike to Deia rather than return to Valldemossa and finding the little path to Deia was the most difficult thing but we found it eventually. The hike down in the forest to Deia is very strenuous, tough on knees and bit adventurous as the path is rather close to the cliffs but it was a lovely hike otherwise.
