After driving 8 hours, my son and I stopped here. We were looking for someplace inexpensive but with wifi as we both had some work to finish. Not only did the wifi not reach our room (we had to walk down the hall almost to the front desk to get a signal), but the bathroom was DISGUSTING (and that's putting it nicely)!!! I know it's an older place but I have stayed there before without issue. This time, as we checked the room, we found that the toilet seat looked as if it had been melted or burned or chewed on by a dog, I don't know how else you would make a toilet seat look that way. Also, there was fecal matter on the seat and in the toilet. I can out up with a lot, but I'm not going to accept a room like that. When we went to talk to the front desk, the clerk treated us like we were lying, saying that the room had just been renovated and that the internet company had just been there. There was nothing renovated about that room. I told them we wanted to leave and the clerk tried to say she didn't know how to refund the charge and that she would leave a message for another person to deal with it. I have received one voicemail and cannot get my calls returned. This is definitely poor service and I will never stay in this hotel again. If you value your money, this is not the place to stay.

I have thoroughly investigated and discussed your complaint with my staff (the housekeeper who cleaned the room, the housekeeper that inspected and approved the room, the desk clerk on duty you made your complaint to, an off duty desk clerk who inspected the room with the clerk on duty, and my maintenance man who replaced the seat). All verified there was an issue with the toilet seat so it has been replaced; however, the seat was old so the plastic lacquer covering it had begun to deteriorate but it was clean.
You stated, “When we went to talk to the front desk, the clerk treated us like we were lying, saying that the room had just been renovated and that the internet company had just been there.” The room had been renovated recently but the toilet seat did need to be replaced; we had an issue with the wifi before your stay and had it repaired the day of your stay.
You stated, “I told them we wanted to leave and the clerk tried to say she didn't know how to refund the charge and that she would leave a message for another person to deal with it.” The clerk did notify me of your complaint immediately but clerks are not authorized to give refunds; the corporate office mails a check within 2 weeks if I approve a refund. I did not approve a refund for you because you refused to be moved to another room but used that room for over an hour so it had to be re-cleaned.
You stated, “I have received one voicemail and cannot get my calls returned.” I left one voice mail and called several more times.

Very clean rooms, and great service! The employees were not what I expected, very friendly and always willing to talk, and share information about placed to go, and things to see. Pet friendly, and plenty of room for them to walk around. The view was great, mountains behind you, and valleys on the side. We will be going back.

This hotel is small as well as rooms. Adequate in cleanliness. Breakfast is all carbs and very little selection. Local calls require a deposit and my cell had no signal. Desk clerk was pleasant and let me use hotel phone to call local family.

My family stayed at your facility in January while attending a funeral. The staff was absolutely amazing. This is the first time my family has stayed at this property and I couldn't have been more pleased. Thank you Super 8 Norton for everything you did for my family while they were there!

I found that this hotel was the cheapest in the area & have stayed here before. My daughter goes to UVA-Wise & this is now the only place I will stay when I visit her. The staff was friendly, the Refrigerator was fairly modern and best of all, they have all the Extended Basic Cable channels that no other hotels offer. I've stayed at Inn at Norton before & the TV at the Super 8 is much better & this room was cheaper. Also, the heater worked well on this cold weekend & the breakfast was just about average (have had better) but what did I expect for the price? There IS a Hardee's next door if I was that hard up for a good breakfast. I will stay here again.
