“Great hotel!”
Reviewed 20 August 2014

We stayed here just for fun one night and the place was great! We loved the restaurant and the pool and business center there was NO problem with the noise like other reviews said but there are eat plugs just in case. That night we decided to go to the drive inn theater just up the mountain in Appalachia VA Central Drive Inn we loved that too they have great prices so if your in Norton we suggest that you go there. We do have a few suggestions for the hotel there pool is only open till 9pm we thought that was a little early and the pool does not have a picture on the website I think they should add that. PLUS no breakfast for free which when you pay that much you expect. But overall good choice!

I enjioyed my stay here. Norton is within a fairly easy drive from attractions in Bristol and Abingdon. I was impressed with the friendlyness of the staff and the cleanliness of the property. The clorene odor was extreme at the pool so I didn't use it. No other problems.

Stayed for 3 nights for business. Room was very good and the staff was friendly and helpful. However I must advise against the Lounge on Sunday and Monday. The bartender was a north-end of a south bound horse. Just awful! We finished our 1 drink and went somewhere else. I refuse to spend my money and be insulted by a second rate bartender!
I will stay again, if needed, but will avoid the lounge on Monday. After talking to the manager, we went back on Tuesday and the 2 Ladies working were very nice and professional.

Room Tip: Higher is better and quieter

Found hotel to be clean and accommodating but is at a fairly busy intersection. Compression brakes on coal trucks slowing for traffic signal are very disturbing. A city ordinance would certainly help the sleepless night in Norton. Earplugs are in the rooms but highly recommend you take a fan or some other device to help cover the noise. Odd numbered are on the parking lot side.. probably lots quieter. Restaurant was very good.

Room Tip: Rooms on side of parking lot...away from roadside.

This hotel was our home for a weekend trip to VA. It was clean, the staff was helpful, and the restaurant/bar upstairs was good. But a build up of wax on the chairs in the room got all over us and ruined a pair of my pants. The coffee provided in the room was pretty nasty. And the most irritating thing was their wifi--every 10 minutes, we had to log in again. It was an above average hotel...probably the nicest one in Norton, but nothing to brag about.

Room Tip: get a room on the parking lot side, less traffic noise. and I don't believe I would want to sta...

We selected the Holiday in based on previous experiences by other teams in past years. We found the rooms nice, clean, well maintained, comfortable and roomy. Being with a baseball team there was lots of room for equipment and luggage that we appreciated. The breakfast in the hotel was great for keeping the team on schedule and getting the boys fed fast. The best thing about the hotel though was the staff, everyone was very friendly and accommodating. The cleaning and maintenance people were all friendly and helpful. The management and staff were pleasant and hospitibal. We were a large group of teen boys and could sometimes get a little excited and noisy. The staff was good working with us to keep the enthusiasm in check but allowing the boys to have fun. The lobby was smallish but enough for a gathering place to marshal the groups

The location was in downtown Norton, which isn't a large town, but there were several local conveniences. Aside from the hotel restaurant there were several restaurants very close to the hotel and allowed the team to pick which place to eat since they were all close, reasonably proved and very good and good value. Since the boys will tend to wander during off time there was a dairy queen a longer walking distance away, a park and a high school with fields. The park provided a diversion for things other than baseball and the high school had baseball fields for practice. All a walking distance away.

There was shopping close to the hotel just a short ride away and a theater multiplex that was a longer walk or very short drive.

We had a delightful tournament where we played well and it was most likely contributed to by the restul accommodations at the Holiday Inn, Norton, VA.

There are so many types of hotels..but, not in this area of Virginia. We stay in this part of SW VA annually for a dental mission. Hotel choices are limited. This hotel is by far the best available in our experience. The hotel is clean and the rooms have comfortable beds and linens. The staff is polite and helpful. The restaurant is verynunderstated and almost make-shift. But, it worked for our weekend needs. We will stay again enthusiastically.
