We will be going to the Olivia beach next month(july) for two weeks of being in heaven!! this will be our 7th time in 3 years!! All staff friendly and helpful, food and drink EXCELLENT!!!! main building rooms EXCELLENT annex not so good!! book main building to really enjoy your holiday. fantastic beach just beware of the high wind so you will burn if your not carefull. Short bus trip into town from outside the hotel . commercial center has a regular sunday market which is a must! also the Baku market twice aweek next to the water park. If you venture into Corralejo at night the bars in the square behind the harbour is also a must very relaxing. A very spiritual place to chill out.

Room Tip: rooms in the main building ask for seaview on booking!!!!!!

I don't normally book all-inclusive packages as I like to try different restaurants and explore the area I'm visiting, but we wanted a relaxing beach holiday this year and the Oliva seemed to offer everything we wanted.

I booked a week for my family (2 teenage girls, 17 and 19, my husband and myself) first week of June. We had 2 seaview rooms (actually I think they are all seaview). It was perfect. The location on the beach is totally amazing. The room decor is dated but still in good condition and very clean.

There are 4 restaurants - all buffet (2 are your 'everyday' restaurants, the other 2 are a Chinese and Canarian which you need to book and can only visit once each week). Food was plentiful and varied, not haute cuisine, but a high standard. Someone mentioned in a previous review that it was all chips and potatoes - not the case when we were there. There was a choice of 5 hot meat/fish dishes every day, 4 or 5 hot vegetarian dishes, a pasta/noodle/rice section with about 6 dishes, the starter section consisting of salads, cold meats, eggs, seafood, cheese etc, a bakery section (for breakfast there seemed to be every type of bread available) and about 12 desserts and various cheeses in the sweet section. The snack bar food was the same everyday however - chips, pizzas, sausages, burgers, cold meats, eggs, salads, fruit, cakes and ice cream. You could eat non-stop all day if you wanted and there was something for everyone.

The Chinese restaurant was a very pleasant surprise. I wasn't expecting authentic Chinese food in Fuerteventura but the Chinese chef ensured that is what we got. I am half Chinese so believe me the food was excellent!
It was my husband's birthday when we visited the Chinese restaurant. They layed out the table with candles, napkins in the shape of swans and hearts, flowers and sprinkled petals. A rather large and delicious chocolate cake and champagne was provided - all on the house. We were very impressed.

The bars are open all day and the bar staff will mix any cocktails you want. Beer, wine, soft drinks, coffee and tea are available for you to help yourself.

Like any hotel with a pool you need to book your sunbed early whether the other guests are German, English, Indian or whatever! 8.30am was about the right time to find a bed - I always had a swim at that time anyway so it wasn't a problem but people coming to the pool at noon still managed to find sunbeds - just not right next to the pool, there was no shortage.

We used the pool by the main hotel building which is where all the activities took place. I think the annexe pool is quieter.

If you stay in the main hotel you are provided with fresh pool towels every day.

The staff were great, we received first class treatment.

Entertainment during the day consisted of volleyball, water polo, rifle shooting, aqua aerobics, yoga, other exercise classes, bingo etc. There were tennis courts, pool tables, table tennis etc as well. Evening entertainment was partly provided by the hotel's animation team and partly by other entertainers. The African gymnasts were especially good.

There are a lot of steps in this hotel so not worth taking high heels! Dress is casual. Weather was perfect - hot during the day (but comfortable as there was always a breeze) and cool in the evenings, air con not required.

Fuertaventura is a quiet island in general compared to for example Tenerife (stayed in Playa de Las Americas). The Oliva Hotel is perfect for families and older people and not for your 18 - 30s crowd wanting something more lively. My teenage daughters had a great time but I think if we had stayed more than a week they may have become a little restless...

My only complaint is the hairdryer in the bathroom was useless. Hotel hairdryers are never very good but this one was a ridiculous tube contraption, no power and short tube. BRILLIANT hotel otherwise!

Room Tip: We stayed in the main hotel and had 2 adjoining rooms. The annexe rooms are best for families with...

not the place for 2 young girls, the hotel was in the middle of nowhere with nothing to do, the entertainment was in a different language (Spanish and German) maybe this was because 90% of the guest were 50+++++ year old rude Germans, we were in bed by 8:30 most nights. i was ready to go home after 2 days. i' ve been on many all inclusive holidays but this had the worse selection of food the same every night. the pool was too small for all the guests and very cold, you have to get up very early to grab yourselves a sun lounger. i have to say the hotel was nice and clean except for the outside toilets i would recommend a visit to the zoo. ti' s wasn't a laid back and friendly holiday at all the guest and some of the staff were impolite and rude, this holiday was a total waste of time and money, will never go back.

Room Tip: just don't go to this hotel.

My husband and I and our 3 children had 2 weeks here in May 2012 and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We had a bit of a problem with the room first, as we had on the Thomson site it said that we would be accommodated in the Annex, which is much better for a family, BUT because there was 5 of us they had put us in 2 different apartments!! Obviously as my children are 12, 7 & 4, this was ridiculous. The reception staff were lovely and upgraded us to a two bedroomed apartment, which had a huge living room and openplan stair case (not suitable to people with babies) and two bedrooms.
The air conditioning was pretty much none existent and very noisy, but we managed ok by keeping the windows open.
All of the staff we encountered were wonderful and very friendly, and the all-inclusive food was of a beautifully fresh quality. I just got a little bit bored after 2 weeks really, as it kind of rolled into one, but there is always something to eat.
I personally thought the wine and Sangria was awful, but there seemed to be a lot of people that were drinking it. The Strawberry Daquari was a winner though!!
There are 2 pretty different parts of this complex. One is the main hotel, which you will see in all of the brochures and the other one is the annex, which personally I feel is more geared for families.
There is a kids club and the reps who were looking after the children were absolutely lovely and I am pretty sure they don't get paid enough for the care and dedication they have for the kids in their care.
My only problem with that was the fact one of the French tour Operators there, would come and ask people did they want to play water polo, which is fine, however this was played in the shallow end of the children's pool! Therefore all the children had to get out of the pool or risk being drown or bashed by overenthusiastic men flexing his muscles. One day, a small girl (approx 3) was walking around the side of the pool with his dad and was literally lifted off her feet onto the back of her head, when the ball hit her at high speed in her face. There was uproar by the pool, especially as the men, including the reps continued to play.
I was definitely return to this hotel, because we loved it, perhaps the management need to deal with these reps to prevent anymore accidents which may prevent families from returning.

Room Tip: If you request a low floor you will not be in an open plan apartment with 2 bedrooms if you are a fa...

We have recently got back from a week holiday in Fuerteventura. We stayed at the Riu ClubHotel Oliva Beach, arriving on the 23rd May 2012. We travelled as a couple as we had left the children with relatives! This was due to us celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary and we had not been on holiday for 5 years!

We arrived at lunchtime along with many others and was told to leave our passports with the reception staff and go and help ourselves to lunch and after return to collect our keys for our room. After being given rough directions to the pool snack area we finally found it and had an enjoyable lunch of pizza and salad followed by ice-cream. On our return back to reception we was given room 402 which was located in the main hotel this is something we had requested along with a sea-view. A flower was presented to me and a lollipop to my husband and our cases where brought up to our room, which was great.

When we got to our room it was very clean and presentable although very dated. A safe was located in the room free of charge, a fridge and a hairdryer in the bathroom. Our balcony had a lovely sea-view! As the room was located round the side of the hotel we could see the service area and early mornings there was a lot of noise due to this but it didn't bother us much. Within 10 mins of entering our room we had a call from reception asking if our room was ok which we confirmed it was.

Meal Times- The food served was of good quality and there was a wide range of choice although it was a little repetitive by the end of the week.

The sun loungers round the pool always had towels on them and during the 7 days we NEVER had one! So we went to the beach everyday and paid 3 euros each for a sunbed and 3 euros for a parasol.

The staff at the hotel are very friendly BUT and I know some people will make comments about this but I am only being honest and relaying my experience while staying at the hotel. The hotel does have a lot of Germans now I do not in anyway have a problem with any nationality but the staff at the hotel always offered a better service to the German people.

All in all we had a great holiday and will treasure our memories we had there celebrating our wedding anniversary.

Second time at this hotel which is a first for us as we never go to the same hotel twice.

Check in very quick. Hotel is exceptionally clean. Staff very helpful and friendly. We had ground floor annexe room which was very spacious and in a very quiet peaceful area. The patio looked out onto open grass and part of the sand dunes. No problem with the room, the beds were comfortable, the bathroom suite looked new and i can remember seeing only one tiny crack in the tiles. Okay the furniture is a bit dated but we don't really use furniture on holiday, only the bathroom and the beds. The entertainment team work so hard. We thought the shows were good but obviously its not to everyones taste. The food is wonderful. How anyone can say there is no choice I do not know. Pork, chicken, "cow", veal, and fish all served in various ways most lunch times and evenings. Are there many other meats that they could use? Maybe lamb! As well as the meats, we were offered prawns, mussels, various pasta dishes, various pizzas, and various rice dishes including one with snails. All served with various potatoes and vegetables and the most wonderful salad bar. Two different soups each night. Cheese and biscuits, Beautiful deserts and also ice cream is always on offer. For anyone who likes chips, you can get them at every meal. One lunch time we had paella and sangria round the poolside.

The beach is one of the best i have seen in europe. The sun beds can be a bit of a problem if you like to sleep in on holiday. Never a problem for us as we are used to getting up early for work and so cannot lie in if we tried. Pool very clean.

Easy to get into Correlejo. A walk along the beach, bus from top of the road or a taxi from outside the hotel. It's lovely to watch the world go by sitting by the harbour or lunch in one of the cafe's .

This is a very good value for money holiday especially if you want a nice relaxing time.
