“Bacterial stomach infection - STAY AWAY.”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 June 2014 via mobile

Unfortunately this holiday was completely ruined by a severe stomach bug that affected both my boyfriend and then myself. Due to the fact I am 17 weeks pregnant and have an auto immune disease and could not stop vomiting and having chronic diarrhoea I was sent to the hospital. I was severely dehydrated and had 3 bags of fluid, anti sickness and stomach protector intravenously. They confirmed it was a bacterial stomach infection. I am visiting A&E to get a scan to make sure the baby is okay now I am back in England. The other thing is we stayed in the annexe rooms and we did have cockroaches living with us. We worked out that they lived in the overflow system of the bath and would run in and out of that. The beach is absolutely beautiful but due to the events above the holiday has been absolutely ruined and I wouldn't recommend anybody staying here.

Our third time here. We love the beach and the quiet location. We have stayed in the hotel on a previous visit and twice in the apartments. We prefer the apartments because they are bigger but to be honest we thoroughly enjoyed both. We are beach lovers and that is the main attraction for us. When it is windy, the surf is up and the waves are great fun. The red flag was flying on the beach for the first 3 days but the lifeguards allowed people in the sea up to waist height - which was fine with plenty of waves. Then as the wind dropped on days 4 onwards the flags were green and a lot more people were in the sea. Great location for people looking for a beach holiday without a wild nightlife. No doubt, we'll be back again next year!

Excellent hotel and apartments set out on a vast expance of sands which goes on for miles, only one other hotel on the beach Tres Islands. All inclusive food and drink very good and plenty of choice, lots of serve yourself coffee, beer, wine and soft drinks points so no queing up, entertainment every night shows and singing duo's 5nights a week.If you have children they are well catered for with the riu kids club. Our accomodation was in the apartments which were very spacious for 2 adults and included a sofa and a dining table and chairs, a balcony with furniture. The apartments were cleaned 7 days a week to a high standard. There are two main dining rooms two a la carte restaraunts two swimming pools and two snack bars. Plenty of sun beds, spare ones left in stack so you helped yourself if it was busy. The town was about 3 miles from the hotel, plenty of Taxi's outside hotel or a euro 40 on the bus, plenty of shops and a small market on a Tuesday and Friday. A fabulous holiday and would love to go back again soon.

Room Tip: Rooms in apartment are more spacious than the hotel rooms and the gardens and pool by apartments sup...

Having been to this hotel in 2011 I knew what to expect and was not let down. Our previous trip we were in the apartments in the club village, this time as it was a 30th year wedding anniversary we opted to pay the extra for a sea view room in the Hotel. I emailed the hotel to ask for a high room facing the swimming pool and was not let down, I feel the other side of the hotel would have been very windy on the balcony as wind was a factor when we visited.
The room was maybe a little dated but neat and tidy. Cleaners do a great job and if there is a problem it is rectified immediately as we found out when our toilet flusher broke, we also were given a complimentary bottle of Cava for our trouble our second of the trip as they remembered our anniversary!
Food choice was brilliant with plenty different dishes, we were all inclusive so drinks were provided although waiters were always refilling water glasses at tables.
The setting is stunning with the dunes and the beach, great for walking or running off the meals.
Poolside was great, although there was people doing the old towel routine there was always spare beds.
Didn't really get involved with the shows although they looked like they were doing a sterling job if this was your scene. We tended to use the terrace bar which was quieter, there was a duo singing there a couple of nights who were good.
Overall a great holiday only negative which stops me giving five stars is the wifi which was free on our last visit but now is 5 euros a day which I feel is a regressive move nowadays, especially when all inclusive, I suppose the safe was free which was a trade off.
Thank you Oliva we will return.

Room Tip: If you are booking the hotel try to get a room on the swimming pool side we were room 620 which was...

I booked this just 5 weeks before travelling at a great price. I would give it 3* not 4, there was plenty of food to choose from, and the themed restaurants were nice, although these were still a buffet style. The nice thing was all restaurants had table cloths so didn't have a 'cafe' feel and the staff were very friendly all round the hotel.
We had a family room in the annex which was nice and spacious, but the noise from the cleaners and other holidaymakers dragging furniture was at the point of unbearable and this would be one reason I wouldn't return.
The hotel does need some TLC, some broken/cracked tiles here and there, but not enough to bother me, the pool was very clean, and we never had problem getting a sunbed, although they were reserved with towels everyday, and some people never returned to them which is really annoying to see.
Overall, it was a well needed break, and I would give it 7/10. I probably wouldn't go back.
Depends what you expect and some of the reviews are far too harsh, but give it a try.

Had an enjoyable weeks stays with my girlfriend, we had a room in annex/village part of the complex.
Room was a bit outdated, but was spotlessly cleaned each day. Had problem with ant but was dealt quickly and we were given a bottle of Champagne for our trouble.
The pool area at the annex was a bit hectic and you need to be up early to secure a good sunbed with a parasol.
Ate mainly at the annex restaurant was a bit mad at times, beware the Germans don't believe waiting their turn and very rude at times. Food was good especially the salad options. Mandarin restaurant is well worth a visit.
Bars at the main hotel are good and drinks plentiful, didn't stay to watch any night time entertainment.
Beach is absolutely stunning and the surrounding view well worth a visit on it's own.
