My husband and I have just returned from an 11 night stay, and we honestly can say that it was everything we hoped it would be. From the moment we arrived the staff made us feel that nothing was too much trouble, we had wanted a hotel room as it was our anniversary and having explained that ( we were originally put in the annex) within 3 days they gave us a beautiful hotel room with a bottle of champagne and a rose FOC.. The Annex is really the best place for families as they are larger apartments...but if you are a couple looking for a really chilled time and a quiet room, then the hotel is the best bet but you will need to book then hotel room specifically.
The hotel operates like a flawless machine... With constant cleaning, laundry ,cooking, it's a wonder to behold...fascinating, like worker ants. The abundance of beautiful food was amazing, and you never feel that you are in any way an inconvenience, the staff are there to help you in any way they can.
We only left the hotel once and that was too find the italian restaurant that we read about on this site, which was totally worth it. Its hidden away in the nearest town. ( in a courtyard).
The only negative comment I would make is the age old problem of ... SUNBEDS, or should I say parasols. Lots of sun beds but not as many parasols(just like everywhere else) so, I took the idea of "if you can't beat them, join them" and decided to get out of bed at six to claim your bed...YES I beat all the germans to it... Not bad for a red headed welsh woman., and even though it might seem a bit sad to have to do that, it makes the rest of the day totally relaxed, you can go to breakfast and chill and not have that frantic search for the bed of your choice.(you are not allowed your own brollies because of the wind).what was annoying was people claiming sun beds with their towels and then not turning up till late afternoon.. But in grand scheme of things ,these are just niggles that can be easily resolved. It was a wonderful holiday and we highly recommend it. Eat , drink and be merry for tomorrow we may fry...lol.

This was our first time on the Canary Island of Fuerteventura (we'd been to Tenerife the same time a year ago) and we fell in love! The hotel was clean, had great amenties and couldn't have been in a better location! The beach is fabulous for body-boarding as the waves are great, but be aware that up the far end of the beach is for nudists. The pool area is good, but I must say the water was freezing! We stayed all inclusive and the food was delicious and plentiful. The entertainment each night is enjoyable and there are so many different nationalities staying at Oliva Beach. The rooms are pretty average, nice enough, well used. I recommend that you go to the welcome meeting even if you are an experienced traveller (like us) as we found out about day trips to Lanzarote which are a must! And a morning of shopping in Corralejo is also great. Overall, we had an amazing stay and are already planning to return next year!

i can say firstly that the staff in all of the hotel were allways very good, helpful and friendly.
The food was good loved the mandarin restaurant.
Thats the good points
the bad points were
We paid for 4* accomodation the annexe is definately not that, rooms were cleaned as good as they could have been but the bath was so marked and scratched i would never have had a bath in it only fit for a shower, the furniture was something out of the 60,s very dated and worn. Twin beds matresses awul.We had a pool view that was the nice part.
The pool had table tops glued to the bottom to cover damaged floor. sunbeds were dirty and never cleaned and you had to put cutlery into the parasol slots to keep the parasol up,There are no lifeguards ever on duty around the pool and some kids were actually sliding down the hand rails into the pool, i know the parents should have been watching them but not all do. the bar around the annexe pool is a joke of an evening no atmosphere at all its like a cafe no nice seats to sit and relax and have a drink. You do feel a bit like the poor half being in the annexe it is very tired and worn .also thought it was bad that in the annexe you dont get beach towels.
entertainment in hotel of an evening was not very good but the team do try.
I have been to plenty of riu hotels and this im sorry to say is a very bad example of one

My partner and I spent our first holiday together here and had a really nice time. Although you don't need to leave the hotel. Don't bother with excursions except the submarine as the rest are overrated. Save your money and go on the Three wheel motortrikes with Cool Runnings, that was excellent and made our holiday, you get to see the whole island. The entertainment was fair at times but at other times was really good. The staff try really hard and it must be difficult with dealing with 5 different languages. The restaurant staff are really friendly and although we don't yet have children we would have no hesitation bringing kids here as the kids were really well looked after. Food was good but not 5 star, have no illusions though there is plenty of choice for the non-fussy eater and we both enjoyed three good cooked meals a day. Bar staff although they got it wrong occasionally it didn't matter as the drinks were included. The garden apartments we both preferred to the main hotel, although they were to be fair a little tired and could do with a bit of work, this wasn't a problem. The apartment pool, bar and restaurant had a better atmosphere, so don't bother with the sea view. If you are lucky enough to get a room facing the apartment then you'll enjoy it.

Just got back from a week at the Oliva Beach Hotel. We'd never been on an all inclusive holiday before and I was a bit worried about some of the poor reviews of this hotel. I picked it because of its location - its right in the centre of the sand dunes. The beach is gorgeous - pale white sand that goes on for miles and turquoise sea. The location could not be beaten. The hotel is a bit dated, a bit shabby in places and the decor stuck in the 1980s, but it is spotlessly clean. We were in the main hotel rather than the annex and the room was fine and the bathroom spotless. The rooms are cleaned every day and you get clean towels daily. Swimming pool is great. The beer is awful but the wine is ok and the cocktails are nice. The measures of spirits are very generous. The food isn't brilliant but there is plenty of it. I'm a vegetarian and the salads are great but there isn't much choice of hot food - cheese and tomato pizza, macaroni cheese, Spanish omelette, stir fried veg. Ice cream and cakes are nice. It was fine for a week - you'd be sick of it after a fortnight. Corralejo is a short taxi or bus ride away. Its not a huge place but has shops and a fair choice of bars and restaurants. The town beach is quite nice and the sea is calmer there. We went on a quad safari through the volcanos and dunes and this was the best excursion we've ever done - excellent fun. Also did island tour - went to aloe vera factory which was interesting, a goat's cheese farm, Betancuria (pretty former capital) etc. This was an excellent beach holiday. Would recommend the hotel for its fab location but possibly not for the food.

This hotel was on an absolutely beautiful location, set right on the beach, only a minutes walk to the sea. The sea was as lovely as the Carribean, crystal clear warm water with fish swimming in between your legs. There were Camels on the beach that you could ride- 6 Euros per person, for 15 minutes walk. However to our disapointment the beach was not the hotels, and you have to pay 9 euros if you want two sun loungers and a parasol. Also another downside is that you cannot take any food onto the beach from the hotel- there is a security guard that watches.

The food was very good, a lot of variety for everyone, steak, fish, lots of pork, vegetables, salads, chips etc- alot of German Cuisine!! The snack bar by the pool was very good, if you like things like hot dogs, pizza, chips etc. Some of the food was labelled in every other language other than english, i.e there was many different types of fish but it would jus simply say 'fish' for every other language it explained.
Drinks were also really good, lots of help yourselves, and the waiters are really helpful and fast. There are two bars that are open till 2am, one is on the terrace above the pool and the other in the 'Disco'- its big and on the bottom floor but hardly anyone goes there.

The entertainment in this hotel was Laughable and Painful. The stage is set up really badly and all the chairs are in rows, with no tables. The Germans fill this area up very well and rush to get to the front row. They get very involved, but the entertainment looses its edge as it is done in three different languages. The entertainment is very poor and we just ended up laughing at them but not with them.

There is entertainment by the pools- volleyball, water polo, shuffleboard- but I dont know how you can call the shuffleboard entertainment.

The hotel room was perfect for two, not very modern, but sort of like an old english hotel room. It was very clean and the cleaners changed your towels everyday. In the hotel the rooms have beautiful see views- we didnt even bother to going over to the annex. You can get bottles of water from the hotel, and put them in your mini fridge. The shower was lovely too, very powerful. You get free towels which you get from the pool and you can exchange them for fresh ones in the morning- be careful though because they all look the same and some couple sitting next to us had some old ladies come over to take their towels back, they thought they had nicked them haha!

It was absolutely beautiful and I would love to see the beach and sand dunes again, but the entertainment didnt do it for us unfortunately!
