“Excellent Hotel”

Just back from another week at the Arena, had a lovely time, the hotel was just as good as last time and the soft drinks machine had been changed and the drinks were far better than last year. Food was always good and I am a fussy eater but there was always something I liked. Cooked breakfast was great.
Room on the sunnyside was nice, beds firm and comfortable, cleaned every day and towels changed.
Would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a relaxing break.

Room Tip: Sunny side 301 to 311

We originally booked to stay in a promo studio at the playa park, when we arrived we were told that there had been a double booking and would we stay at the sister hotel Arena, they would upgrade us to a suite with free in room wi-fi free safe, tea and coffee in room free safe. We went and had a look the rooms were great with there own terrace at the side of the pool, and reclining chairs, the hotel said we could also use the playa park facilities and eat there if we wanted to. This happens quite often after talking to other guests. The rooms were excellent tv, fridge, safe, sitting area cleaned every day plenty of shampoo etc and a hairdryer. The food was of a good standard, english breakfast , continental, cereals, fruit and the coffee was great. There was poolside snacks toasties burgers, the lunch and evening meals were good the soups were excellent, different pasta fish and meat every night three choices of potatoes, meat freshly cooked at counter. Sweets were same and abit bland. Entertainment was not up to much an underground showbar dark and dingy. Shows were also poor, parrots flamenco, singers, reptile show, drinks were ok, have to say the staff were excellent always smiling very helpful nothing was too much trouble for them best staff I have encountered in a hotel, overall a decent hotel that I would return to, 25 min walk to town centre or 4 euro in taxi .

Room Tip: Ask for a poolside suite sunny all day

We returned last week from a ten day holiday staying at the Arena. On arrival we were told the hotel was fully booked and we would have to spend a night in a sister hotel on the main strip but was assured for our inconvenience we would be upgraded to a suite on the sunny side of the hotel the next morning. The receptionist was very apologetic and promised to book a taxi to the Brismar (sister hotel) on the main strip when we were ready to leave.
The hotel is constantly being cleaned and is a good three star in my opinion, the food is plentiful and always a good choice of options. The thing that stands out from the many all-inclusive holidays we have had are the hotel staff, they are always happy and smiling nothing is too much trouble, if only many other all-inclusive hotels could model their staff on the Arenas. The location is very good placed within a residential area and very quite, but only a 15 minute walk to the main strip or a short taxi drive around 3.80 euro, once on the main strip you have the choice of many bars and restraunts shops etc. We visited El-Torro a steak restraunt which I can highly recommend the T bone steak was fantastic and huge, also if you like a curry Faz`s indian restraunt on the front near the Fred Olsen dock was also really nice. The resort is priced very well a pint costing between 1 euro up to 3.50 euro depending on the bar, food is reasonable also. We will be returning to this hotel the weather was good to us only one bad day out of ten, we hope this review helps with your decision.

Room Tip: 403 suite large and takes the sun most of the day.

Arrived back yesterday after a seven day break at this hotel. Rather dissapointed with hotel, it deffinately does not deserve the 4 star rating it has. The hotel staff are lovely and I think this accounts for its favourable reviews, as far as the rooms are concened they really do need a refurb but to be fair to the staff they are cleaned daily. The sheets however were only changed once during our stay and towels on request. The restaurant is very dark and basic and the food is in my opinion not great in choice or taste the soft drinks are as has been said before very cheap brands as are the spirits. The grounds and pool area are kept neat and tidy and the main bar always has something going on in the evening if you like that sort of thing. On a good note this hotel did have a friendly atmosphere and it was very easy to mix with people and make new friends. Ramona the entertainments staff is a great girl and got people involved in the daily activities. Some nice bars and restaurants in the town and along the beach if you fancy the walk but only four euros in a taxi if you don't. We ate out quite a lot and drank in a few bars along the way Talk of the Town has a great atmosphere and the Torre Steak House does a lovely steak. Would not return mainly to poor food and drink. Our holiday was enjoyable but I thik that was down to the lovely Geordie family who made us feel part of their family and gave a some great laughs. You know who you are!

Room Tip: Ask for a sunny room 503 side or it's very dark allday on the other side.

We have just returned from our stay in Corralejo at the Hotel Arena, which is a very good hotel and makes for a lovely holiday.

The only negative I feel the need to mention are the rooms on the shaded side of the pool. We had no sun on our balcony all day, This did spoil the holiday a little as it was very windy some days which prevented us (but not everyone) from sunbathing around the pool. A balcony with sun would probably have given a little shelter still allowing us to achieve the tans we wanted. Also the room was a little cold at night, so the blankets were well used. On our return I realised other people had asked to move as soon as they were allocated a room on this side of the pool (they are the ones to the right of the restaurant as you look at it). I wish now that we had done the same but being English, we tend not to complain and regret it afterwards. Never mind!

Despite the somewhat windy and shady week it was very relaxing. The whole site was very clean and when we did want to lay by the pool there was always a sun bed and even the unheated pool was warm enough to swim in. The food was good for all inclusive (certainly had worse). My partner was introduced to mojo sauce (it's orange and always near what look like mini jacket potatoes). I hope we can buy more of online because she loves it so much. I especially enjoyed the ice tea which I've never seen on an all inclusive before. Other than this the soft drinks weren't great but the beer, wine and spirits were fine. Drinks are self service apart from the evenings when Mario serves at the bar. He's great! Always very attentive and more often than not he had our drink ready before we'd asked for it. One night we hardly went to the bar as fresh drinks were on the table before we even stood up (the next morning I had a headache Mario, obrigado ;-)

We went to watch the entertainment almost every night which is not usual for us but Ramona the entertainment queen was so friendly, flirty and fun we couldn't resist her, děkuji ;-) She runs activities throughout the day too. Although we never took part in "stretching" each morning, the music was welcomed as it is so relaxing. I was impressed by how well Ramona was able to tame a large group of French residents. They were loud but so much fun and the holiday wouldn't have been the same without them, Merci ;-)

Outside of the hotel I would definitely recommend the 4.5 hr quad or buggy experience. It seems expensive but is well worth the money. We booked ours from one of the spots on the main strip and had no problems. We were picked up on time at 0950hrs and weren't dropped off again until 1600hrs. None of the transfer or admin time is taken out from the 4.5 hours you're in a buggy exploring the beautiful surroundings. There was one family on the trip making a nuisance of themselves so they were taken out from the trip at an allotted break point and collected in a mini bus so they couldn't spoil it for other people. Very professionally run!

Oh, I forgot Al. He's the lovely man in the restaurant. Always very welcoming, as are all of the staff at the Hotel. We are betting on a horse (Alvarado) in the Grand National today with fond memories. Gracias, Al.

Room Tip: Try not to get the rooms to the right when facing the restaurant. In the shade all day.

My wife and I have just returned from a weeks stay at the Hotel Arena.

The transfer from the Airport to the Hotel was a disaster, over 3 hours with ResortHoppa, Never again! (but this isn't the Hotels fault). By comparison, we took a Taxi (at a cost of 40 euro's) back to the Airport & this took less than 30 minutes. Speaking to the Reception Staff, the 3 hour + transfer to the Hotel is not uncommon.

The reception staff at the Hotel are all friendly and very helpful.

Our room was on the third floor in block 2 overlooking the Pool. The sun was on the balcony from around 7am to around 4pm. The bedrooms had two single beds pushed together, double wardrobes with a safe inside and a dressing table with a TV on top. There was a small fridge in the left of the dressing table. The sliding doors opened to a large tiled balcony area and had a plastic table and 2 plastic chairs and a wall mounted clothes airer.

The bathroom was modern and spacious and had a shower over the bath. Very clean and no smell of damp. There is a hairdryer. The water pressure in the shower was great, the water temperature was stable. The beds are hard, but that didn’t bother either of us. We slept very well. There was air con in the room. You get the remote's for the TV and the air con from reception for which there is a refundable 10 euro charge.

The safe in the room is 2 euro's per night with a refundable 12 euro deposit for the key.

The maid service was excellent. Towels changed everyday and the rooms always left spotlessly clean and fresh.

All the corridors and communal areas were very clean.

There was 3 pool's, one of which was for kids. The main pool had a jacuzzi built in. The pool area was mopped down every morning by a small army of maids and was left spotless. No loose or broken tiles that we could see. The Pool bar was a self service one. Beer, red & white wine, sangria and soft drinks all on tap. There was a member of staff always behind the Pool bar if you wanted spirits, cocktails or hot food. The usual reserving of sunbeds with towels go’s on and even at the time of the year we went there were some days when there was none available.

Hotel pool towels available. Refundable 10 euro deposit per towel then 2 euro's every towel change.

We had the all inclusive option. Breakfast was buffet style, the usual cereals hot and cold mix. Lunch and Evening meals were buffet style, with plenty of choice for everyone. We never had a problem at any meal time getting something we liked. I find it incredible that anyone can complain about the food. But, like the saying goes, you can't please everyone all the time! Themed nights around 3 nights a week. Again the drinks were self service as per the Pool bar. A special mention to Alvero in the Restaurant.

No bottled water and no Cava available

Free Wi-Fi was available in the reception area. Wi-Fi available in your room for 6 euro's a day or 15 euro's a week.

There is a lovely walk along the beach right into the centre of Corralejo. Ask at Reception and they will give you directions.

A great place to stay for a relaxing week – highly recommended!

We would want to give the Hotel 4½ stars. So 4 it is.

Room Tip: Block 1 - Sun all day, but rooms VERY hot. Block 2 - Sun till around 4pm. Block 3 - No sun but rooms...

Very clean hotel , staff are a strength.
Entertainment was poor in the week we stayed.
Food was good for a 3 star hotel, with lots of choice at the buffet restaurant . Local spirits and soft drinks in the inclusive offer were very poor . The beer was good and the local wine /sangria was adequate.
Our bathroom was tired with damaged bath fittings. The furniture in the room was simple but adequate.
Expect to pay for WiFi and deposits for TV remote and other items(although not much to watch on old TV set). I don't expect to pay for these items these days .
The position of hotel is good being a 5 min walk to beach, and 15 mins to town / harbour area .
Do catch the bus to El Cotillo and have great fish dinner (at blue cow restaurant) , hire bikes and take the ferry to Islas Los Lobos and its
volcano.
Can get very hot! Be prepared .
