“Perfect holiday hotel”
Reviewed 9 March 2012

We have just returned after 10 days and it was a beautiful hotel. Friendly staff, clean rooms, excellent food. We would definitely return. We were lucky because the weather was good the whole time we were there, although a bit windy some days. The situation of the lovely pools have obviously been designed to keep the wind away. The spa was also first class. If you visit this hotel make sure you take warm jumpers for the evening this time of the year. Apart from that everything was perfect.

Room Tip: Sea rooms very private, but the rooms overlooking the pool also looked good. All easily accessible t...

If you dream of a sun filled balcony where you can sit and look over an azure sea then this is not the hotel for you. The sea view rooms face north and get virtually no sun at all. Further the junior suites are on the ground floor and the view is partially obstructed by a wall. We downgraded to a double to get an open view.
There is a deserted building site opposite the hotel, ugly, but not a problem at the moment but if and when it comes back to life the hotel will be noisy and dusty
All this is offset by the charming and helpful staff and the excellent cuisine

Dear Guest,

We wish to thank you for your feedback on Tripadvisor regarding your recent stay with us.

It is nice to hear that you enjoyed your holidays at the Gran Hotel Atlantis Bahía Real and especially relished our excellent cuisine. Your kind words will also be passed on to our staff, as they serve as a great motivation. Moreover, it is a delight to read that your request, regarding your room, was resolved in a fast and satisfying way.

We were greeted at the door by a charming employee who took our bags and got us a glass of water although we could have had champagne(started the week with good intentions!) Had side seaview room with good views to harbour and Los Lobos, sheltered no sun.Pool area very picturesque and the one heated pool was warm large and usually empty.Small area on beach with sunbeds with lovely view but not a bathing beach. For this you need to walk a mile or so along to the dunes but copious jellyfish put us off dipping more than a toe. We spent 20 euros on a wireless router for the week which worked well and I feel was reasonable value considering what some hotels charge. If you have a pc you can access Internet free via Ethernet . Gym is well equipped with treadmills, crosstrainer, bikes, rower and substantial number of weights machines.Spa was a laugh-big pool with lots of different whirlpools and jets and everyone has to wear a shower cap so if you are fashion conscious I suggest bringing one of your own.Breakfast was a cornucopia of delights. The coffee wasn't the best but did the job. The food variety and quality was fantastic. What's not to like about profiterolles for breakfast! We ate out every night. Pleasant 30 minute walk in and then 4 euro taxi including tip back. Suggest Agua bar for cocktails-lovely staff .

Thank you very much for your review published on Tripadvisor.

We are pleased to read that you and your family had a wonderful stay at the Gran Hotel Atlantis Bahía Real and that we were able to provide you with our best service.

Furthermore, it is a delight that you enjoyed our gastronomy and in particular appreciated the variety and quality of our breakfast buffet. We are glad, that our Spa Bahía Vital and the gym lived up to your expectations.

Referring to the beach, we would like to let you know that our hotel provides a daily free shuttle to the national park “Sand Dunes of Corralejo” where you can find one of the most beautiful beaches with white sand and crystal clear waters. Again, we wish to thank you for your feedback and it would be a pleasure to welcome you and your family back on Fuerteventura.

Our party stayed for 7 nights in early February. The weather was dry but cool - we could only sunbathe comfortably on 1 day - the other days we were wrapped up or inside! We needed to wear thick jumpers or coats when out in the evenings. We'd heard Fuerteventura was windy but had hoped for more warmth. At least we avoided the snow back home!
The hotel is very nice but we had a few issues which spoilt our overall impression. Our party comprised of my father, brother, son and myself so we had booked 2 adjoining twin rooms. On arrival, the rooms had been made up as doubles, necessitating a wait while staff re-arranged the rooms and re-made the beds.
Being British, we like to have tea/coffee making facilities in our rooms. This was particularly important to my elderly father, who wakes early. Although not provided as standard, this was happily brought on request. However it was not replenished each day, as it would be even in a budget B&B hotel in the UK, which surprised us. We had to resort to 'collecting' sachets of tea/coffee/sugar from the buffet restaurant. The initial tray had a good selection of teas/coffee but only 2 tiny milk sachets - barely enough for one cup each. We requested more milk from the chambermaids and were then given a small jugful, which lasted a few days. The next time we requested more milk, by telephone to reception, a jug was brought to us but charged as room service at 3.68 euros! Such a trifling thing but which left a mean impression. For the price we'd paid for our stay, we would have expected this to be included. I did query this but was simply told it was room service, so we had to pay. I'd recommend taking your own tea/coffee and buying milk locally in future.
We also agree with one of the other reviewers who queried the necessity of having cards to obtain pool towels each day. The towels aren't so great as to be considered such a security risk! We were also surprised that the sun bed cushions were not collected up by staff every evening. As there are many birds in the trees around the pool, this meant that many cushions were frequently spoiled by bird mess. As we had to fetch our own cushions from the stacks, this meant lots of lifting to find clean ones. Again, a small matter, but one which spoilt our impression. In other 5* hotels/resorts I have visited, staff have always made sure the pool area was tidied and left ready for the next morning.
In general the staff were very friendly - particularly the chambermaids and the welcoming staff in the buffet restaurant.
I had a relaxation massage in the spa but wasn't particularly impressed, so didn't repeat the experience, although it had been my original intention to treat myself several times. Luckily it was during a 20% off promotion period, so I decided not to complain at the time.
We ate in at the La Alacena on 3 evenings and were impressed with the choice and quality of the food. Similarly, the breakfast buffet provided all the choice we could ask for. On the remaining evenings we ventured into Corralejo (a cheap taxi ride away) and ended up returning to El Toro Bravo on 3 occasions as we found their food to be excellent, although the service was occasionally slow - it was very busy every evening after 7pm.
We did not try the other restaurants in the hotel - they were not open every evening (perhaps due to low season) and looked rather soul-less when they were open. Again - probably due to low season and lack of hotel guests.
Apart from the ugly building site opposite, the surrounding roads were generally clean and felt safe when we chose to walk.
Perhaps if the weather had been warmer, these matters would not have irritated so much.
I don't think we'll return to this hotel. Although it was quite nice, I have stayed in much better.

Room Tip: We had rooms with nice sea views but agree with other reviewers that a pool-view room would have bee...

Visited February, and whilst the weather wasn't at it's best, we had a wonderful holiday, due to the quality of the hotel.
In my mid sixties, I have travelled quite extensively, and found the service at this hotel second to none. I cannot recommend the Gran Hotel Atlantis Bahia Real highly enough.

Stayed here in this lovely hotel recentely for 3 nights with my partner.
You know his hotel really does deserve some credit. Nice rooms (we stayed in a Jnr Suite) lovely view out onto the ocean.
The food was also very nice, we booked the half board option and ate the buffet food every night, very pleasant. Great selection at breakfast too
Nice equipment in the gym. The Spa area was very nice and also very big, however we did not have any of the treatments, as with most 5* hotels they are way over priced.
First time for us on Fuerteventura, we live on Gran Canaria, my god was it windy! Very windy, witch was a bit of a shame but did not spoil our stay here...The hotel is about 25 mins walk away from the Fishing town of Corralejo, well worth a visit, very pretty.... We also took the ferry for a very short trip to Lanzarote, only 30 mins away, and stayed for 3 hours, perfect!
We can recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to spend their holiday here in Fuerteventura, the staff also are very helpful and nice.....
