“Brilliant holiday”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 March 2013

Just back from two weeks, self catering, at Playa Park. On arrival we found the reception staff efficient, nice and friendly. We were accommodated in one of the ground floor apartments just behind the children's play area. The apartment was spotless, one of the best we have ever been in. More than ample space in the living area with huge sofa bed, large easy chair, lovely glass table, four dining chairs, and two cabinets with plenty of cupboard space. Kitchen off the living area was equipped with the essentials, including microwave. We cooked two meals and all our breakfasts during the two week stay. There was a small washing line/drying area outside the kitchen area. Bathroom was adequate with towels being changed on a 2-3 day basis. Bedroom was pleasant with ample wardrobe space and a Safe (10 euros per week). The apartment was cleaned and rubbish removed, more or less on a daily basis, with bedding being changed every 3 days. The staff we had dealings with, were all friendly and helpful. The grounds at Playa Park are beautiful and are kept immaculate. There is plenty of shade provided by trees and parasols and if you are lucky you will see the beautiful green parrots flying around. They eat nuts from your hand, if you are patient. We understand Playa Park was full during our stay, but it did not feel overly busy. We spent most days relaxing around the lovely pool areas - small children's pool; a larger pool with water shoot; a much bigger, deeper pool for the swimmers. There is also a Jacuzzi. Plenty of activities - water aerobics; yoga; football; darts; pool; giant chess board etc. all available. Though we were self catering, on three nights we decided to eat in the Hotel Buffet. The charge is 10 euros per person. Seems to be routine of International Food alternated by Italian, Asian; Spanish; Mexican. We were very impressed both by the cleanliness of the very modern dining area; the freshness and choice of foods on offer, together with either beer; white or red wine, tea and coffee. On our last day we had breakfast in the Hotel. Again the food on offer was excellent with plenty of choices. Quite a number of times we ate lunch in the pool bar, there is not a vast selection but enough to suit most people having a midday snack. What was provided was more than ample. We found staff in the pool bar and restaurant all very nice, friendly and helpful. Playa Park is minutes away from the Campanario Shopping Centre where there is a large Dino supermarket. Walking into town takes about 15-20 mins. All of the above certainly ensured we had a brilliant holiday in Corralejo.

I booked this hotel because it was cheap and had plenty of good reviews on Tripadvisor. I was not disappointed. We had a self-catering apartment, which was spotlessly clean, spacious and amazingly enough, had three balconies! The kitchen had the bare minimum of cooking utensils but as I had no intentions of doing any serious cooking, this was not an issue. The kitchen had an electric cooker, microwave, toaster, kettle, and a fridge with small freezer compartment. The bathroom was very modern with a very powerful and hot shower, which was lovely. The bedroom had two single beds pushed together and we did find the apartment got very cold at night but there were plenty of spare blankets. There was a TV in the apartment but the signal was poor and the only English-speaking channel you receive is CNBC unless you pay extra (can't remember how much this was) and then you get several news channels and Sky1.

It was very quiet and not being a particularly early-riser, I really appreciated not being awoken in the early hours as I generally am in hotels by cleaners or guests banging about.

The pool area was lovely and the pool was very clean. There was an aqua exercise class held at 12pm every day which I found highly entertaining to watch, but had no inclination to join in with something so energetic. The pool bar served lovely fruit smoothies but I never ate there so cannot comment on the food.

The bar staff were friendly and polite and the drinks were incredibly cheap, only 2 euros for a large beer and only 6 euros for a bottle of wine! The night entertainment I would describe as watered-down international. It must be hard-work to entertain people of so many ages and nationalities but it was also hard-work to watch. Thankfully the town centre is only a ten-minute walk away and there were plenty of bars there showing excellent live music. I would recommend Rock Cafe, Rock Island Bar and McCarthys bar if you like live music.

There is a really good shopping centre called El Campanero, which looks brand-new, just around the corner from the hotel with a large, cheap supermarket. Make sure you climb uo the bell-tower for great views of the whole of Corralejo. There is also a small British shop across the road from the shopping centre if you're struggling to make head-or-tail of the Spanish food labels, although the prices are much higher in there and you probably won't find everything you want.

The beach is a bit of a trek from the hotel so if you want easy access to it, then there are other hotels that are situated right on the beach, although I presume the prices will be much higher! There is a red bus stop just around the corner from the hotel, where you can catch the bus to Grandas Playas, which are the best beaches in Corralejo. (Catch the bus which goes to Puerto del Rosario, I think it's the no. 6, and get off at the Riu hotels just on the outskirts of Corralejo.) If you enjoy walking, make sure you go off into the Parque Nationale de Corralejo, which is miles and miles of beautiful sand dunes.

Room Tip: All the first-floor self-catering apartments have balconies both front and back, so if you like priv...

Use this complex a number of times for overnight stays. Seems to be moving to an all-inclusive complex now, but we book on a room only basis and this does not seem to be a problem

Cheap, cheerful and bags of hot sunshine round the pool for free !

Just returned from a weeks holiday at Playa Park. This was our first visit to the hotel and we were pleasantly surprised by the standard of accommodation. The one bedroom apartment was spacious with lounge, separate kitchen and bedroom. Reception staff were very helpful in meeting our needs. We stayed on a self catering basis so am unable to comment on the standard of the restaurants. The hotel was ideally located for our needs with a 15 minute walk into town and a 15/20 minute walk to the sand dune beaches. Would I stay at this hotel again - yes.

Room Tip: Room 220 was ideally located to get the afternoon sunshine on the balcony.

A big warning to anybody thinking of booking this hotel, you may be very disappointed as you will be very lucky to actually get to stay there. I think Ihave worked out how this con works. The hotel accepts any booking weather or not they can accommodate the guests. When you arrive they say that thier computer system is down and that this has caused the problem. Then comes the apology and the do not worry we have a room at our sister hotel the Arena which is a 4 star and in thier opinion a superior hotel. In other words this sister hotel is not as popular therefore we will use this little ruse to actually get business to this hotel. I think that the tour opraters who promote this chain should look into thier underhand dealings and clamp down on it immediately. We fell foul of this blatant con as did at least ten other couples that we knew of who ended up at the Arena with us. Absolutely furiuos as we had been looking forward to staying at Playa Park.

We have just returned from a week at Playa Park (Feb 13) and felt it was good enough to write this review. It's location is good, about 10 - 15 minutes walk from the centre of town with plenty of choice for bars and restaurants. We were self catering so had the option of eating in or out. We had evening meals at the park 3 times and the food was very good with a wide selection for only 10 euros per person including beer and red wine..as much as you want. The facilities and accommodation was very well appointed and very clean. Staff were helpful and friendly. The only negative was that the entertainment was a bit basic but would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Ground floor apartments were best.
