Have just returned from the Oasis Papagayo. Travelled with my husband and 2 of our friends for 11 nights on the 26th April. We stayed in 2 apartments on a self catering basis and had fantastic views overlooking the main pool. This was my first visit to the island but our friends have been coming here for the past 10 years and have stayed at the Papagayo several times and assured us we would love it. They were right. What a great place to stay. The complex is massive and has lovely walk ways all the way around. I have never seen so many palm trees dotted about at one hotel. The setting is really lovely and it seems a lot of thought has gone into planning the layout. There were loads of sunbeds so you never had to worry about trying to find one. I can't comment on the food as we didn't eat here but we had some drinks in the club bar and the pool bar and they were very reasonably priced. The weather was great. Mostly sunny every day and nice and hot. Bit cool at night for me but all I needed was a little cardigan. All the staff we met were friendly and smiley. If we needed anything they were more than happy to help. The pool was too cold for me but loads of other people didn't seem to think it was as there was always someone in there. I have got to give a special mention to Viktor, the hotels entertainer. He was amazing and made us laugh so much. We played darts in the mornings and my hubby became known as the 'Dream Team' thanks to a guy from Germany called Oovey. And my friend Geoff was called Goff all the time we were due to Viktors funny lack of English names. A word of warning...... if you lose at darts you are made to dance on the stage next to the pool. So funny though. He even has costumes to make you look ever sillier!!! I found that after having to dance up there twice my darting skills improved loads as I tried harder not to lose. We will forever remember Viktor on the microphone rounding us all up for darts, bowls and water polo shouting out 'oooht oooht'. The new Sunny animation team have just started out at the hotel and Alex seemed really nice. The hotel is around a 10 minute walk to the first shop on the main strip. Then a further 10 minute walk to the centre of town. Its quite a long walk. And we weren't walking slow at that. The taxis are around 4 Euros either way and you can order one at reception. Try out some Spanish. The receptionists and everyone else in the resort really appreciate you trying. There are loads of lovey pubs and restaurants in town. El Toro Bravo steak house on the main strip is worth a visit. My hubby had the biggest T bone steak he has ever seen there. Also Las Cicciopizza does the most amazing pizzas we have ever had. Its just down the road from the hotel opposite Casper's pub. There is a lovely supermarket called Super Dino - its at the Campanario shopping centre and you will find everything you need at very reasonable prices and there is a taxi rank next door. The supermarket also delivers if you spend over a certain amount. So to sum up our holiday we had a fantastic time and we loved the Oasis Papgayo. We will definitely book again and wouldn't hesitate to recommended you go here. Can't wait to return
