We booked a last minute week in The Dunas Club through Thomas Cook, and before leaving I read lots of the reviews here and wasn't totally sure what to expect. I read all the room tips and emailed the hotel requesting a pool view, they responded saying none were available and we had been allocated a side view. I was a little worried about this after reading some reviews, but needn't have been.
On arrival we were dealt with very efficiently at reception and made our way to our room. We had booked a studio and when we entered the room it was as expected. We had a balcony which overlooked a side street and we could also see the sea. Our room number was 128, there was no air con, but we didn't need this anyway, there was a fan in the wardrobe, but again not needed. There was also a safe in the wardrobe, but you had to pay extra for this and we did not bother, we felt quite secure and locked our valuables in our suitcase.
The room and the hotel were fine, considering we paid just of £100 per night which included flights it was very good value for money. If you want a swish hotel, then you have to pay for it. We were not intending to spend much time in our room, only really used it to sleep and change.
The room was clean and had two large single beds, there was a large mirrored wardrobe which was adequate for our clothes and there were plenty of hangers too. The bathroom was a little dark and maybe in need of a little tlc, but as I said earlier you get what you pay for.
There was a hairdrier in the bathroom attached to the wall and this was fine, it got very hot and I managed perfectly well with it. Our room was serviced every other day.
The pool area was pleasant too, there were plenty of sunbeds and although we did not spend a lot of time at the pool there was no issue with finding somewhere to sit.
We preferred to go out and about to the beach and on other excursions, there were some people who seemed to just lay on the same sun bed every day!
You do have to pay for wi-fi and like other people have said I would suggest you don't do this, it is free in most of the bars and restaurants and once you have logged on once a slow walk past allows you to pick up emails etc. I was able to use my UK tariff with Vodaphone for just £3 per day and this was very worthwhile.
We did a day trip to Lanzarote which we booked through the hotel and it was a really good day out. We also went on a bike tour with EEE bikes, electric assisted cycles with a guide up to the volcano, this was excellent.
We did not eat an evening meal in La Luna but did have breakfast there one morning, and the portions were very generous. The pool bar area is also very good and we preferred to have a coffee and a croissant there instead. The hotel is in walking distance of everywhere, and there are some lovely bars and restaurants. We loved the Mojita Bar looking out to sea and had to order a litre of mojita!
If you are looking for good value accommodation then I would recommend Dunas Club, if you are looking for 5* accommodation then don't go there, remember you get what you pay for.
We did have a delay returning and ended up being put up in a hotel near the airport, some people were complaining, but there was a fault with the plane, and if the plane isn't there then what can you do!
All in all we had a lovely weeks break and I would definately return to both Corralejo and Dunas Club.
