I sometimes feel a bit guilty about travelling to a foreign destination and seeking out "British food" - but actually we rarely get a cooked breakfast at home, and our trip for Tapas was closer to our diet these days.
So, breakfast is a treat - and An Caisteal does it brilliantly. Our first visit was my Husbands birthday - so it came washed down with a large single malt. The potato scone was gorgeous and breakfast perfect.
We have had snacks there a couple of times, then arranged for a steak pie - they need 24 hours notice because everything is home made. It was delicious & worth it. It led to my husband reminding me I never make steak pie for him anymore (too busy cooking Tapas apparently) - but marital discord was promptly eased by a friendly chat about whisky & a dram or two.
They really do have a great selection and all the whisky producing regions are represented (unless you include the Campbells apparently). It's in a quiet spot - expect no rowdy karaoke etc but it is friendly and welcoming. The ladies loo is even stocked with a selection of hand cream, foot cream, aftersun - you name it.
Next time we venture to Fuerteventura we will definitely seek out some Scottish Hospitality.
