“Exactly What We Expected - No Surprises”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 May 2011

We booked into the Hesperia Bristol Playa for 10 days in May and felt the apartments were exactly in line with what we have read here on Tripadvisor. Great value for money and upgrading to a sea view room did make all the difference in the world. We were in room 270 and had a nice view of the sea and learned very quickly how much sand the wind kindly delivers to your floor if your door is left open for any length of time. The staff were always very pleasant and would always sort any issues out in a timely manner. If you have spent any length of time in Spain you will know that doing things in a 'timely manner' is not their speciality so to have that level of service was a real treat. The pool area was brilliant and the on site supermarket an absolute gem.

After reading the other reviews I was worried about grabbing a sun lounger that wouldn't require me to undergo back surgery upon my return....after much investigation, I learned that there is a trick to this process. You have to dig around a bit as some of the loungers have been repaired and are often stacked BEHIND the ones that are closer to the pool. You're welcome poolside peeps!

We found that most of the restaurants sold very similar meals and after the 4th day could not face another uncooked burger or pizza. It's amazing how creative one can get with only a hob and a microwave. We became very good at making pasta and my personal favourite, homemade fajitas. Mojo Rojo spice also highly recommended.

Overall, a nice quiet place and good value for money. Would we return? Undecided. If you do happen to stay in our room, do me a favour and please feed the two birds that I psuedo adopted that appear on the balcony late morning and early evening. Their names are Eugene and Henrietta.....they like Doritos best but like me, are unsure about the normal bread.

Enjoy!

Looking through some of the reviews before i went to this hotel i wasn't expecting much but myself and the 3 friends i went here with completely loved it. Its not the kind of hotel you would spend a whole week in but it is perfect to come back and forward to after having days out. We met some great people at the holiday. The staff are very friendly and are really sweet! The resort of Corralejo is great, there is a lot of night life, its normally from around 11pm - 6am. We always ended up in Flicks and Waikiki. The only problem i had with the hotel was uncomfy sun loungers but apart from that i think it was a good hotel, great value for money! Beautiful surroundings and scenery in the hotel! completely loved it! Had an amazing holiday! would defiantly return!

The hotel itself overall was what I expected for a budget holiday. The location is a 15 minute walk from the centre of Corralejo, and it may be worth asking the hotel for a map when you first venture out, as we struggled finding the centre the first time and ended up in the back streets!
The pool in the hotel is lovely, one heated and one cold, both sea water. The sun loungers are very uncomfortable, I hired a cushion from the supermarket in the hotel for 2.50 e a day (and 10 e deposit a day) which made all the difference. The supermarket at the hotel is just as cheap as the one's in town, so don't lug all your shopping back!
The maids in the hotel were very slack and the beds were uncomfortable, but like I say what we expected for the price. Very basic rooms we had to ask for several things such as bowls, and had to ask for the hob to be repaired as it did not work when we arrived.

Correlajo itself is lovely, but really needs to be explored on the first day, we found lots of restaurants / bars and becahes on our last days! The boat trip to Lanzarote is well worth it, but make sure you get up early for the first boat of the day as they don't run too often. There are lots of lovely restaurants in Corralejo, all reasonably priced.
Some bars can be pricey, we enjoyed Flicks bar and McCarthy's Irish pub which had a great singer / guitarist called Damian in every night, and was great for a relaxing evening. Waikiki bar is open till 6am and is a restaurant and bar in the day, and turns into a bar / club at night.
The becahes are scattered all along Corralejo, and are sandy. The waether was fantastic, so overall a lovely relaxing holiday!

Stayed at this hotel during first week of Easter hols so expected it to be very busy. This was not the case and we ended up having a relaxing, peaceful and pleasant stay here on the whole. Prior to travelling I also read the reviews and was very apprehensive and my expectations were low before arrival. Yes, the apartments do need a bit of TLC especially exterior doors, walls and interior furniture but on the whole we found our room to be clean and insect free! However,we did upgrade upon arrival though as our first apartment on ground floor was in a very poor location- we paid an extra 70 euros and it was truly money well spent! Our sea view was well worth the extra money! Pool area is very pretty and clean with plenty of loungers dotted around BUT be warned - they were not the most comfortable to lie on. Bristol Playa definitely need to invest in better covers as many clients around us complained about their discomfort! During our stay the pool bar was closed due to maintanence which we found very frustrating especially as our two children became 'starving' at lunch time! The mini market on site is excellent, stocking almost everything you could wish for at a reasonable price. Baguettes and croissants baked onsite at a regular basis were an added bonus too! Location of Bristol Playa was ideal for us as we enjoyed the refreshing 15 minute walk into Corralejo along the sea front. Corralejo itself was OK - we much prefered the old town consisting of a few resturantsdotted around the 'music square' as opposed to the more comercial, lively side of town.

This hotel is right out of the main tourist area great if you want it quiet but a bit of a trek into town. Use the buses to get to the sand dunes they are only 1 euro each way and well worth it as the main beaches arn't that great.

Corralejo itself is very nice has a main strip with loads of bars, restaurants and very good supermarkets.

Don't pay full price for this hotel it is very very basic the supermarket onsite however is very conveinient and because of how far the walk is into town you need to call on it for supplies that are heavy to carry.

The weather was mixed when we went did rain quiet alot but cleared quickley and was back to sunshine in no time. Would definately visit this lovely island again but not stay at the Bristol Playa simply because it is in a residential area and feels very out of the way.
