“Beware”
Reviewed 28 March 2008

We have just come back from a week's holiday which was unfortunately marred by our first evening out. On arrival we were impressed with the location and views, although clean there was a strange smell in the apartment. We went into town for a meal and left about 7.30pm. On our return two hours later we noticed the light was on in the bedroom and on entering we saw all our possessions had been gone through thoroughly! Although we were on the first floor, entry had been gained via the patio doors. Our digital camera, a mobile phone, MP3 player and loose cash had been taken. Thank goodness we had put most of our money in the safe prior to going out. We got the impression that staff there and the police were not in the least surprised or interested in the breakin. The apartments are very open as a public footpath runs alongside the building and anyone can walk into the front pool area. Since being home we have read several reviews and we are not the only ones to have had this experience! Good things - towels changed daily. Excellent location to walk to the sand dunes and town, although both are 20 mins away. Situated in front of a good surfing reef break which you can see from the apartment. Bad things - security, noise from other apartments.
You get what you pay for.

My wife and I arrived at 7.00pm for a one week break over Christmas. The place was in darkness and there was no one around. We followed a sign to the reception and stood in some foul smelling water outside a ground floor room which was locked and unoccupied. We asked a girl that was working in the adjoining bar if she knew where the owners were. She said that they leave each day around 2.00pm, that she had nothing to do with the place, but then asked us our names and gave us our room key (?). She said that the water outside reception was a bit of flooding from the drains, as they had just had a storm. Nice. We had a first floor apartment, just above that flooding. The lights flickered on dangerously when we switched them on and we could then see that the rooms were dingy looking, not very inviting and smelled damp. The kitchenette stroke living room had a large quarry tiled floor, a broken sofa bed, a large television that did not work, a small table and chairs and a lamp. The kitchen had a fridge, microwave, hob, sink, cupboard, rusty kettle and utensils. But we never chanced on using them. It was like the broom cupboard or utility room of an old school. The bedroom had two single beds, a table and cupboards. The bed linen was well past it’s ‘sell by date’ and the beds were pretty basic. The bathroom was awful. It was very small, smelled of damp, had mildew all over its cracked tiles and was a place that you felt cleaner going in to than coming out of. All the windows and the balcony were overlooked, so you had to keep the curtains closed for privacy, which didn’t help matters. That night, we asked the girl at the bar that if we could move, but were told to ask the cleaner the next morning. We did and she said that they were full and that they could do nothing. It seems that the place is quite popular with surfers as it is only a few metres away from the beach and they had taken up all the available accommodation. Outside was fairly quiet, though we had been to Fuerteventura before and knew how far it was to the beaches and the town. The outside pool was a large concrete area with a small ladder to get in to it. I am sure that in the middle of the summer, when the weather is better, you may look at the place through ‘Rose tinted glasses’, but at this time of the year, you just can’t. It rained so bad on our second night that water came in to our room from under the door. There was still no help and we were still largely ignored, so decided to check out that day. We returned the keys to the bar next door and then found some better accommodation elsewhere at our own expense. At least we were then able to finish our holiday in better spirits. Our advice…you have been warned!

Very nice apartments situated outside Corralejo. It takes about 20 mins to walk to town. Thats ok when heading in but seems forever when walking back. The apartments are lovely. Very basic and clean. The pool area is gorgeous - more or less right on the beach. However, on our 4th day, at about 5 in the evening we were robbed. My partner was just outside at the pool and I was in the shower and it took less than 5 minutes. 2 blokes we had seen earlier ran into the apartment, picked up a pair of trousers that held a wallet and car keys and ran. It was as if they knew exactly what to look for which spooked me as I felt they had been watching us. That kind of runied our holiday. Two elderly ladies were staying in the apartment above us and we discovered later that they had found footprints on their sofa and were convinced somebody had been in whilst they were out. So be aware of security. In a very quiet location so didn't expect it at all. Otherwise a lovely place to stay for a relaxing holiday. Very quiet and peaceful.
