“Even better than last time!”
Reviewed 18 September 2011

We stayed for 10 nights from 7th Sept 2011. This was our 2nd visit having stayed in April 2010. Barcelo have since taken over the hotel and have made some improvements, all for the better. The food was of a far higher standard and choice compared to our last stay which was very good hence our return visit, this time it was FANTASTIC! The new Spa had opened 2 weeks prior to our stay this time and it was free to use the water therapy, sauna, jacuzzi etc.which were all first class. They were also offering a 15% discount on treatments, so we booked and had a back and neck massage which was worth every penny, totally relaxing. They explained that they didn't know how long the free use of the water therapy etc would continue for and eventually there would be a charge, we read in a leaflet in the spa which said 15euros. On our 2nd day we returned to our room in the afternoon to find a bottle of Cava in an ice bucket with a letter thanking us for being returned guests,( a very nice touch). The staff were friendly and welcoming as always and we will definately be returning to this hotel very soon as we would not stay anywhere else in Correlejo now. Rock Island Bar well worth a visit for chilled out live music and Kactus bar behind the square, near the glass floor serves the best home made Sangria. Can't wait to visit Correlejo for the 4th time a lovely place with fab weather.

Room Tip: High floor with pool view.

We went to Barcelo Santiago Tenerife in May, which we thought was very good but this hotel was even better. With added location of the close local beach or free bus from the hotel to the Grandes Playas where you could hire 2 sunbeds and sunshade for 9 euros.
Food was good, something for most europeans, nice to try different things.(poolside lunchtime cafe food not as good) better to eat out.Pool was nice and could always get sunbeds.Dont pay for sea view ,high pool view better. We had 3 rooms air con good in one ok in two and useless in three.Rooms looking a bit old but still nice.
Drinks very reasonable as they are in competition with the whole strip with lots of bars pubs and restuarants right on your doorstep.Went out every night so cannot comment on hotel entertainment.
Some excellent venues if you like music.Rock Island bar for acoustic Dave & Gary.
Dave also played electric guitar with a group in Rock Cafe, or if you like really heavy music there was the Ace Of Spades.Wakiki is a fantastic beach restuarant by day and a late night club in the evening.San Miguel bar was good for music also.To make a change we ate out at a large steakhouse along the strip.Had fillet steaks on sizzling plates(fantastic)
Went on a trip to Lanzerote to volcanos .Ferry/coach, they dont tell you about waiting at bus stop for nearly an hour for coach. But well worth a visit.(you put a lot of faith in the coach driver?????) Wondered why the escort on the coach kept saying he was an experienced driver, sheer drops off the narrow road.
Went to Oasis Park Zoo, great day out.(a lot walking and hot).Eat at cafe (end of safari ride) the others were dreadfull.Camel ride was an experience as well.
Would definately revisit this hotel, but looking at other Barcelo Hotels for next year.

Superb hotel, great friendly and helpful staff. Good breakfast choice. Lovely pools. Great location and a courtesy bus to/from the Grandes Playas!

Room Tip: If travelling with more than 2 children have a look at upgrading to a suite.

We were there end of August 2011 and enjoyed our stay. Hotel is beautifully cared for and landscaped so that the pool has lovely tropical vegitation and a mixture of sun and shade. The hotel is not too big or too small but has everything you want. Low key animation, bar , pool bar, speicial animation for the small ones. It now has a new spa as well!! Staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. We had a car but its 5 minutes to the beach or to the main street with lots of shopping, banks, bars, restaurants. Also a hotel bus to the huge Flag beach where kite surfering and wave surfering can be observed or learned. Also excursion oportunities at the harbor such as Catamaran/snorkel trips to Lanzarote, ferries kayaks etc. Corallejo has some excellent sea food restaruants too. My only problem ( as others have mentioned ) was the hard beds, horrible machine coffee ( you can order some much better a la carte for 1,80E) and food could have been a bit more creatively prepared. Simple home cooking was ok and lots of variation however.Trust Trip advisor and book this hotel if you want to explore Fuerte and rent a car and visit the salt museum , Cotillo, Sottovento Beach in the south and the mountain towns. Its a bit windy but not devastating or oppressive. In the summer a welcome friend. If I were to return i probably would have booked breakfast only which was very good.

We have just returned from a 10 night holiday. We arrived at the hotel later in the evening than expected. Check in was fast and efficient. Dinner was still being served. Luggage taken to our first floor family superior room with a fantastic pool view. The porter did not speak English but was able to show us how to work the air con and show us that the doors had to be lined up for the aircon to work. The room was the biggest family room we have stayed in and was very clean. Yes, beds are hard but my husband asked for an additional pillow and this made him more comfortable. Food was always fresh and varied from day to day, we loved the desserts a little too much. The animation team, Arianna, Andre and Luca especially, worked very hard. They never gave up asking if we fancied joining in with the various activities but did not nag. They were all very good with the children of all ages and always made an effort to speak to them. All staff were polite, helpful and amazingly good with the children. The resort main street was a little too touristy for our liking. Souvenirs shops, restaurants etc. Most restaurants have someone infront of it bugging you to eat there even though they just heard us say to the one next door that we eat at the hotel.
We went to the dunes on a yellow flag day and loved jumping in the waves but it was too rough for our 3 year old to join in.
In summary, loved the hotel and it's staff.

Room Tip: POOL VIEW REQUESTED PRIOR TO VISIT. Sun in the morning so no build up of heat through the afternoon...

I only booked 10 nights HB as thought we would be bored if we stayed any longer; we usually like to do a bit of travelling about when we go on holiday. Turns out I was wrong, we were really sad to leave. We were in a great position - town on the doorstep, day trips to Lanzarote (recommended), bus to the dunes (way too hot for us, got taxi back after 2 hours!), local beaches, loads of bars and restaurant nearby, shops etc etc.
But the hotel was the best. Who wrote on here that the food was repetitive? Are you kidding me, it was absolutely fantastic, every night something different. The breakfasts were also great, although beware the coffee (tip: bring your own instant, they have hot water on tap so you can make it yourself) and the restaurant manager was lovely. All the staff in fact were so friendly. You could sit outside to eat, which we did every day, and we had no problem with smokers as previous reviewers have mentioned. Cocktails were cheaper than in town, and in general drinks were very good value, not something I could say about 4* hotels in the UK.
Nice mix of nationalities with none dominant - Brits, Irish, Italian, Spanish and German in the main. We had a family room for our 3 teenagers and double for ourselves. Requested pool view, which we got. We had no problem with the aircon, ours worked fine. Fridge and flat screen tv. Beds were on hard side as has been said but it would seem that this is par for the course in this part of the world. There were always sun beds available, although some people had to bag them early, and in fact the pool area was never busy, even though the hotel was full when we were there. Often had the pool to ourselves. Animation team worked their socks off; saw afew of the shows and we enjoyed the ones we saw. Music in the lobby every night.
Thank you to the Barcelo Corralejo Bay for making our holiday so great!!

Room Tip: Email hotel and request pool view, as some of them overlook the lobby areas.

Just back from a week in the Barcelo Bay Hotel, and from the min we arrived at the hotel to the time we left. we went half board and we found the food was fine, each night at dinner there was a different theme so it wasnt the same food each night. The Mini club for the kids is excellent, the staff at the hotel are brillant with kids. Pool was always very clean, room was cleaned every day.airconditioning worked fine, I could not find a fault with the hotel.
