We spent a week at this lovely hotel from 22-29 March for our Wedding Anniversary. On arrival we were greeted by efficient and smiling staff who checked us in quickly and were really helpful. We had been allocated a beautiful Wellness Deluxe Jacuzzi room (1211, which had lots of sun in the afternoon) which overlooked the pool area and a complimentary bottle of bubbly for Anniversary was waiting for us, which was a lovely gesture. As the hotel is adults only, it had a lovely feel to it and even though it was full, it never seemed over-crowded or too hectic. The main restaurant was really good with so much choice of very good hot and cold food at breakfast and dinner (we were half-board) and we had no complaints at all. The Pool Bar restaurant was nice to sit in for lunch, which we did on a few occasions and the food there was also really good. The Pool area was kept very clean and we never struggled to find sunbeds and the heated pool was great. We made sure we were there at 9am when the poolside opened and chose our beds (near the jacuzzi as this was never in the shade). Location wise the hotel was perfect for the beach, which was just over the road and took three minutes to get too and from there we walked along the beach into Corralejo, stopping off at the various bars and restaurants on route for lunch on a few occasions. A taxi to the Town costs just 4 Euros. We went to Music Square, the Aventi Hotel's restaurant, which was amazing for our Anniversary meal and also to the Rock Cafe on a couple of evenings where the entertainment was excellent, with live rock band playing and a great atmosphere. We didn't venture too far out as we were only there for a week, but the Sand Dunes are worth a visit. If we had any niggles at all with the hotel it would only be that we thought it unusual to have to pay for our room safe (3 euros a day) especially as we had paid for a high-end room. The spa could have done with having more staff on, as we tried to book a double romantic massage for our anniversary but were told they were fully booked, even though the double massage rooms lay empty that day? The treatments we did have were very good though and not over-priced at all. We would definitely go back to this hotel, probably at the end of the year as we enjoyed it so much and would recommend it if you are looking for quality rooms and facilities and a relaxed and quiet location.

Room Tip: We had room 1211, a Wellness Deluxe with a Jacuzzi on the balcony and were really pleased with it...

2nd visit to the barcelo and the standards have slipped a little bit, it's the little things that I liked the first time round such as the fresh flowers in reception and how the manager was around checking in with the guests, this time I saw neither! It's a nice hotel the rooms are good we had a wellness room which was nice and the beds are really soft which I like. The reception staff this time round were massive let down, we had a late flight home and with the wellness room you can have a late check out, I asked to see if this was possible only to be told no! (She didn't even ask me what room I was in) the breakfast is lovely but the dinners were pretty poor, you can find something to eat but the spend per head on the guests must be pretty low as it's very repetitive, I would go back but never on half board I think this hotel could be spot on if they read and took action on the points on the reviews the guests left.

Stayed for 3 nights on HB - Fantastic room with excellent facilities and balcony overlooking the swimming pool and spa area. Food good and plenty of choice and room in the restaurant. Noise at times from the corridor and lobby at night but would certainly stay again

Room Tip: Avoid room facing Corralejo and there can be noise from all the Bars in the Town

Checked in for 1 night on Wednesday 26th March. Check-in deathly slow. Even had time to look for the loo and come back 5 minutes or so later to find my husband had not moved. Some 15 minutes or so later the single receptionist was joined by another lady who emerged from a back room. Went to room to find my "superior double sea view" gave me fabulous view of 2 deeply shaded tennis courts and lots of villas with just a restricted sea view that could only be achieved by walking out onto the balcony and turning your head left. It certainly did not match the hotel's booking website picture in any respect at all. Went down to pool - no towels to be found and no pool-side attendant. 20 minutes later I returned to the reception desk to find - yes, a queue. I suggested they were grossly undermanned and she agreed. Because she was busy she couldn't help out directly but said she would have to phone whoever needed to be phoned. Returned to the pool to tell my husband and some 10 minutes later he saw the pool attendant. He rushed over but by the time he got to where he had seen the attendant he said that attendant had dived off sideways somewhere. Towels appeared 10 minutes later.

Early evening I had a shower but had to phone room service to chase a bathrobe. I was told I could have one for 5 Euros. I have never, ever had to pay extra for a bathrobe. I reached for the hairdryer to find it had just 2 settings - off and volcanic. I now have a badly scorched scalp.

Went to the dreaded reception to check on restaurant facilities. The main restaurant offered a buffet - something neither my husband nor I enjoy. There was what sounded like a fabulous jazz poolside dinner with a very interesting menu. Tried to book but was told we could only book for the following Wednesday and as we were there just for 1 night it was impossible to make a table booking.

I was skeptic at first, about hotels in Fuerteventura, but this hotel turned out to be quite good. Better than I expected and definitely at good price. We dined out and took trips every day, but breakfast was enjoyable at the hotel. Clean, quiet, friendly staff. Would return.

When we arrived we found we had been upgraded to a Wellness room which was a pleasant suprise, with our own Jaccuzzi and fourposter sunbed thingy on the wellness terrace. Room was spacious and clean with plenty of storage, tea/coffee making and fridge. Bathroom clean and spacious but as others have said, definitely needs updating. Nice pool area and we didn't have any problems in finding a vacant sunbed when we wanted one. Communal areas were comfortable and clean. Apart from an excellent jazz duo, the evening entertainment was generally not very good so we didn't bother with it. Choice of food at breakfast was good but we would like to have seen some strawberries or fresh fruit salads instead of the tinned fruit offered. Unfortunately, evening meals were a disappointment for us as it was quite bland and lacking in imagination. If we ever decide to stay at this hotel again we would take our evening meals elsewhere. The staff throughout the hotel were always pleasant, professional and helpful.

Room Tip: A wellness room on the 2nd floor with its own Jacuzzi.

a few minor niggles but overall most enjoyable week at the carralejo bay
location -excellent 2-3 minutes only to the main strip full of bars shops ect for us perfect
room-very good large plenty of cupboard space lovely balcony overlooking the port and lanzarote in the distance only a couple of downsides tv has only bbc world and sky news as English channels safe although installed is at a charge per day
food-buffet style not too exiting but adequate good choices 6 30 to 9 30pm for dinner makes the half board flexible
entertainment-bit low key at night good female solo singer the first night but not too clever after that daytime activities good but difficult for the rep to get people involved in the programmes I played boules /petanque/with only 3 other guests who could be botherd to join in
hotel ambiance-very good large lobby lounge excellent for chatting and relaxing in the evening nice pool bar serving lunchtime snacks not expensive as these hotel facilities normally are swimming pools one heated with jaccuzi one small with 4 underwater sun loungers on large unheated but very stimulating once you force yourself in only downside is I like a swim before breakfast and the pool is not open till 9 am usual sun bed grab when the attendant opens up but enough to go round
overall too many good points to outweigh a few little niggles and if we return to Fuerteventura we will not consider anywhere else but the barcelo
straw bear

Room Tip: sea view rooms are lovely but the pool rooms are less breezy
