“Loved it!”

We're still on a mission to find that perfect blend of fab hotel and interesting location for our annual sun holiday. The Barcelo here comes very close to perfection.

We booked AI with Thomas Cook. Our flights were with Monarch which was annoying as we couldn't prebook our seats or do online check in. This was the worst bit of the holiday as we weren't seated together and we were at the back by the toilets. Not a good start to the holiday! On the way back we asked for seats together and by a window which was sorted no problem. Guess we should have asked first time!

40 mins transfer to hotel, quick check in, friendly helpful reception staff. Room was a bit disappointing at first as it was one of the older style ones, not the nice rooms they show you on their webpage! If we hadn't had that expectation then it would have been fine. Spotlessly clean, comfy bed and UK channels on TV if you're missing Jeremy Kyle. Bathroom was fine, nice big shower over the bath. Our room overlooked the Adama Bar and we could hear the music in our room - we were on the third floor. Could be annoying if you prefer early nights.

Really pleased we went AI. Most named brands are included. Cocktails lovely. I'm veggie and I usually live off salad and chips abroad as there isn't much else for me. The breakfasts here were great with lots for me to eat. Evening meals weren't so good - it would help if food could be labelled as veggie. Spanish cheese isn't veggie which doesn't help. The pool bar was better for actual meals, it's only open in the daytime though.

The spa is fab. We went to book a couple of days using the water circuit and got an offer of both of us for two days at 42 euros. We didn't see it advertised and I think they could promote things like this more. The entertainment wasn't very well advertised until they got the electronic board working outside the Tindaya Restaurant later in the week. They do an exercise session (aqua fit, pilates, stretching etc) each day for free. Otherwise you can pay 20euros for unlimited access to all the classes they do. There were also free scuba lessons one day and they do other things as well. Evening entertainment was generally ok. There was a fantastic pop-rock band, another night there was an unintentionally hilarious singing duo.

We took a tip from a previous reviewer and booked in the spa for our last day as check out is 12. Our pick up not til 5:20. Worked well as they have lockers to use and the showers are great. We left our luggage in a secure room.

Corralejo has a lovely beach, loads of shops and restaurants. Plenty do do - we would love to come back again!

We have just returned from a very memorable holiday at the Barcello Corralejo Bay Hotel. The rooms were large, the bathroom was exceptional and it was very clean which I think for any one is 1 thing that we look at. As you walk through the doors at reception you get that feel that "this is ok its nice". The reception staff were very helpful and check in quick and painless and our cases were taken too our rooms for us. The food from beginning to end of our 11 night stay was plentiful, hot and catered with its choices for everyone. The pool area was very clean with a choice of pools including jacuzzi and lie down pool. The staff were a credit to the hotel always polite helpful and a smile. While we were there I was fortunate to have my birthday and arrived back at our room to find a birthday cake and a chilled bottle of Cava with 2 glasses there was a lovely note from the hotel wishing me a happy birthday. There were 4 in our party 2 couples and we all said the same we would definitely return here. You can always find something to gripe about with your hotel but you will have to dig deep to find a fault here. A big thank you to the hotel and its staff.

We've just returned from our two week holiday at the Barcelo Corralejo Bay and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The hotel is well positioned being quite close to a yellow, sandy beach (cut through the apartments opposite) and at the top of the road is the main strip of shops, supermarkets, restaurants etc. both to the left and to the right.
Food:
The staff were excellent, especially in the dining room. We were half board but found the drinks reasonably priced. There was a wide selection of food on offer for breakfast and dinner. There was a confusing area with fruit & veg displayed like a shop & we weren't sure whether we could take an apple/banana from there, but eventually we just took what we wanted. We refilled our water bottles in the restaurant at breakfast but also bought some at the supermarket. Upgrading from B&B to half board was €8 a day, but from half board to AI was 45 per person per day!!
Entertainment:
The evening entertainment was especially good and was provided by the hotel. My husband did the orientation walk on the 1st morning and we both did the silk painting with Sue (who worked extremely hard to help everyone with their creation. Entertainment in the reception area was variable & some acts were much too loud. We particularly enjoyed the soul duo.
Rooms:
The public rooms were of a good standard. Our upgraded pool view room (€10 a night extra) was of good size, but could have done with some refurbishment: however, it was still worth the cost of the upgrade. There was a good sized bathroom with a bath, overhead shower, loo & bidet plus twin sinks. A kettle was provided in that room with tea/coffee replenished each day. We drank coffee in the hotel because the water wasn't hot enough for tea tastes. Our room number was 3107 and this afforded a good view of the pool area with morning sun. Rooms opposite us would had afternoon/evening sun, which would have been pleasant too. Some rooms over the reception area overlooked the restaurant and a courtyard where meals could be taken.
We hired a car from Alonso car hire and though the car had done 80,000 miles it was fine and there was no excess, all insurance was covered including tyres. We paid by pre-paid card so that it was impossible for anyone to take more money than was on the card. We heard some awful stories about Goldcar but if hiring a car from the airport as we should've done, we've found Pluscar to be brilliant in the past. Parking at the hotel is expensive but there's plenty of on street parking fairly close to the hotel.
We travelled around the island using the car to get to Cotillo - a village overlooking a harbour where we were able to park easily and have a coffee whilst admiring the view. We drove out to the lighthouse there also. We visited Puerto del Rosario and parked in the free car park under the mall there for some shopping. We went as far south as Costa Calma, but it was a long drive through a barren landscape and we decided not to continue to Jandia. We spent some time visiting the inland towns/villages but like the Corralejo area best with it's wonderful dunes/beaches just outside the town.

Room Tip: Third floor rooms will have a better view and for preference we'd have a room with afternoon/eve...

Very comfortable hotel. Superior room spacious with good facilities. Adult only ambience very restful. Good choice of food in buffet restaurant. Staff very helpful and all spoke some English. Good location close to beach and town centre. Day and evening entertainment varied and enjoyable; particularly the free silk painting classes. Only small disadvantage was water in swimming pool being fairly cold. In all we had a great holiday and would certainly go back.

Myself and my partner stayed here for 1 week from 13th June. Excellent stay, one of the best 'beach' holidays we've ever had. Both 27 years old and found plenty to do, we are gay and found that Corralejo is very gay friendly i.e. didn't feel like we were the odd ones out and there is a gay bar called le Freak and a sauna which we didn't go to. We stayed in a wellness room with Jacuzzi on the balcony overlooking the pool. We requested a Jacuzzi on the balcony before we went rather than on the shared terrace or in the room which most are. I would definitely recommend this, we were in room 1209 and got the sun from 1pm right through to sunset so it was lovely to go back to the room in an afternoon and sunbath in the hot tub! Rooms really nice and cleaned to a high standard every day with fresh towels. We got robes and slippers, room scent, fruit, mini bar and aloe products on arrival (although had to ask for room scent and aloe products as they forgot). Bathroom a little dated compared to the rest of the room but was adequate. We found air con in room wasn't very powerful but we just left it on all day and night as we had two room cards (One needs to go in a slot to activate lights and air con). For those bothered, a couple of English channels in the room including ITV, BBC 1 & 2, C4 and news. Docking speaker/alarm clock for iphones which was a bonus plus a small fridge. No noise on an evening, if like us you are in bed by midnight/1am you will be able to fall asleep straight away as beds are comfy and no noise. Food was better than other 'package' holiday mass catered hotels we have stayed at although we discovered halfway through eating on the last night that the chicken was raw, when we told the canteen manager he just whisked it away with no apology - a little annoying but we can accept that it can sometimes happen, other than that the food was good if not a little monotonous. Only went half board because it was £40 more for both of us otherwise we'd have gone BnB as the food and drink in Corralejo is so cheap and plenty of nice places to eat. Be prepared to be stared at whenever you enter the canteen, every time you look up somebody different is staring at you - it's a lovely hotel if not a little pretentious with the regulars swanning around like Richard and Judy lol! Always spots around the pool and really quiet, be prepared for the old bids to knock you out of the way and run for the best spots at 9am when the pool opens! Beach is literally over the road and the main strip and old town is just a really short walk away. Don't be put off by the 'strip' when you first get there as it looks a little rough but you soon realise it's nice with no hassle and the old town and restaurants and bars along the coast are great. We hired a car from CiCar at the bottom of the strip opposite the shell garage for 30 euros for one day, cheapest we found. Didn't have to put a deposit down or give credit card details so I would recommend them. Definitely get a car and go exploring, first time driving abroad and it was so easy - A tip, DO NOT use any of the preset loactions in the sat nav as jokers like to send you on a wild goose chase all around the island which we found out at our expense. I highly recommend going to la Cotilla, a beautiful little fishing village with stunning views and a lovely bay. I would also take a trip to the sand dunes for the stunning beaches and naked sunbathing (if that's your thing) - we learned when we got home that it is a meeting place for the gays which explained the mass of middle aged men walking around naked lol! If like us you are torn between the 2 Barceló hotels in caleta de fuste and the one in Corralejo, we would DEFINATELY recommend Corralejo, we went and looked at the other two and they are nowhere near as nice and the resort had hardly anything to do! We got 2 free days in the spa as part of the booking which was brilliant, lots to do and they dont usher you out as soon as your two hours are up which is nice as there is private sunbathing areas away from the masses so it provides a nice change - i would recommend booking in early on in the day so you can stay in there all day if you want. Brilliant holiday, a mix of young and old couples and the staff are really nice. Transfer time from airport is no longer than half an hour. Will go back!!

Room Tip: room 1209 had outside hot tub and sunshine from lunch time until sunset - very quiet too!

Barcelo Corralejo Bay is an idyllic U-shaped retreat sunken into the Corralejo landscape, surrounding a lovely pool and leisure complex. The first thing that hit me upon arrival was the sheer size of the hotel, which doesn't actually appear all that imposing from the exterior. It's truly massive!

Our room was very comfortable, and we were given a room with a balcony which overlooked the hotel's three swimming pools, which I imagine is the best available view. The beds were plush, and bathroom was modern and spacious, which are I guess the main considerations when booking a hotel. The TV wasn't especially great, with fairly annoying picture issues, but if you're judging a holiday by the effectiveness of the TV, then you should probably just stay at home!

Breakfasts were very extensive, with good choices whatever mood you found yourself in each morning - whether you wanted a full cooked breakfast, including omelettes, pancakes plus all full English elements, or fruits, breads, cereals, etc. - and serving until 10:30am afforded us the occasional lie-in!

The staff were extremely helpful, and went above and beyond on a couple of occasions. The main instance being when I was having issues with printing my boarding pass for our flight home, where the male concierge took it upon himself to resolve the problem personally, which must have taken a good 5-10 minutes of his time.

The fact that there are no children really does make this a tranquil hideaway when you're bored of the nearby beaches, and affords you the real opportunity to truly relax laying around one of the three pools. There is a Wellness Centre available which we didn't utilise, but this was mainly due to us being more than relaxed enough already.

The location is near perfect, with a 2-minute walk to the nearest beach, and an easy 10-minute walk to the old part of town where all the best restaurants were situated.

I would definitely recommend this hotel if you are a couple looking for a relaxing place to stay in a decent location. Do bear in mind that the average age for guests is probably between 50 and 60 years old though, but this isn't a problem if you're just looking to chill.

Room Tip: I'd probably advise asking for a pool view, but mainly as I am not aware of any better available...

Spent a week in this hotel. Very clean and inviting, food excellent, catering for every taste possible, fresh cooked every day in front of you.
Huge restaurant, never any queuing no matter how many people are there. Staff cannot do enough for you, we witnessed a disabled man being helped on each meal occasion being very well helped by the staff, without being requested , treated with the utmost respect, absolutely brilliant. The hotel is very clean throughout. The room was cleaned everyday ,staff did a brilliant job. The room itself was of larger than the average size the air conditioning was easily controlled and effective. Large TV in the room with English channels.
We were on the third floor so had great views over the pool area and other areas. The bed was far in excess of a kingsize and very comfortable. Plenty of clothes storage space and an electronic safe for your valuble items. The bathroom was very spacious, sufficient towels throughout the week supplied. The beech is just a short walk across the road from the hotel, also the shopping areas are just a short walk away. There is entertainment each evening.
We will be coming back to stay again.

Room Tip: Go for the high 3rd floor for best views.
