“A love hate relationship!”
Reviewed 19 October 2013

Arriving at the hotel, I was underwhelmed to say the least! No dramatic entrance; no mention of Dali's house being a stone's throw away (literally, the Dali's were our neighbors!)...just an average hotel with a Catalan flavor. Terrible art, poorly decorated rooms and no history of it's very close affiliation with the Dali's! This property used to house their guests from CoCo Chanel to Andy Warhol, Bridget Bardot and Picasso-- necessary because the Dali's original home had only one small bedroom. Needs decorating help, but... My husband woke me to see the most beautiful star studded sky I've ever seen in my life! Then....I've never seen a more beautiful sunrise! Then, it made sense...Dali laughed and I laughed ad Jimmy already got it so he was great and instead of one day, we stayed a week! The Dalis were our neighbors for a week! How cool!

Room Tip: Try to get a room overlooking the bay

When one considers a fisherman's Casa not 50m away opposite Dali's house is up for sale for 1.5m euros, I am left head scratching why this hotel hasn't considered a makeover to profit on its drop dead gorgeous loation. The hotel entrance bodes of good things to come with design cues still popular today. Sadly it is downhill after that. The hotel passages and rooms are tiled along with single skin brick walls meaning you can hear every neighbour's snore or, in our case every minute of their sexual antics at 1.30am in the morning! Add in the incredibly old and uncomfortable beds and you are left with the worst nights sleep either me or my partner had ever paid for. It is a desparate shame the hotel doesn't recognise its flaws and upgarde. Clearly the recession will never affect the hotel due to is proximity to Dali. I can only put the hotel's condition down to poor business acumen by the owners. Therefore, if you wish to sleep at night, I CANNOT recommend his hotel. Oh, nearly forgot he breakfast experience too: in a word, poor.

The hotel is perfectly situated!!!! Outside of Cadaqués in Port Lligat. Beautiful view overlooking the bay.
2 minutes walk down to the entrance of the Dali House (which allowed us to go back, after first disappointment of not having a reservation, to check if there were some cancellations that would still allow us to visit without having done a reservation before).
10-20 minutes walk from Cadaqués (kind of steep walk way, so not a good choice if you are not comfortable with walking).
Lovely terrace with a small swimming pool, nothing fancy but great for cooling down, we used it after check out as we still stayed the day. We used the shower at the swimming pool, had a swim and were nicely refreshed for our trip back.
Ask for a room with sea view. We paid in high season EUR 138.-- per night for bed room for three persons. The room was basic, but all very clean which is what counted for us, we were sightseeing anyhow and did not spend much time in the room. But we enjoyed the small balcony.
Beds are pretty noisy, they might need to get oiled. Getting into and out of bed is probably heard by your room neighbour so anything noisier than this you will definitely share with every one ;-) The third added bed was very basic, the feet quite some lower than the upper part of the bed, but if not for too many nights, it is not a big problem.
Breakfast buffet is at an extra EUR 10.-- per person. It is basic, not an enormous choice. It is fine if you want to start the day with something in your belly: boiled eggs, bacon, ham, cheese, fruit (orange, kiwi, apple), some cereals (choco crisps, corn flakes), coffee, tea, milk, bread, jam, croissants and chocolate bread. All this in a room that overlooks the bay, if you want you have some tables on the terrace, romantic, but hot in the sun.
We were too late to eat at the hotel at night. There is a small "chiringuito" right down at the small beach, "Es Ranco den Dani" where we had some nice food. Had some squid and "calamar", great! There is a second chiringuito next to the parking, which we did not try.
Walk to the next bay after the little beach if you want to do some snorkeling and see some nice fishes.
We would definitely go back to this hotel again for a short trip, if you have plans and the hotel is not your main preoccupation during your stay.

We travelled to this awesome location to stay near Dali Casa for a week for my birthday. Tres bien all thumbs up for location and Port Lligat itself. Dali Casa was like a miracle seen from our window just few steps down the path.
Hotel is cosy with nice rooms, great terrace and breathtaking views from it.

Buuuuut the hotel staff made me laugh everyday I faced them - never met that snobby persons in my life. First, thanks I speak Spanish cos they don't understand English :) Second, they don't smile - a girl at the breakfast was just "awesome" with that dead face (maybe cos I didn't ordered the really overpriced breakfasts for 10euros a person). Third - few smiles from reception and fresh towels appeared only after a full payment but not on the leaving date.
Anyway, these tortured staff didn't spill a yota of my happiness to stay near Dali Casa.

Room Tip: Mountain view is better than a terrace cos in shadow.

This is one of the 2 only hotels in Port Lligat, a perfect spot if you're looking for a quieter place than Cadaques and still stay at a walkable distance from it. Port Lligat is a lovely fisherman village, great for relaxing and add culture (Dali's house) and lanscape (Creus Cape), and I guess that's what the hotel lives from.
It has a lot of 70's charm -I think all renovations that may have been done (if any) have kept that style :). We were given the very last room they had available -which actually didn't look like a room, but a reconverted junk room behind a corner -even the door was smaller than normal ones :). However, they didn't charged us less than the "standard price" -which is quite high cinsodering what they offer.
Breakfast was also quite poor in quantity and, specialy, quality.
In the night it may also be a bit noisy, as the rooms in our wing faced a pedestrian aerea wich seems to be quite busy in the night.

I would only recomend it because of the location -but, if you have the chance, book the other hotel in Port Lligat. Looked much better :)

The hotel is located on an amazing little bay with fab views. Apart from lousy service and noice from other customers/owner from the hotel, we did enjoy our stay.

Horrible hotel with the lousiest service I have ever seen!!! Service staff is not there to provide service but do you a favor-- specially in the restaurant. If this was not enough, everything is overpriced. I would not recommend this experience not even to an enemy
