“Excellent Value For Money”
Reviewed 8 August 2012

Overall a very good hotel. Staff very friendly , food very plentiful as much as you can eat, good quality and, and wide ranging choice with different themed options each night.. can't imagine anyone wanting to waste money eating out.
Rooms cleaned daily and properly and public areas very good too
Pool a bit small and despite hotel asking for no reservation towels on limited sunbeds this was completely ignored by the guests.
Entertainment patchy ..
Great for beach and shopping near too.. though downside a little noisy at night

But overall we would definitely recommend and would go back

Room Tip: Rooms facing away from sea are quieter but with poor view.

We stayed in H TOP Amaika 25 July-1 Aug and have to say it was great. The food was excellent, rooms were very clean. for the first time we went half board (usually go self catering) have to say next time I would not hesitate to go all inclusive. Only downside to this hotel is the pool area, its not easy to get a bed beside the pool.

My first holiday all inc. and with a partner.... The hotel was kept very well, some of the staff were friendly, especially the bar staff.

But the reasons why I rated it poor is because of the food, it was appauling, leaving my partner and I eating out more than 6 times on a 10 night holiday, food was not varied and often found that pieces of grissle were in the meat and not much 4 star foods were offered, I would call it more of a canteen than a restaurant.

We found out that all inc. wasn't in fact all inclusive, you had to pay to gain the 'GOLD' card which meant everything was included then, although this information was not given to us by any of the staff upon arrival, we found out a few days before leaving by some other english people who had purchased it upon arrival for a mere £15 extra, if we had known about this we would have purchased this offer due to it allowing free cocktails, free wine, champagne and imported spirits.

Also on the last 4 nights there was a group of 30 German students who happened to be staying on our floor, at 3 am every morning they would congregate on our floor and wake us up, they would knock on doors and shout 'I need fire'. This was very upsetting as the noise of banging doors and running around continued until sometimes 5am for four nights in a row. We were informed that the police would be called if they continued to cause trouble, but after the threat of the police the noise continued and the hotel staff did nothing to stop it.

Although this happened we tried not to let it ruin our holiday
The maids were very polite and cleaned the rooms every day, leaving them sparkling and the bar staff honestly made our stay worth while because they gave us all of the information that the reception staff had avoided to tell us, and one of the younger male bar staff was always collecting glasses, as soon as your glass was empty he was there to clean it up, and he was such a lovely person too.
The hotel is a nice hotel, but I think it is a little outdated, we visited the Calella palace and that was much more modern and had much more amenities than the Amaika, but it was only a 3 star hotel.
The pool area is also a little small, luckily when we arrived it was quiet, but when it started to get busy it was very difficult to get a sun bed, but it was always cleaned and it was a nice pool.
It was said to have night time entertainment and I must admit there were probably about 4 nights that had entertainment but there wasn't anything out of the ordinary, it wasn't as such very entertaining.
Calella on the other hand is a wonderful place and would love to give a shout out for the burger bar and the staff (situated with the crazy golf and bowling) This is because we checked all of the other prices of restaurants and they were a little expensive, but going to the burger bar things were at least 3 euros cheaper and the same menu, but the food was absolutely fantastic, I must admit everything I ordered on the menu was beautiful and the staff were amazing, always tending to your needs, and so friendly. I really do recommend to try it, it doesn't look like much but trust me, you'll love it, it would be great for families too because they have a games room a bowling alley and crazy golf and its only about 3 euros or they had a deal on 5 euros for bowling and crazy golf.
We also took a trip to barcelona on the train, we were pretty nervous about it but we managed it okay (worried about getting on the wrong train) it only took about 50 minutes and the trains are much better than englands. Also they are quite frequent and ontime. (my boyfriend proposed to me whilst we were in barcelona for the day so its going to be a place to visit many more times)
I hope you found this review helpful and I hope where ever you may be travelling that you have a great time

Room Tip: If you want a sea view I suggest you try to choose a high floor and ensure its facing towards the po...

After reading previous reviews about this hotel, I must admit that I was somewhat nervous about staying here. Reports of theft, unhelpful staff and distasteful food meant that I had a less than wonderful preconception about the place.

Having just come back from a 2 week, all inclusive holiday, I can only assume that previous writers were writing about a different hotel. There are other H-Top hotels, which I understand are of a lower star rating in the area, perhaps the reviews were about them?

H-Top Amaika was fantastic. The staff were polite, helpful and friendly. On the very first day of my stay, I lost my purse from my pocket while in the restaurant area. Within moments a lovely waiter had collected it and returned it back to me. The all-inclusive stay we had came with an unexpected added bonus. While the pool area isn't massive, there is an affiliated beach bar the short walk from the hotel to the beach. At this bar, H-Top All Inclusive guests get 50% off the price of drinks. What could be more wonderful than drinking ice cold, beautifully made Sangria, overlooking the beach in the gorgeous sunshine, and at half price!!??

Overall I was really pleasantly surprised and would happily return to the hotel and area.

did not book this hotel 1 day before were told we would be put in this hotel as it was a higher star we accepted, and got compensation for the move , on arrival we were last to be booked in very quick , the reception staff are spot on ,the resturant was good , the staff were really good, the rooms were spotless and well looked after , the pool was a no no ,to smalll and cold , but welll looked after ,but the bar staff in serving were poor they always looked as though it was a hinderance to serve you more interested in talking to each other

Room Tip: the rooms at the top seemed more quiet then those below , and its a nice view in the morning

We usually stay at this hotel in march for a short break. The hotel is based on the titanic theme and is spotlessly clean. Hotel rooms are cleaned daily with towel changed daily. The food is excellent with plenty of choice and snacks in the afternoon and evening.
As this is a Htop hotel you can use your card at the other Htop hotels in calella and other towns, You can book lunch in another hotel so long as you book the day before, we like to go to lloret and santa susanna for days out so this is great.
As we go out of season the hotel is never overcrowded and very rarely queues in the restaurant or at the bar.
Staff are friendly and polite and a smile and hello goes a long way.

Room Tip: ask for a pool side room
