Overal it was a nice holiday which we really enjoyed. In general the staff are friendly and helpful, the hotel and the rooms are clean. The pool is nice and good for weak swimmers, non-swimmers and children. The food is nice, warm and at your discretion. The air conditioning works well.
Marita (from Latvia) who is in charge of entertainment is a very special young lady. She will go to an extreme length to engage the guests and make sure they are happy. Always polite, she will make sure you don't miss the events that take place in Calella or in the evening at the hotel. She is the trustworthy employee everyone will want to have in the tourism industry: good listening skills, positive attitude, always smiling, good engagement with clients and children. Inventivity and encouragement words are part of her baggage. Her understanding for the need of a personal service that offers the guests (and their children) a 'superior experience' in their summer holiday is very important. I just hope the managers of this hotel will realise her potential and offer her a permanent job with them.
My wife really enjoyed her morning aerobic sessions in the pool and my son enjoyed her afternoon sessions and the 9pm disco sessions for children with her.
However there were a few issues: we had a squeaky door in the room 142 and there is no tap water available for dinner. They expected us to buy a bottle of water and this is not acceptable. You either charge for it in the price of the room with half-board booking or you provide tap water for free.
I do understand the need for hotels to make money but a half-board booking without water for dinner is not acceptable. The staff in the restaurant are very, very noisy, expecially Maria. They speak laudly from one corner of the room to someone in another corner and they chat most of the time annoying the guests.
Hope the bad points will be resolved until the next year when we intend to comeback.
