Reviewed 24 June 2012

Well what can i say,,,yet again another brill holiday for the third year,,hotel brilliant again,,reception staff friendly and very helpful, bar staff brill, fernando and his entainment was a laugh, the food was amazing again anything you could possibly want, brought my sister husband and 2 boys back with us this year, they enjoyed it too..found the students (about 70 of them) that were staying were a bit noisey when they were coming in at 3 and 4am..and callela is as beautiful as last year i just love how clean the streets and the beaches are, when u walk under the railway tunnel to the beach its is so clean and has a lovely smell of floral disinfectant, and the quaint streets that are lined with boutiques and bars are lovely,,had 2 weeks and could of stayed longer...hopefully coming back next year..!!

Room Tip: ask for a pool room,,

Just returned on 20th june from 10 days all inclusive at the Hotel Santa Monica.
I have no complaints about the hotel, all the staff without exeption were great, genuinely friendly !
The food in the resteraunt was smashing, great choice for all ages, drinks were generous.half pints of beer took a bit of getting used to(felt like Ken Barlow off corrie) but you can get 2 at a time so no problem.
The rooms were clean and tidy with towels changed every day.
There were 7 of us in our party so we booked 3 rooms,my wife is disabled and we had requested a room with disabled facilities through ALLICO the company we booked with, checked twice that they had done this, they hadn't,the manager showed us the booking form they received from the company to confirm this,so won't be useing those again!! we had to stay the first night in an ordinary room and were switch the next day to 1 with disabled facilities, the manager was very apologetic about ALLICO'S inability to get the booking right.
We had an 8 year old and a 2 year old with us the daytime entertainment was great as was the evening and very proffesional, non of your Haven rubbish here!
There was a problem, GERMAN students, about 70 of them, rude loud and arrogent,in fact i nearly came to blows with one.Best thing apparently is to avoid June as its crawling with them, the management even cut a lot of there wrisbands off so they could not get free drinks thank goodness.
We will without a doubt return, just not in June.
I haven't complaints about the hotel and beleive me i am fussy,go there it great!!!!

No good beating about the bush, here's my view of my stay 26-05-12 to 02-06-12 at the Hotel Santa Monica.
On arrival receptionist very helpful and informative, a very friendly lady.
Room a bit dated but clean & comfy.
All inclusive bar fantastic if a little odd to understand what was inclusive, a list in the information pack would be helpful.
Bar staff very friendly and obliging.
Dining room & facilities wonderful. The food was to suit all tastes, very well presented, plenty of choices, hot or cold, delicious. Well done!
A nice clean pool awaited us with a lovely adults & children's area. Lots of sunbeds, tables & chairs & brollys and an outdoor drinks and snack-bar.
Entertainment staff invited you to join the days activities, but didn't persist if you said no.
All went well for two days then we had a GERMAN teenage invasion!!!
At least 80 16 to 18 year olds just finished their schooling and out for a good time no matter who they upset. They were rowdy, arrogant, ignorant, noisy, greedy, selfish louts.
I make no apologies for my description of them.
We were kept awake with their after midnight antics and drunkenness, which was reported to security & night staff not only by myself, but by other annoyed guests.
Management sorted this out after a couple of nights but this had already spoilt what could have been a fantastic holiday.
We also had a group of about 50 or so youngsters aged about 10 to 12 who were also very rowdy especially at mealtimes where they dominated the dining area. They were allowed to roam the entertainment area and the bar, where they drank copious amounts of fizzy drinks. Need I say more?! Their supervisors had to be taken to task over their unruly behaviour, which management also resolved.
All in all, the staff were superb and that includes the cleaners who kept the towels replenishes and everything clean & tidy.
May I suggest if you're thinking of a family holiday here, to ask if any large groups will be staying. If not you will get the same as I did, many sleepless nights.

Agree with other travellers comments, rude people, lack of lifts (would like to see fire drill) We ate in the hotel on four occasions in ten days, because of the chaotic resturant. If we had read reviews or been advised by travel agent before we booked, what we thought was reasonably cheap holiday, turned out very expensive because of the meals we bought outside. We were not fully inclusive, and only had a few drinks in bar, as it wasn't the atmosphere we like. No problem with children, just large groups of ignorant people. Felt as if we were on room only basis, which was clean. Loved Calella and would go again, but not to this hotel. We would have been better self catering. Hotel is too large for the facilities it has.

Room Tip: Read trip advisor, or as travel agent to check for you.

Hotel clean and tidy, reception staff very friendly as were cleaning ladies. Resturant staff very efficient. The procedure at meal times is very chaotic and if you sit at the wrong table the guy comes across very rude, but we decided he has to keep a check on where his empty tables are and it must be annoying. It doesn't say anywhere what to do at meal times, maybe it should to stop the confusion, you have to queue up, then you are given a table number to sit at. The guy giving out the table numbers did his best every day to give us the same tables altogether as there was 11 of us. We did find 7.30pm for dinner was quite late as we had a 4 yr old, could do with being earlier. The food was good and always hot lovely range of salad stuff. We were on level 6 room was ok, bit dated but comfy and shower was good. My parents and sister were on level 1 which all rooms have a huge balcony and more up to date bedrooms. There are 3 beds in every room but we had to have 2 rooms, my hubby and son in one room and me and other son in room next door, not ideal but it was ok for a week. There was varied entertainment every night and girls around the pool every day organising games for the kids and adults. Plenty of sun beds and brolleys. Only one thing I would have to say was it is obviously a popualr hotel for groups of students that can be noisey, which isn't what you want on a family holiday, but it wouldn't put me off going again. The beach is a 10 minute walk away. Personally I loved the shingle as it brushes off everything, but no good for sandcastles and it can hurt your feet after a while. The waves were quite strong and the water goes deep very quickly. My 4 year old and his 4 year old cousin loved it tho, we bought them a small paddling pool and filled it up for them on the beach so they didn't have to go in the water. Calella is a lovely place with lovely people, great for families but mind the dog muck on the pavements.

Room Tip: The rooms on the back over look a very busy road can be noisey. Level 1 have huge balconies.

Excellent Food. Very clean hotel with very helpful staff. Rooms are kept spotlessly clean. Close to the beach. Calella is a lovely spot, with excellent shopping area. Would go All Inclusice next time and probably save money. Some good fun entertainment in the hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for one of the top floors for a sea view.
