Just got back today from this hotel and can I just say people who moan get a better job and more money and stay somewhere more suited for you, yes it's noisy sometimes but what do you expect people don't go on holiday to be boring and quiet and yes the Germans are annoying but just smack them one and they will leave u alone. It's a good hotel with a nice medium sized pool some staff are friendly some are ignorant but the restaurant staff especially peppe and adrila are very nice and will help you out, as for the people moaning about the food again pay the extra or eat what you expect from a 3 star holiday hotel that is cheap there is always something to eat but mostly it is pork and fish or beef burgers. If u havent paid for all inclusive i reccomend the nice cafe right outside the hotel or the best western just down the road both great people and lovely food also the bar top or for you boring complaining misreable people theres macdonalds down the road The town is only a 2 minute walk away and has loads and loads of shops and bars and eateries. The train station is a 7 minute walk away and for 8 euros u can go to Barcelona get on the le hospital train and get off at catalunya but PLEASE BE VERY AWARE OF PICK POCKETS as unfortunately I was a victim of this on my last night and the police are not the most helpful so be aware. So overall this hotel is good if u want a cheap holiday and a good location if ur stuck up and misreable or want the ritz for the price of a hostel please don't go get a better job.

My mother and I stayed in hotel Esplai from 9th – 16th September 2012 and had a lovely time. We were on the first floor on the right side of the hotel (above the entrance). When we arrived (at 11am) we were greeted politely by an English speaking receptionist who was very helpful. We did have to wait for our room to be available but this took only 15 minutes and when we found the maid still cleaning she kindly let us in and wait on the balcony.

The hotel was clean and tidy and had a nice atmosphere with friendly staff.

The beach and shops are within 5-10 minutes walk away so very accessible and there is a supermarket just across the road for any groceries you may need, we were all inclusive so it was not necessary.

The food was buffet style for breakfast, lunch and dinner with a variety of cold and hot foods. The tables were cleared fast and extra food was brought out before it ran out. The selection of food ranged from a salad bar (lunch and dinner), cooked food including rice/spaghetti/potatoes and meat (usually pork) and fruit/angel delight/moose/ice cream.

The swimming pool was a good size for the hotel, a bit restless with other people playing but you got used to it. The pool and area had sun all day so no matter where you sat you would be tanned.

The only bad thing about the holiday was the evening entertainment, there was none! Also the bar was only open until 11:30pm. My mother and I also looked around the local bars and restaurants for entertainment without any success. The other problem was the thinness of the walls within the room; we didn’t find it a problem until the last couple of nights when the hotel was ‘invaded’ by other Brits. I presume the summer periods would be busier so I would warn you that the noise may be worse. Also although it wasn’t a huge problem, the first floor rooms on the front of the hotel share a communal balcony. This was fine and allowed us to socialise with our neighbours but not good if you wanted privacy.

All in all, I liked the hotel and would definitely return for a cheap holiday to the sun.

Room Tip: A room at the front of the hotel gets the sun all day and view of the pool whereas the otherside the...

Just got back from a week staying at the Hotel Esplai and am really surprised with the reviews I have read. Yes the bedroom walls were very thin and noise did travel at night. However, the selection of food, fruit and salad was lovely, friendly staff who were always willing to help. The bar and bar staff were great, really helping us try all of the drinks. Even though we stayed all inclusive the times of food meant we were able to get out and see the resort. Really don't know what these bad reviews are all about, if you want 5* then pay 5* but when you pay half the price and in our case less, really no reason to complain. Would happily stay again.

The hotel was clean and for the most part the staff were friendly. I stayed with my partner and 9 year old grand daughter from 23rd to 30th August 2012, it was my grand daughters 1st trip abroad and the holiday was spoilt for us because we could'nt sleep at night due to noise, there appeared to be no sound proofing in the walls. The noise was horrendous!!!!!!!! you could hear someone from four rooms away bottom burp!!, young people playing football in the room above us at 3am, 3 Russians next door who decided to have a shouting competition in the early hours of almost every morning .......if you are thinking about a family holiday at the Esplai PLEASE THINK TWICE.
The hotel pictures we viewed on-line did not show the true size of the rooms and pool, the rooms were very small and there was not a lot of room in the pool.
We only stopped B+B so cannot comment on food other than breakfast. It was passable....
Ideal home base for party animals....particularly Germans and Russians (who didnt appear to have any social manners).
The one saving feature of the holiday was Papa's Bar, wonderful staff great atmosphere.

Room Tip: Go to another hotel unless your going on a wild drink fueled holiday

this hotel should be for students only as this seems to be all they cater for .if you like chips then ok but no potatoes plenty of hotdogs and burgers. only continental breakfast also. you cant get to sleep due to students singing laughing and shouting at all hours of the night.me and my husband would certainly not return to this hotel. also the dining room is just not big enough for the amount of people in the hotel and sometimes you had to wait outside the door for a table to be vacated.also only one drink per person when you take the glass back you can have another or get a token for next day. worst all inclusive ever.hotel esplai no thanks.

Room Tip: ask for overlooking the pool

food was worse than awful, we ate out.
entertainment was viryually non existant, pool was ok 4 the kids 2 meet other kids but we spent most of our time at the beach & eating out. certainly wont b returning to this hotel. although location wass ideal 4 the beach, old town, restaurants, bars, etc

Make no mistake, staying at this hotel would be akin to sleeping in a nightclub. There is no soundproofing whatsoever in this hotel, so you will easily hear someone a few rooms up coughing. As has been said below, this hotel appears to cater to young German teenagers who seem to have absolute contempt for everyone else staying here. The first night we were there they were banging on doors, running up and down the halls in the early morning. The rooms themselves have not been changed in years, and the poor state of repair shows this. THERE ARE NO DOUBLE BEDS! A basic requirement for a married couple, yet this hotel apparently has none as we were told at reception. Instead you get 3 separate beds with palettes underneath. The furniture in our room was broken, and it looked as if someone had kicked in the bottom of the small chair that we were provided. The phone in our room was also broken although this was replaced quickly. The beds themselves were never changed during our stay, although they were made in the mornings. The beds are very uncomfortable, very hard and lumpy, again, showing they have not been replaced in several years. They were so bad, I had to put the extra blankets provided underneath the bed covers in order to make them comfortable. There was only 1 plastic plug for the bath, and sink. This wouldn't have been an issue if it actually fit the bath. I had to stuff a used face cloth underneath it to keep any water in it. The food was terrible. While German cuisine is fine, when its undercooked, or cold can be rather nasty. Be wary if your going half board, as they will charge for any drinks with your afternoon meal. On second thoughts, just don't go.

Room Tip: Avoid at all costs. This hotel is not worth the money.
